HG grass has deleted my review here, so I am posting it again for the truth to be known. Their high rating on google is fake.
We've been customers of HG since 2023. Despite our loyalty, the way we've been treated during a recent incident has been incredibly disappointing and deeply frustrating. I'm sharing this to highlight how poorly HG handles serious issues--and how unwilling they were to take responsibility when their own mistakes cause significant damage.
On 6/10, one of HG's workers drove a lawn mower down our basement stairs, causing serious damage to both the stairs and an exterior wall. I was home at the time and heard what sounded like a car crash. When I went outside, I was shocked to find the worker--who appeared to be under the influence--standing beside the damage with his lawn mower down my stairs. The setup of our yard makes this even more inexplicable: there is a two-foot concrete ledge separating the lawn from the stairs. This was not a minor error; it was clear negligence.
Given how obvious the damage was and the circumstances surrounding it, I initially assumed HG would take full responsibility. Unfortunately, that assumption was wrong. After 2 months of frustrating, unproductive back-and-forth with HG's owner, Adriano, I now regret not contacting the police immediately.
Adriano has shown a complete lack of empathy, professionalism, and accountability throughout this entire ordeal. Instead of working with us toward a resolution, he has been dismissive, uncooperative, and condescending.
Details:
- On 6/10, within minutes of the incident, I emailed HG with photos and videos documenting the damages, along with a request that any repair work be coordinated with us beforehand.
- On 6/14, without any prior notice, Adriano informed us someone would be coming to our backyard to repair the damage. We were in the middle of a child's birthday party with many guests and children in the backyard, and clearly couldn't accommodate sudden construction work. I apologied to Adriano on the inconvenience, and asked him to share a repair plan and the qualifications of the person he was sending. As of today, he still never shared neither.
- Over the next few weeks, I repeatedly emailed Adriano on the repair, and he made vague statements about how hard it was to find someone qualified. He made me believe the repair is minor, only to patch the damages.
- On 7/24, Adriano again gave short notice that a concrete contractor would be arriving the next day. When the contractor arrived on July 25th, he told us that a patch repair would likely fall apart within 2 weeks. He described the proper way to fix the damage as a much larger project--one that needs to demolish all our stairs and exterior wall, which will void our new home's builder warranty. This contractor also informed us that the repairs would still be visibly noticeable due to color mismatch.
After learning all this, I called Adriano to explain the situation and asked for financial compensation instead, so I could have the damage properly repaired after the builder warranty expires. Adriano said he'd call me back--but never did. Instead, he canceled the repair, and the following Monday he emailed us stating that he considered the matter "closed" because we had "changed our minds."
Let me be clear: I did not change my mind. I asked--repeatedly--for a proper, qualified repair plan to be shared with us in advance. Adriano failed to provide one. His version of a "solution" was a cheap, cosmetic patch job that didn't come close to addressing the actual damage HG caused.
Understanding the challenges small businesses face, we even proposed that he pay us with service instead of cash. He arrogantly declined and continued to place blame on us, stating that we are lucky he had "offered to fix it twice" and that it was our fault for declining those attempts.
In truth, Adriano never intended to take real responsibility. He was more focused on minimizing his cost than actually fixing the damage properly.
Even worse, I have since received threats from Adriano restraining me from sharing my experience publicly. So this review has been reviewed by my attorney, and we are pursuing this matter legally read more
