I recently had my car/house keys, 2 valuable rings and watch stolen from the women's locker room. They were all on one large carabiner ring. Management was very helpful in trying to locate my lost belonging to no avail. I believe I inadvertently left them in an obvious place on a bench while changing and hope someone would have turned them in. These items have significant monetary and sentimental value. I offer a reward for the return, but have heard nothing. Warning-be very circumspect about anything you leave in this women's locker room. I am echoing another reviewer's comments. I had the worst customer service experience with the manager of the Bethesda location and corporate service team. I am running back to Lifetime Fitness. I lost six pre-paid personal training sessions due to medical reasons - they were unwilling to refund me for those. I then asked if they could transfer the six sessions to another member, but there was no response; the GM ghosted me until I asked to cancel my membership, to which I got an immediate reply. They have a very unprofessional way of servicing members they obviously do not value. I always thought Equinox was an aspirational brand, I stand corected. read more

What I really liked about the Bethesda location: 1. Really open weights space on the main floor, with enormous windows, tons of natural light to bathe your muscles in a buttery glow, enough room in between machines so you have plenty of room to spread out without feeling like you're on top of your fellow gym-goers. Definitely envious of how much space there is, especially compared to the NYC locations, where even with capacity restrictions, it still feels like a lot of people crammed into one little area. There's a third floor with a lot more cardio machines but those were tucked out of the way. 2. Locker rooms were more spacious (guess you can glean a running theme with this review). Liked the little wooden platform in the shower. Steam room was nice and toasty. 3. Nice juice bar right next door. The watermelon soft serve looked intriguing and like the perfect treat right after a hard workout. 4. Really liked the Sat morning spinning instructor, who led a brutal class but was cheerful and upbeat and encouraging throughout. What was a bit meh: 1. Some of the locks seemed busted and out of date; I tried two before finally just sticking with one and it seemed sticky. 2. There's either street parking or garage parking across the street, which was a nightmare to back out of on a beautiful Saturday. I'm on a mission to check out all of the locations at some point. There was a time when I could justify the price of Equinox. I valued the cleanliness, high-quality equipment, service, and classes. Today, the only reasons we're still members are the weekend classes and some excellent trainers. However, I'm fed up with dirty showers, roaches, and even parasite-like worms in the steam room. It's frustrating that my one email in two years went unanswered. I'm angry that I've had multiple headphones lost or stolen, and even though I could see them on "Find My Phone" in their back office, I couldn't get a manager to check. I'm frustrated that the equipment is often broken due to old age. Finally, it's uncomfortable being asked for money multiple times by employees we don't know well. read more

Wish I could rate zero stars. This gym is an awful place to be if you aren't white, middle aged, heterosexual, and skinny. Heather Urban unfairly treated my girlfriend and I at Equinox Bethesda. She saw a fat girl and a skinny girl working out together and automatically assumed that she was my personal trainer. I have never experienced a gym so outwardly proud of being fatphobic. I felt that Heather Urban, the personal training manager, let her personal biases alter how she spoke to me, which was very rudely. I feel that Heather Urban, and Equinox Bethesda, is fatphobic and targets young people of color. For how much I pay for this gym I expected to be treated with the bare minimum level of respect, which I did not feel from Equinox Bethesda and Heather Urban. read more

Equinox Bethesda is a great gym. Parking garage right across the street, along with plenty of street parking. There are even electric vehicle chargers in the garage, so convenient! The amenities are awesome! Child care is available, along with group fitness classes, Personal Training, and individualized fitness testing. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The membership advisors go out of their way to cater to your situation, and make you feel at home. The fitness staff are always willing to help, spot, or train. They are professionals! Located near plenty of shops and boutiques, the Bethesda location is my favorite thus far. read more

Great gym which is conveniently located in the heart of Bethesda Row. Coming from Miami this is perhaps the second best equinox besides the one in the Gables. The layout is easy to work around on the main floor, just kinda wish they had more ab machines and the steam room could have been bigger. read more

I joined Equinox in May 2023 and loved the gym itself. The front desk staff are great and the classes are wonderful. They have a great selection of classes and the people they get to teach said classes are amazing. My issue is with the managers of this location, their unresponsiveness, and deceit. I signed up for personal training and loved my trainer. I signed up for a 6-week subscription and got mostly all the way through. Made it to week 5 and had some issues and had to cancel. The managers are so unresponsive. I had sent several emails and called several times only to be told "they will call you back" "the managers are in a meeting, I'll take down your info for them to return your call" only to be ignored. I had to contact corporate just to cancel. Once I canceled they charged me for the 6th week (totally understandable) AND an extra $195 session claiming that because I did not cancel, they received no notice of my cancellation, they continued to charge me. Again, I tried to contact them several times and still no response. I contacted my bank about the extra charge and the refunded it only for Equinox Bethesda to dispute, claiming the same things saying that I did not notify them that I wanted to cancel. I have the documented emails and filed an appeal. Just save yourself the headache and trouble and go to another location. The DC location is amazing! read more

