What a very fun and nice brewery. I enjoyed their peach Berliner weisse and my fiance had their IPA. The IPA tasted a lot more like a dunkel, but they insisted it was correct. I love fruit wheats so I was very happy with my beer and had it twice. I was also a fan of their merch being available in women's sizes. It's a great looking brewery with lots of seating. Epicure Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Norwich, Connecticut in June 2017. It was founded by head brewer Ken Thiffeault and his wife Kerrie, as well as their business partners Jason & Jennifer Vincent and Robert & Jobina Miller. Their brewery and taproom is located in the historic harbor district of Norwich. The owners took the name from the definition of "epicure": a person who takes particular pleasure in fine food and drink. That drink usually refers to wine, but they thought, "why not beer?" My wife and I first visited Epicure in January 2020. We were staying in the Norwich area during the long MLK weekend for one last relaxing getaway before our son was born. The taproom was really nice and spacious; a great place to kick back with friends, play some board games and have a few brews. The surrounding neighborhood was filled with lots of cool restaurants as well as a lot of history. I approached the bar area and was met by head brewer Ken Thiffeault. He noticed that I was wearing a Rush t-shirt (my favorite band) and we had a nice conversation about the group. I ordered a taster flight of six different brews: "Lemon Blonde", "BDubs" (Pale Ale), "NVC IPA", "Damned Yankee" (IPA), "Big DIPA", and "One 4 Chesty" (Imperial Black IPA). I enjoyed everything, but my favorite was the last beer. You don't see too many Black IPAs, let alone Imperial ones. This one was brewed with "Hondusaurs" French roast cold brew coffee from Craftsman Cliff Roasters (located a block away from Epicure). It had a nice smoky flavor! The beer was named after legendary U.S. Marine Lieutenant General Lewis "Chesty" Puller. I ordered a growler of it to take home. When I received my receipt it said: "TABLE: Matt L - Rush Shirt - Best Band Ever". Very funny, Ken!! If you plan on visiting Epicure, I also recommend These Guys Brewing which is just a few doors down. You can have a nice Norwich brewery crawl! read more

Flights are 6 beers for 10 bucks!!!! Yay! I'm a fan right off the bat! Beers are quality and the owners are super friendly. Quality beers too! I loved the industrial feel and the fact that you can see most of their brewing operation right there from the tasting room. I also loved all the skateboards on the wall and the old motorcycle hanging from the ceiling. Totally cool vibe inside with classic rock tunes jammin' at the perfect volume. No conversation interference from loud music here. They don't serve food at all, but of course you can bring in your own or get delivery. Tons of seating inside as well as they have lots and lots of tables and a really long bar too. WiFi is strong and free, just like 'merica and there's parking in a lot directly across the street. I would definitely choose this place over These Guys Brewing Company next door. No brainer there. read more

The beer I would give an A-OK, but I really like the space, the atmosphere, and I am all for increasing the awesome in Norwich. They had 12+ beers on tap for tasting with something for everyone (various IPAs, stouts, pale ales, lagers). Although there was so much variety, there was only one I really loved. Despite only loving one, I still drank all the samples. No worries! The space is large and open. As mentioned in many of the other reviews, it is a great spot to hang out with friends. There are a bunch of games people can use and play including cornhole. It is not too loud, but both times I have been there it was not due to lack of people. They will also let you reserve space for events. The last time I was there, a 30th birthday party was being held there. The party was 15-20 people. They had a portion of the place, but there was still so much more room. Not at all a problem. read more

Before the review starts, keep in mind that using Apple maps might tell you that this brewery is in the same building as S & A Market. It is actually down the street in the colorful building that has Cream, Rose City Athletics, and These Guys Brewing Company. Caused a little confusion for me and my wife, but we found it with not too much extra trouble. Came in on a Saturday and the bartender was VERY nice and helpful. Didn't realize they did 10% off on Saturday's if you bring in food from a local restaurant so that was a big plus! I asked about their Atomic #26 IPA they had and I won't steal the show from the bartender for explaining why it is called that, but I highly recommend you ask because it's a cool background behind the name! Great atmosphere and great tasting beers. Pretty sure between the wife and I, we tried 75% of the beers with 8oz pours and were happy with all of them. Bring your food in, have a couple great beers, play some shuffleboard, and enjoy the experience. You won't be disappointed. read more

