I've been coming to OTF for about 5 months now, and this is probably the best workout experience I've EVER had in my life. I used to see the commercials and heard people always talk about Orange Theory, so one day I called the studio and signed up for my first class (first class is free btw). My coach was Coach Angie who I absolutely adore. She made sure I was okay and pacing myself and I never felt pressured at any point. The front desk staff did a really great job at breaking everything down to me in the beginning about the different zones and splat points, and what my fitness goals are, and just about any and everything else you can think of. When I first started, I bought the 8 class package but then just ended up really loving the classes and my results I got the unlimited package and come about 4 times a week. I usually take the early afternoon classes with either Coach Tiffany or Coach Anella, or sometimes take Coach Maya or Coach Maria's classes, and Coach Kristoff's classes in the evenings. All of the coaches are really great people. They are super fun and supportive and you can really tell that it's not just a job for them. I love love love OTF! read more

IMPORTANT UDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW!! Don't let the slick marketing and design fool you. These people are predatory sheisters who don't give a damn if you injure yourself and will keep billing your credit card long after your membership is cancelled. Below is a breakdown. 1) Poor injury prevention. Warm-ups are purely cursory and there is limited to no supervision during workouts, leading to frequent preventable injuries. I personally was injured twice in one year. 2) Predatory business practices. When I requested a temporary membership freeze because I was injured, I was forced to sign a draconian new contract that required me to continue paying some dues during the freeze and extended the notice window for canceling my original contract, meaning that I would have to continue paying dues even if never recovered from my injuries. 3) Ongoing credit card charges. In the eight months since I've cancelled my membership, they have continued to charge my credit card for monthly dues. My repeated emails about the problem have gone unanswered and the problem persists, even though I cancelled by membership in late 2025. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. UPDATE 6/25/26: THE STUDIO CONTINUES TO FRAUDULENTLY BILL MY CREDIT CARD AND IS NOW THREATENING TO SEND MY ACCOUNT TO COLLECTIONS. FOR BLOCKING CHARGES, ALTHOUGH I CANCELED MY MEMBERSHIP MONTHS AGO AND HAVE SENT COUNTLESS EMAILS DEMANDING THAT THEY STOP BILLING ME. UPDATE 7/26/26: OT HAS SENT MY ACCOUNT TO COLLECTIONS, ALTHOUGH I CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP IN NOVEMBER AND PAID ALL DUES OWED THROUGH THE END OF MY MEMBERSHIP 30 DAYS LATER. read more

If I could give a 0/10 I would. Unfortunately my exit from this company was very traumatizing. I will say the coaches and (some) of the front desk people were cool, but the management team is a complete nightmare. I initally cancled my membership back in march due to a sentive vulnerable medical reason which i explained to the staff. The staff somehow cohersed me into freezing my membership rather than canceling it. When they gave me this option, I was very hesitant because I just didn't know if freezing would make the most sense being that I don't know what the future of my health would be, but they convinced me to freeze my account, leaving out the fact that that means I would be committing to a new month once I came back and finished the month that I had frozen. I will admit that I did not fully understand the freeze process and I missed a lot of information regarding so, there was a lot of miscommunication on both parts and when I tried to get it resolved with the management team it was a horrible conversation. As soon as I got on the phone, the "manager" had a very condescending tone and when I tried to explain why I was upset and confused she kept cutting me off and talking over me. And when I met her with the same energy, she tried to spin it like I was the problematic one. she was not listening to understand, but rather continued on with the conversation to state "facts" and read from her false notes. She gaslighted me the entire time, kept saying "you keep talking over me" as if she wasn't doing the same exact thing, invalidated my experience and feelings just to prove a "point" Breanna or Brenna whatever your name is, if you are reading this, I want you to know that you lack conflict resolution skills, you lie a lot and manipulate your words to prove your point, which tells me that you lack integrity and communication skills. I left the conversation in tears, and later had a horrible panic attack because of how traumatizing that conversation was. She almost even conned me into keeping my membership with them and "waving the fee" something that was never offered to me before . I almost fell for it, but after my panic attack, I reflected on the conversation and realized that I do not want to patronize a business that has that type of management team. It lets me know that if there is an issue, it will be poorly handled because of the type of person the manager is. if you have any sort of auto immune disease that is induced by stress like myself, then I definitely do not recommend this studio because they will send you straight into a flare just like they did with me. I lost out on $200 but I would rather let that money go to waste than to be affiliated with a management team that treats and talk to their members like trash. The management team is more concerned with making their quota than actually doing what's best for their members. read more

