This is homemade comida boricua with a little freestyle--los clásicos we already love, but with enough creativity to make them spark in the food jungle. The Nutella French toast? Ay bendito. Sweet, rich, messy in all the right ways, and absolutely not here to support anybody's dieta. Pero EL CHICHARRÓN?! Miraaaa. Fabulous. Crunchy, chewy, salty, melt-in-your-mouth oro. Good food, fast and attentive service. We went in the mid-afternoon to try the lunch menu and the place did not disappoint. Interesting concept for Gen-Xers and previous generations to remember Puerto Rican food and traditions, including some everyday devices from the past . The mini alcapurrias were among the best we've eaten, and the main dishes were large in both size and flavor. We'll return soon to try the brunch menu, which looks delicious. read more

Service was great, friendly and fast. I went for brunch and was not disappointed! I got the French toast to eat there and pancake plate to go for the next morning. This place really surprised all of us. On three kings day, busy place everything ran fairly smoothly. Our empanadillas were good, the Sancocho to excellent, and the guanimes, the best. The main dishes were all surprisingly good. Even though it's not very complicated dishes, they are well prepared and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. It looks like a place we're it's either family run or they like to hire youth. Our server was good, attentive. Hewever he forgot to poo it in one of our plates. Even though it took another 20 minutes he was concerned and kept us informed about it. Overall a great experience. We visited E'Pura Cepa Restaurant on Sunday afternoon with high expectations and we were not disappointed at all!! From the day before, in which I called ahead to find out more details about the restaurant, I received the best attention from Mari the owner. She was kind enough to answer my questions and even suggested to call ahead to our arrival to set up our table. The excellent experience started with a warm welcome from the whole staff and a complementary "sancocho" that set up the tone of the extraordinary taste of the food. We were 7 in our group and no one complained about their food choices. Chicharrones de pollo, salmorejo de jueyes, pechuga a la parrilla con majado de yautia, arroz con bacalo and the signature plate La Amapola. In summary everything is just 5 STARS!! The freshness, the "puertorrican" taste, the portions and presentation of the food were just awesome. Did I mention the affordable prices?.....and to complete, the place is located at just three minutes from exit 32 or Guavate exit from Road 52 (autopista). This is some of the best food we had all week in PR. We asked the server what to order and she said the Amapola. The two of us shared it and it was plenty for a lunch. So delicious!!!! Great family run place. Food like mom, or close to what mom, used to make. I had a sample of the house sancocho...and it was delicious (and I really don't eat sancocho, so yeah, I really liked it). I ordered the Red Snapper in mojillo with Mofongo. Very nice. Unfortunately I didn't leave any space for dessert...but next time I definitively will. Good food. Good ambiance.