I love Equinox! I have been a member since February of this year. I've taken a wide variety of classes and they are all amazing. The instructors are all knowledgeable, fun, upbeat, and very willing to help. I started out as a complete newbie and even in larger classes they are able to give personal attention to people in the class, correcting as needed, giving encouragement, and suggesting modifications as needed. Many of the instructors have remembered my name by the 2nd or 3rd class. The facilities are huge and offer a lot of perks- I get excited for the eucalyptus chilled towels after every workout and love the Kiehls products in the bathroom. Good to know: No free parking at this location unless you want to warmup and park 9-10 blocks away. It is best to use the Montgomery County owned garage directly across from Equinox's main entrance as it isn't overpriced like the others. It hurts to give an Equinox two stars, but after nearly two weeks of repeated crap service, this is what it has come to... It goes without saying... every legendary brand enters the DC market only to have their name tarnished terribly. Equinox in Bethesda is no exception. From the incredibly rude staff members that strut the front desk area and fitness floor with entitlement written all over their foreheads. But then again, it's the DC area, and the area follows its main industry--lazy inefficient government with a self important concept. I suppose if Bethesda is your home club and you've never experienced true Equinox service at most of the other clubs, then you don't really know any better and this place is just wonderful. Now, the building, locker room and fitness floor as well as the overall design is nothing to complain about. It is pure Equinox. This club sort of reminds me of the 92nd Street club, only with a better layout and larger footprint. The front desk staff are usually busy chatting it up with their friends or are absent from it completely. There seems to be a great interest in football by the staff members that loiter at the table in the foyer. I'm unsure if they're on duty, but they're still wearing Equinox attire, which leads me to believe that they're just practicing an all-time DC tradition of just "bein' lazy and gettin' paid in tha' Escalade!" The floor trainers (blue shirts) are lazy and show a great deal of interest in Facebook, Twitter and a host of other websites that they frequent in the PT office. One night in particular, one floor trainer passed several abandoned towels, kettlebells and cables a record seven times without even batting an eye at them. I guess going through the motions without any actual work qualifies as hard work in this area?! Many other trainers are sloppy people (I'm being generous when I say this) that proudly display just how sloppy and untrained in civility they are when they go into the locker room. I'll end it there. The natural gas odor near the water fountains is quite strange, and others have noticed it also. How I love taking a drink of water with a hint of gaseous explosion! In closing, this club's staff are horrific when compared to the likes of Equinox South Beach, Palo Alto or the Equinox in Coral Gables (South Miami). People at those clubs value their jobs and take an interest in making sure the brand succeeds. The employees at this location are good for nothings that are, again, only interested in, "gettin' paid." If you're in the DC area, choose the Tysons location for a more true Equinox experience. Equinox Bethesda is plagued by a terrible mix of employees that honestly belong at a gym that charges $15/month... Like Planet Fitness or some God awful place. This is the Equinox that drew me in. I would visit this location with a friend and was instantly impressed. The eucalyptus and mint smelling towels, the pretty tiling of the downstairs, the amazing instructors, what is not to love? What they do offer is of great quality and utility. It's honestly why I made the switch from my previous gym to this one. I love all the Kiehl's products in the bathroom. The random events they host. The Equinox iPhone app is not only useful but incredibly informative. They have articles on diet and working out. This is my favorite gym in the area. I was here as a guest and enjoyed my time working out with my aunt and her personal trainer. It's a clean, beautifully designed, upscale gym. One thing that I think is worth mentioning, is that during our training session, my aunts trainer needed to pay much more attention to her form. While doing squats and side luges with weight, her form needed to be corrected and it was not. Form should be one of the top, if not the most important thing when working out, to prevent injury. The workout was good, and we were both sore the day after. But, for future reference, please have your trainers make sure their clients form is perfect so they are sore because of a good workout and not because they have poor form. read more

