These people are not qualified to do anything other than mow lawns, and that's questionable. They did a "fall cleanup" which included pruning back bushes and they totally butchered my property. They cut back perennial flowers that should never be cut back, they butchered shrubs and then tried to tell me that they did what they were supposed to do. This is a horrible company and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

Usually, I do my own landscaping for our 1/4 acre lawn. However, with multiple kids playing sports, my time on the weekend gets eaten up quick. We called a few landscaping companies to do a spring cleanup for our yard: clean out the beds, mulch, dig out some dead rose bushes, etc. Of all the estimates we got, Epling was the most reasonably priced.. After seeing the work they did, it was worth every penny. Their crew trimmed all of our bushes, dug those little mulch trenches around all the beds and trees and did an excellent job of making our yard really pop. read more

They guys that show usually do a GREAT JOB!!!!! Pretty much the same guys always! For a few times though there were a few guys that did our lawn and they were very rough and destroyed a few bushes and trees. When I called and compained they said that they were going to send someone to look at the situation so I waited ALL day at the house and no one ever showed up so then when I called again they said someone had already come by!! They destroyed a few of my trees and refused to replace them. I feel like there is new management and it is not good. The quality has gone way down hill!! Things do happen as far as trees getting destroyed BUT the fact that management did not respond or act accordingly is where the real problem lies! read more

Epling is doing a great job on our lawn as well all our landscaping. We moved in a year ago to a yard that was in bad shape, and bushes and plantings that really needed some TLC. They have shaped up the existing plantings and added to with some great things. read more

The previous owner of the home I bought had this property still under contract when I moved in. They paid $2,000 a month for lawn care and maintenance. I moved in around August and they "sprayed" the lawn often. They left the yellow tag out on my lawn about every 2 weeks. Supposedly spraying for weeds. The weeds just stayed there all last year. Not one died. This spring my yard is bare in some spots and completely covered in weeds. There's hardly any grass. My entire lawn will need renovated now. If they did the work they claimed they did then my lawn wouldn't look this way. The picture I have posted speaks for itself. read more

There are 3 reasons I'm only giving two stars but I want to start by saying something nice. Everyone at Epling was very nice and easy to work with. But here's why I won't be using them again: 1. Mowing was uneven and sloppy - they destroyed my lawn edges where it meets the mulch beds by cutting the grass way to short right at the edge. They also blew all of the clippings into my basement stairwell, our garden and the side of the house - I had to clean up each time to get my basement stairway drain from clogging. (They need to shoot the discharge away from the house!) 2. Billing was unreliable. They made several errors and sometimes I didn't get a bill at all. 3. The bushes they installed died or are on their way to dying and no one has bothered to check on them and replace them. Sorry, really wanted to like these guys but I'm going with someone else next year. I used Epling for 1 full year. I purchased just about all of their recommended services. Jason read more

Epling had originally done some landscaping for my townhouse in 2009. Over the years they were not always the most responsive, but nothing too terrible. The most recent issue causing me to write the review was due to my latest experience. I am putting my house on the market, and needed some clean up of the yard. I spoke to them, and they said they would call me back within 2 days with a quote. A week later I had not heard from them, so i followed up; they stated my house was to be done that day. Later on, they called back stating that they didn't realize I lived in a townhouse and they no longer service townhomes. Unfortuantely, this left me hanging, with no one to help before the open house. So, for those wishing to use Epling - they're work is ok (not bad, but not great), but their follow up is terrible! read more

We used our previous full-service lawn care company for over 10 years before the company was sold and the quality declined. Epling charged more and the quality of their work was worse. Edging along the fence was sloppy, mowing was uneven and weeds in the grass increased. At times, they tore up the grass with their mowers. Some of the crew could not identify weeds in the planting beds. I canceled the contract after they hacked back freshly planted liriope during the late fall maintenance, but did not prune the rose bushes. read more

I am updating my review. My shrubs had been damaged during the spring cleanup and was quite the eyesore which was why I gave my initial rating. However after reaching out to the company they replaced the damaged shrubs with news ones. I appreciated their ownership of this issue and making it right which is why I changed from 1 star to 4 stars. read more

Epling worked with us on a job, did the first part poorly and never came back to finish. A terrible experience - they left us in the lurch and cost us time and money we could not afford. We had previously used them for mowing and they killed our back yard by repeatedly mowing it first thing in the morning when it was very wet. They told us it would come back in the spring - it never did and they will not take responsibility for it. It's sad to see that our area puts up with such awful service, but I guess these companies simply move on to the next victim since there are so many of us that are willing to pay for help. Initially they were pretty good, but their service steadily declined over the summer. We had minor billing problems because they are pretty backward in their bookkeeping. In the fall they completely missed an entire month and the yard looked terrible. We attempted to get them to fix the problem and their answer was merely to add the month on the backend of the contract, IN DECEMBER!!! A complete waste. They are now on an automatic renewal basis for any contracts - we immediately cancelled! Terrible service, poor follow up, and poor customer service. read more
