Price point fluctuates a bit depending on portions but think in the $5-$6 range per person and you'll need to add your own veggies/sides. However, I'm not a wine drinker, so it didn't really feel like a good deal for me. I would've rathered they include the apron instead. The class runs from 6-9pm, which was a little on the later side for me to really want to eat, but I guess when you're running a class on a weekday, you have to accommodate work end times. Class is in a conveniently located Grant Macewan building, and it includes parking in the campus parkade across the street. The classroom is very nice. There's a large family style table and then the kitchen area. The set up of the class itself is a little awkward. We sat around the kitchen prep area, which would've benefited from some mirrors so we can see what the instructor was doing. They do have cameras behind the instructor, but then the TV screens are located behind you, which really doesn't help much at all unless you keep turning around to look at it. The instructor did encourage students to come around and watch, but after a long day at work, sitting and watching is more preferable.. The instructor was good, very informative. The other kitchen staff were nice as well. It was a fun experience, and they offer a variety of classes, it's just the price point is a little on the higher side compared to other cooking classes offered in the city. Take out boxes are provided if you have leftovers or want to share what you've made. Recipes from the class are also provided.

My friend got a coke and the Donkas, a breaded pork cutlet with a cabbage slaw. It also came with ketchup and bbq sauce on the side. Our food came out very fast; I don't think we waited more than 8 minutes, but our drinks hadn't arrived and the server said they'd be on the way. With our meals they brought out a small side of vegetables that included kimchi, bean spouts, radish (may have been daikon) with this delicious sauce, and mashed potatoes, plus a side of steamed rice. I'm not sure if the veggies and rice were for my meal or my friend's or for the table, but we both enjoyed it. I really liked the radish dish. Our meals were also delicious. My friend's pork cutlet was massive and she said it was really good. I loved the Japchae, it was savoury and comforting. I had been debating about ordering one of the full vegetable dishes like the eggplant or cucumber salad, but the serving sizes are decent and I wasn't hungry. The downside was they forgot about our drinks. I kept waiting and finally partway through our meal I pressed the button and asked about our drinks, and they had completely forgotten. The server (a different one from before) apologized. My friend's coke came out right after that and my drink took a few minutes to make. I do understand things get missed (I've worked in restaurants before), but it also wasn't very busy. So I can't give Hanjan 5-stars because of this but it was still a really meal. I was drawn to their make your own pasta station, which i had actually gone back to retrieve my own container so I could order one of their pasta when I found out the guy behind the pasta counter, Richard is his name according to the cashier refused to put the pasta in my container stating "health regulations" I had no idea it was a thing. I had written to Food inspections Canada and awaiting their response. I dedicate my lifestyle to reducing waste and try my very best to honour 0 plastic usage. I appreciate the containers their store offers with biodegradable paper options in their hot and cold stations. The store also have a special pricing for bring your own cup at the coffee and tea station. Furthermore, upon taking my bowl of pasta which he insisted slapping on a clear pasta lid I told him no he persisted as he says that's how I have to use to pay? Can't he just hand me a price sticker or just apply it to the side of the bowl? The attitude and rudeness will ensure I will not visit again. I also took the time to comment on their website and I got this response (see photo attached) I get it's in the discretion of business's own rights to do whatever they want, but don't use some sort of health regulation dismiss someone who is trying to save the planet by taking the time to bring in their own containers. They have a great selection from a salad bar and hot self-serve (cost based on weight) to made-to-order sammies and ready to go full meals. There's even little containers of snacks and treats, like hummus, chocolates, veggies & dip, chips, jujubes - it's like a combo cafeteria and convenience store. Very helpful for the busy downtown worker, whether it's a meal or just snacks for an informal meeting. The $2.19 made-to-order breakfast sandwich is an absolute steal given almost all the toppings (except for bacon & cheese) are free, up to 4 selections. Try to get that at Timmy's or Subway! I also love that the food is discounted on Friday afternoon after about 1p.m. My spouse always picks up 2-for-1 soup or entrees for me to take for my weekend night shifts, and my friend who lives on a fixed income finds this is a great way to get some healthy meals that are within his budget. The entrees themselves are easily big enough for two meals - at $8 each and 2 for 1, that's $2 a meal. Wow. Heck of a deal for homemade food. Plus the head chef is a great guy, so if you like a particular dish, he might just tip you off as to when they will next make it, or make it part of their regular offerings. I recently volunteered to organize some fruit picks for OFRE. I was amazed (but maybe not…read moresurprised) by the number of people around town who are looking for help making sure the fruit growing in their yard doesn't go to waste. OFRE basically helps people pick fruit growing in their yards, and then splits the fruit between itself, the pickers, local charities/shelters, and the homeowner. They also occasionally offer sessions on ways of preserving and using the fruit, and have recently started selling products at the Alberta Ave market. We went to three homes around the city, and picked easily 200 lbs of apples. We could have picked more, but we reached our capacity to actually transport them... It turns out fruit picking is an amazing full body workout (I could hardly move the next day), and a fun way to do something good and get some free fruit out of it. At the end of the day, we dropped off a ridiculous number of apples at the organizer's house, and tasted some of her delicious fresh cider. I just hope they don't become victims of their own success... there's a lot of fruit out there, and this is a pretty small organization so far.

I had just recently showed a friend how to check which pharmacies in Alberta have free Naloxone kits and decided to see if Beaumont was selected. Sure enough, they were on the drop down list on the AHS website so I decided to visit their pharmacy. There was one gentleman working behind the counter and he appeared quite busy. I waited about 5 minutes and he came over to greet me. He looked a little confused as to what Naloxone kits were and after I explained to him that I found their pharmacy listed on the AHS website, he let me know that he was just filling in for a lady who would be back in less than 2 hours and that he didn't know where they were kept. Not the end of the world but also not good - oh well, hopefully the regular lady knows where they are. My checkout experience was expedient and I actually quite liked their yellow grocery bags - nice and sturdy! This location also had a gas bar outside.