So what do you know? I come for a business trip and it just so happens that my hotel is less than half a mile from Equinox. Thus, I naturally made it a point to stop here for a nice workout. This location actually surprised me quite a bit. I really didn't think that this place would be as large and new as this place is. I've been to 21 Equinox locations now (see my list), so I've seen really nice locations, and some not as nice locations. This club here in Bethesda is definitely in the top half of the best clubs that I've been to. When you're walking to the club, you are greeted with a HUGE Equinox sign on the building. With that sign, there is no possible way that you can miss it. This Equinox is divided into 4 floors: The 1st/basement is dedicated to the yoga studio, pool, spa, and locker rooms. The nice thing about having a club that is only 2 years old is that everything is still nice and new. There are tons of lockers, and when I was there, it was not crowded at all. No need to bring your own lock here because the lockers have the combination lock built right into it. Also, the locker room boasts your steam room and a doorway to the pool. What I thought that was really nice, were the shower stalls. It's really random, but they look a lot nicer than almost all the clubs that I've gone to. The 2nd/ground floor is dedicated to the lobby, shop, and membership advisor rooms. Pretty standard, so nothing super special about this. On the 3rd floor is where you'll find all the weights/machines, and some cardio machines as well. On top of that, the dance studio is on this floor in the corner. This workout area is pretty spacious and there are plenty of machines to go around. Lastly, the 4th floor is dedicated to cardio. Here is where you'll find all the cardio equipment that you need. All in all, this is a great club. Things are clean, new, and not crowded. Those are all the things that I love about Equinox, and this place meets all of my criteria. Now if only Maryland/DC could have more clubs in the area. read more

Very nice gym with EVERYTHING you could want. From eucalyptus towels, to Kiehl's products, they have thought of every last detail. The vibe is upscale/spa & this location is relatively new so everything is in excellent condition. The equipment is top of the line & there are several floors that offer exercise rooms (where classes are held), several huge, open & airy rooms with cardio equipment & weights as well as room to stretch out post-workout. They offer many different types of exercise classes - something to suit most everyone and if you want to pay extra, they offer laundry service so you never have to worry about bringing your gym clothes back & forth again. Also, if you pay extra, you'll have access to clubs throughout the US. Is it worth it? Well, depends on how often you visit the gym. I spend more time @ a local yoga studio & exercise outside (i.e. running, etc.) so it's not worth it for me to pay $140+ a month for a gym membership. If I were a gym rat, you'd better believe Equinox would be my gym of choice. The best of the best! read more

This is possibly one of the most beautiful gyms I have ever been to! Everyone there is very nice and helpful. Took my first spin class here and it was so intense but so much fun. They have a whole level devoted to cardio equipment and a huge lower level for other equipment and weights. One thing I especially liked was that they provided a few treatment tables throughout the gym which are perfect for stretching! Another plus = their wonderful eucalyptus towels. Showering after a workout is also a wonderful experience because they provide you with basically everything you need. read more

I just rejoined Equinox after they reopened from the COVID shut down. I can't say enough about how safe these guys make me feel in terms of their cleanliness and precations. If only the gym God's allowed me to afford this gym *sigh* Anyways I was able to visit this location, due to a CapFabb blogger event taking place here. At first it was a bit hard to find but after circling around for parking, I knew exactly where to go. Let's just say it is located in the heart of Bethesda (anyplace with shopping and dining is considered the heart to me). I was greeted as soon as I entered by this FINE black guy (whoo). The ladies of the event were there to direct me to the correct area. We were given mini facials, it felt good at the time, but of course I broke out later. At least the estitician's breath didn't smell (I've had a few bad breath Hildas's). The guy that did the massage, was Scott. He was an older gentleman and he was great. I also like the fact that there was a heated massage table. Before I left on my long journey to Manassas, I checked out the ladies room and it was AWESOME. I mean big and spacious. They even have Kiehl's hair products *score*. I would definitely, join this gym... if I could afford it :-( read more

Be careful of scam artists who work in membership!!!! After visiting the location and deciding it was not worth the $170/month we received a follow up call from a membership advisor who offered us the first month free (after which we could easily cancel) + $250 in spa credits. Turns out the deal that seemed too good to be true actually was and when we went to cancel the membership the employee we worked with had been fired and equinox refused to honor the promotion. As for the gym, the equipment is nice, the yoga classes are mediocre and geared for people who have never done yoga before. read more

I've been a member of Equinox Bethesda since it opened. It is a nice facility, but, and there is always a but, some of their policies are designed to separate you from your hard earned cash in a way that is unfair. For example, purchase a series of personal training sessions and then decide you want to switch to pilates instead. Equinox won't let you transfer from your personal trainer to the pilates instructor. This doesn't seem fair or in the long-term interest of the gym. The personal trainers are Edquinox are ranked as tier one through three based on their training and experience. The tiers also correspond to the hourly rate that you pay. if you start with a personal trainer at one hourly rate and they advance to a higher tier, your rates go up. So, imagine you've established your budet for Equinox (monthly fee + personal training) and then they promote your trainer. Your rates go up. Wouldn't it be nice to grandfather you? It would, but they don't. In full disclosure: I've canceled my Equinox membership for these exact reasons. read more