This brewery is a great place to bring your buddies for some drinks and games. Great for bachelor parties too. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Beers are delicious. There are board games and cornhole that you can play with other guests. The music and decor fit the establishment perfectly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! They were kind enough to offer my bachelor party a tour of the brewing process on-site at no charge. Call or email ahead and maybe you can set up a similar experience. I have to admit I'm a bit of a beer snob, with that being said.....I got a tasting for 6 samples and only really cared for one. I frequent local beer breweries and brew pubs and it's not uncommon that I'm unhappy with the selection of beer choices. Being that I prefer dark style beers and its safe to say that the IPA/APA is the local brewers beer of choice these days. This brewery did throw in an amber a red and a pale ale, so that gave me false hope and led to my disappointment. However the oatmeal stout was right up there with the best of them and the fact they are located next door to another brewery makes for an ideal location. They will see foot traffic from what is already a successful brewpub, and they did some great things within their facility. As a result I will definitely be returning this fall/winter to my ideal beer season. Follow up review to come. Cheers read more

Really cool spot! Went last night just passing through town and there was awesome live music. Atmosphere is great, very laid back industrial vibe. Beer was delicious too. If you're not an IPA person, I highly recommend GBGB (sour) or Stay Pretty. My only recommendation to the owners, is to offer flights with 4 pours. I love flights, because it allows people the opportunity to try many beers without having to get full glasses. When I got to the 5th and 6th beer on my flight they weren't great because they were no longer cold. Warm beer is never tasty. Or, i've seen breweries give tokens, so customers get a fresh cold pour each beer. read more

This brewery was a great find in the center of town. There isn't much in the town but I definitely recommend stopping here if you're ever in the area. The seating area is just big enough with super high ceilings and some really cool wall decor. There's a big bar and although it's blocked off, you can see the brewing room from your seat. I suggest ordering the beer flight because it comes in a muffin tin! You get to pick 6 beers out of their 7 that they had at the time I went. My favorite was the amber ale. I liked the wide variety of beers they had and also the creative names. read more

They have fantastic beers. I love sours and can always find a sour I like. I really enjoy a bar that allows you to bring your own food though I do wish they had some options just in case I get a little hungry. The feeling in the place is super comfortable but the music could be louder. The doorway is a little small so I feel like I'm entering a cave but once you are in it feels like home. Enjoyable! My brother and I sat at the bar and enjoyed a flight of their beers, sampling all but one. The bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere is a little dark in a cool way. It's BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) and there are plenty of tables to hang out at. My only recommendation is to add a TV above the bar (or TVs), as this could be a great spot to drink beer and watch the Patriots. Go! read more

As someone who works for a small business, I so appreciate when you can tell that something is a labor of love. Epicure is one of those places. Immaculately clean and impeccably designed, there was a whole lot of heart that went into opening this brewery. We talked to the owner for a bit, and you can see how passionate he is about this place. The beer was great, and the flights were so reasonable. $10 for a flight of 6 is unheard of. They're also stocked with board games, corn hole, and menus to order local fare. Unfortunately, I'm not from the area so I won't be able to come often, but if you are, check this place out. Although I am not a big beer drinker, we wanted to stop in and support this new business in downtown Norwich. We weren't disappointed. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. I was offered a sample of two selections and was told they also have some wine selections, which is great because many breweries don't offer this option. But, I actually liked the Stay Pretty Blonde. It's an open, inviting space decorated with local art work and an interesting motorcycle. The distilleries are gleaming in the distance. Although there is no plan to serve food, the owners are generous at offering menus from local restaurants that have a delivery service. Or you can bring in your own take out. Plenty of parking on the corner of Bath Street or directly across from the entrance at 40 Franklin St. Great for groups too. Good signage about the entrance and parking areas. read more

I tried Epicure on Saturday after work and it was pretty good. I will be going back at some point with more people so that should tell you something. The first thing I noticed was: its hard to notice it. The door is a little recessed and I walked by it twice before I found it even with the sign out front pointing directly to it. The place was about a 1/4 full when I was there and I have no idea what it would be like if it were busy. The place is big and the ceilings are high so that could be a problem. NOTE: I'm old and want a quiet cozy place to drink a few pints. I brought some tacos with from the Mexican place on Main street and because this was my first time here, I got a flight of 6 tasters; basically, one of everything they were offering. The beers were all good. Nothing weird or experimental, they were not trying to break the rules or be bold and blah blah blah. The beers were good, drinkable, dare I say? session beers. They ran the gamut from an amber lager to a stout with a red ale and an IPA somewhere in between. I prefer mine dark and malty so I can't judge the IPA, but the rest were good solid, drinkable, tasty beers that went well with the tacos I brought and if that isn't high praise I don't know what else I can tell you. Drink local and support people starting new business, especially if that business is brewing and selling beer. read more

This is an amazing brewery! They have a B.Y.O.F meaning bring your own food policy, so be prepared for that. That being said they usually have street vendors outside offering a variety of food. Most of the local restaurants also deliver to the brewery. They have amazing beers and offer tasters so you can try everything before ordering. Their flavors are always changing and they're all amazing. Definitely worth the trip. read more
