The interior

Epicure Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Norwich, Connecticut in June 2017. It was founded by head brewer Ken Thiffeault and his wife Kerrie, as well as their business partners Jason & Jennifer Vincent and Robert & Jobina Miller. Their brewery and taproom is located in the historic harbor district of Norwich. The owners took the name from the definition of "epicure": a person who takes particular pleasure in fine food and drink. That drink usually refers to wine, but they thought, "why not beer?" My wife and I first visited Epicure in January 2020. We were staying in the Norwich area during the long MLK weekend for one last relaxing getaway before our son was born. The taproom was really nice and spacious; a great place to kick back with friends, play some board games and have a few brews. The surrounding neighborhood was filled with lots of cool restaurants as well as a lot of history. I approached the bar area and was met by head brewer Ken Thiffeault. He noticed that I was wearing a Rush t-shirt (my favorite band) and we had a nice conversation about the group. I ordered a taster flight of six different brews: "Lemon Blonde", "BDubs" (Pale Ale), "NVC IPA", "Damned Yankee" (IPA), "Big DIPA", and "One 4 Chesty" (Imperial Black IPA). I enjoyed everything, but my favorite was the last beer. You don't see too many Black IPAs, let alone Imperial ones. This one was brewed with "Hondusaurs" French roast cold brew coffee from Craftsman Cliff Roasters (located a block away from Epicure). It had a nice smoky flavor! The beer was named after legendary U.S. Marine Lieutenant General Lewis "Chesty" Puller. I ordered a growler of it to take home. When I received my receipt it said: "TABLE: Matt L - Rush Shirt - Best Band Ever". Very funny, Ken!! If you plan on visiting Epicure, I also recommend These Guys Brewing which is just a few doors down. You can have a nice Norwich brewery crawl!

6 beer flights for only 10 bucks!

Flights are 6 beers for 10 bucks!!!! Yay! I'm a fan right off the bat! Beers are quality and the owners are super friendly. Quality beers too! I loved the industrial feel and the fact that you can see most of their brewing operation right there from the tasting room. I also loved all the skateboards on the wall and the old motorcycle hanging from the ceiling. Totally cool vibe inside with classic rock tunes jammin' at the perfect volume. No conversation interference from loud music here. They don't serve food at all, but of course you can bring in your own or get delivery. Tons of seating inside as well as they have lots and lots of tables and a really long bar too. WiFi is strong and free, just like 'merica and there's parking in a lot directly across the street. I would definitely choose this place over These Guys Brewing Company next door. No brainer there.

This place is just cool. Great selection, friendly staff and a local crowd giving it a hometown atmosphere. They support veteran and local causes. They are very proud of their location and area in general. Angel and I feel very relaxed here. You will too...

This brewery is a great place to bring your buddies for some drinks and games. Great for bachelor parties too. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Beers are delicious. There are board games and cornhole that you can play with other guests. The music and decor fit the establishment perfectly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! They were kind enough to offer my bachelor party a tour of the brewing process on-site at no charge. Call or email ahead and maybe you can set up a similar experience. This location is near Mohegan Sun as a possible point of attraction outside of the casino. Thanks for the amazing experience!

If you are looking for good beer and a place to relax, this is the place for you. The place has good space with enough tables and bar space. It has an industrial facade and very clean. The service and attention were excellent leaving a good impression and desire to return. Let us talk beer, you will find from blonde, sour, amber, stout, porter, IPA and double IPA. How about food? well, you can bring your own food or on the back of the beer menu you will find recommendations for food delivery. I will be going back!

Great space, very friendly server. Had the lightning struck twice porter and the damned yankee ipa. Both were excellent. Plenty of room to spread out, parking across street and free hotdogs (at least today). Recommend a visit if you're in area and enjoy fresh beer.

Not the best brewery I've ever been too but certainly not the worst either. We had fun very simple almost industrial like setting inside. This was part of continuing my ct brewery tour. These guys is only a few doors down so partner it up you won't be disappointed

This brewery was a great find in the center of town. There isn't much in the town but I definitely recommend stopping here if you're ever in the area. The seating area is just big enough with super high ceilings and some really cool wall decor. There's a big bar and although it's blocked off, you can see the brewing room from your seat. I suggest ordering the beer flight because it comes in a muffin tin! You get to pick 6 beers out of their 7 that they had at the time I went. My favorite was the amber ale. I liked the wide variety of beers they had and also the creative names.

The hubby read some of the other Yelper's comments and knew to go upstairs, really glad others mentioned that! The space is just big enough that you don't feel like it's tiny but just small enough to feel like you're right in the action. The bar tenders were friendly, they had lots of beer selections (not all on tap, many canned options) and the band turned out to be absolutely fabulous! Following Strange Brew on Facebook is a great way to find out about all their different shows (bands, trivia, comedy, etc) and I don't know why we waited so long to get there! A great thing is their response to Facebook requests for information. But, It was cold outside and when we came in, upstairs, it was cold inside too. So we decided to leave and find a place that was a bit warmer. Nite that there was plenty of seating and it looked like a nice venue. ***** Facebook response for parking. Thank you for your inquiry. There are a few options for parking including on street parking on both sides of the road. Our building is located on the right side of the road (Water Street is a one way road). There are also three parking garages across the street. Each are available for parking, two of them have signage that says otherwise but it does not apply to our business hours, 6pm till closed. There are a few other parking garages located in downtown within walking distance including Main Street parking garage. There is also parking available in the lot at the marina, about a two minute walk from us on the road running parallel with our road. Please feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the venue &/or event(s). Thanks! For the entryway their response: Sorry for delay, On the right side of the building their is a staircase. Although we own the entire building, we are located on the second floor.

Deep sighs from lady at counter clearly irritated at our question if there were any sandwiches or handhelds as she flung her hand up at the screen. Apologized and said we'd seen them listed on the website. Not a great welcome. Ordered at the counter and handed a buzzer. We all ordered ourselves. Collectively - two pizzas, three orders of wings, and a Ceasar salad. We also went to the bar to get drinks. Then we got our own paper plates, napkins, and plasticware. Buzzer went off for one of us about ten minutes later. Pizza. Then 5 minutes later, another's. Wings. Not one person's whole order, but piecemeal. We made SIX separate trips from the front where we were sitting all the way to the back. So it was grab a bite of pizza - BUZZZZZZ - go get salad - a few mouthfuls - BUZZZZZZ - one order of wings - this dance went on for a half hour! Who eats like that? Salad was warm, drowned in anchovy forward dressing and limp lettuce. Asked for extra crispy wings. Flaccid. Super bummed. We had to go back to place our order, get our own tableware, set the table, and then pick up the food... If we had known all this I don't know that we would each have left a 20% tip after ordering. Received more care and service at a DD drive through. Pizza itself was great - just cold by the time we got all our food and were able to sit still and eat. So... all in all - great atmosphere to grab a beer at the bar and yak or order ONE pizza so you all could actually enjoy it warm. Group each wanting something different or expecting food brought to you - not the spot. Just go with the right expectations and you will enjoy.