Let me begin by saying... 3 stars for price and sales promos. 4 stars for the actual facility 4 stars for customer service My partner has a membership to this gym which is located down the street from her office, courtesy of her employer. (Lucky I know!) She got me a one week guest pass, and I have been in awe. First, the locker room is clean, spacious and they have Kiehl's lotion! (A favorite of mine!) This is actually a locker room, that I would NOT mind taking a shower in barefoot. I normally have to bring flip flops to stand in, but here I would probably be alright without them if I needed to be. Upon walking in, you'll see a little mini snack bar with drinks and a clothing store that is SUPER overpriced. I never see anyone shopping in the clothing store, and the female behind the retail desk is not very welcoming or helpful at that. Pool - The pool is good for swimming laps, and quite narrow. Only two people can really swim at one time without overcrowding each other. Not really the best place to swim. Spa - Amazing! Super lux and clean facility. Sauna/Hot Steam Room - OMG, in love! Gym - They have two floors for the gym. They have a cardio room, and another large space on another floor with weights and some other cardio. They have a pretty good amount of machines. My only gripe about the machines is that they don't have personal tv's like my gym does. So you are watching what everyone else is watching, and eh... that's not very fun. Cardio time is when I like to watch my reality shows and/or food network contests. Boo on that. They have more than enough towels at your disposable. They even offer towels dipped in Eucalyptus water - I can't get enough. The personal trainers double as towel givers when you are dripping in sweat and can't see, and don't want to stop your running workout. They'll come over and hand you a towel. Sweet service! They offer classes and yoga, a few different variations of yoga which I really liked. I haven't taken a class, but if I had more time I'm sure I would take advantage of it. The sales people here and employees behind the desk are really nice and welcoming. The only things I really don't like about this place is... No free Wi-Fi, I get that they want to encourage people to work out. But I like to use my phone for Pandora, and I can't here. Boo. Next, the prices are crucial. I get that this is a lux gym and in a prestige neighborhood, but I don't know if it's worth what they charge. It feels a lot different when you are coming here for free! Last, parking... they don't have their own parking. So every time I come here, I have to PAY for parking. While it's not a lot, it's still a pain to look for parking, pay and have to watch the time. Pretty nice gym, very similar to the CRC at the Univ of MD. Dumbbells they have 2 of each set and they increment by the 1/2 pound to 37.5 which I really like. They have set weighted curl bars and straight bars. They have plenty of adjustable benches and a really large ab area plus a variety of medicine balls. The machines are nice but they're Lifefitness machines which I hate. I don't remember what type of plates they have but they're not Ivanko. I use 45s for shrugs and for lower back and Ivanko weighs are perfect for that. Cardio machines are the same at most gyms but there's no Arc Trainer. Overall its a fancy gym/spa. Not really a place a person serious about working out would go but nice for foo foo gym goers. And with a $130 a month price tag I better get a eucalyptus towel and a coco mocha smoothie after every workout. read more

I would much rather go to one of the locally owned Bethesda spin studios than shell out all the money at Equinox for sub par classes. If this gym wasn't the closest to me, I may have reconsidered membership. I have to say I knew I wasn't that impressed during my tour, though the tour guide was very good at her job. This is because I have also been to Life Time multiple times with my friend, and comparing the two--lifetime wins by far. Equinox Bethesda is very small, although the illusion of it being 4 floors makes it seems like it's much bigger. The classes are good--but to be honest, I haven't had time to attend more yet. I hate coming during peak hours, because I find it hard to work out with so many people around. Since I already have little time in my schedule to work out, it's frustrating when it's crowded to have to wait for the equipment I want to use, like the benches or the squat rack. Thank god I don't swim either--the pool is sadly very tiny. A big perk is that there aren't kids running around, and that they basically have everything. The eucalyptus scent towels are super great. I love the shower options on how they have put a wooden/plastic stand over the actual shower tiles. However, I think compared to Life Time and Vida, Equinox isn't as generous with the overall bathroom products--there's no make up remover, for example. I personally don't think the amount I pay is worth what I'm getting at Equinox (and I have a corporate discount). However, having this membership has pushed me to work out more than I used to, especially with it being in close proximity to where I work. read more

I love Equinox. It's not just a gym. It's a spa AND a gym. This location is great. I love the staff (most of them) and the atmosphere. This location is complete with an indoor pool, sauna, spa, yoga studio, pilates studio, and spin studio. The only reason that I'm not giving this place 5 stars is that I am annoyed with the bikes in the spin studio. I am used to being able to calibrate my bike and have it show the wattage and the number of calories I am burning in a class. Only 2 or 3 bikes in the spin studio are calibrated. I asked the manager why the rest are never calibrated, and he said that they are never calibrated except for time trials because that would take too much effort to recalibrate them between each class. I found it annoying because I wanted to know how much I was improving each class. The bikes were calibrated at my other location - it shouldn't be that hard. Anyway, enough of my rant. I like this place because machines are always available and I love their classes. Tomicah is an amazing Pilates instructor- you should definitely try a class of hers. Also, what's not to love about the Kiehl's products in the locker room. I wish they would open one in the heart of DC so I wouldn't have to trek allllllll the way to Bethesda (or Tyson's) just to go to Equinox. read more