This location has poor customer service at the front desk which ruins the overall experience. I've been an OrangeTheory member for over 4 years and have only had issues at this studio with the front desk. Firstly, the location doesn't have much parking so sometimes there is a wait to find a parking space in the lot. Therefore, on two occasions I have made it to the studio right at the 5-minute cut off period and was refused entrance to the class by the front desk. Today, both the class coach and sign-in person wanted to admit me because I was there within 5 minutes of the class start but I was again refused by the front desk. My partner was already in the class and communicated to the staff I was parking. There seems to be no empathy or rationale thinking by the staff member. They mentioned it was " for safety issues" - however this was a Trend50 class. Members walk or run on a trend mill for 50 mintues with very limited coaching and no demonstrations. Unfortunately, I believe these situations were handled poorly and doesn't contribute to a community feeling. read more

I appreciate the workout templates and the coaching staff. My favorite classes are the Tread 50 / Strength 50 - we need more of these on the schedule. I have been a member since 2019. I have been an OTF member for 5 and a half years. Yesterday, I cancelled my membership. As others have mentioned, the front desk staff is unhelpful and unreasonable. They do not have adequate parking for the weekend rush, yet they are completely inflexible about their 5 minute rule. I literally walked in 15 seconds after the cut off (despite getting there early but waiting almost 10 minutes for an available parking spot). Either increase the parking available or increase the time between classes so that there is time for people from the previous class to vacate their parking spot. I have not had this issue at any other location--something needs to be done or you will keep losing loyal customers. I'm not paying $200 a month to be gaslit. read more

I have nothing but excellent things to say about Orangetheory Silver Spring. The managers are polite, accommodating, and deliver excellent customer service. The classes are fun, upbeat, and are a great start to my day. I have recommended this location to many of my friends who have also had the same positive experience as me. read more

UPDATE: I wanted to give this location another try and hopefully update my past review. Sorry girls-- they are still an unpleasant location. I called in for them to help me redeem a class back that was marked on the app that I hadn't signed up for then was redirected to submit a customer service ticket on the OT app --no problem. Corporate then redirected me to call the location back since it's nothing they could really do on their end and it's up to the franchise location to offer me the class back -- okay, no problem. I call the Silver Spring location back and they offered me the class back on the condition that I change my previous review on Yelp. Father, forgive me for being honest on Yelp, a platform meant for transparent reviews from the perspective of a consumer. On the phone, I was clear to Kenny, the studio manager, that my review had no correlation to this current issue and that if I were to revise my previous review, it would only be on the basis that they offered a better experience. I always write a review with the intention of giving visibility to the business but I'm not going to fake a review. If your business is inadequate, then it's inadequate. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Visited the studio while coming in from out of town. Had to complete a new intake waiver online which went smoothly. When I arrived they said they had not received it and I couldn't participate despite being charged the $10 fee. The worst part of this is that I've travelled to many OTFs and there are inevitably issues with systems but the staff is always super helpful in helping clients find a resolution. The person working the desk was completely ineffectual offering no solution and no empathy to the situation. For business that claims more life is its motto this studio is the worst one I've ever been to. read more

In order to attend the complimentary free class for prospective clients, they ask for a credit card. When asked why they needed my card, it was explained to me that it was part of the process but that it WAS NOT GOING TO BE CHARGED. Kenny, as a manager, you need to tell your staff to be upfront about why yall ask for prospective clients' card info. You all will worry someone to death to attend a FREE class but then charge that person $30 for not attending even if it was just a complimentary class that, due to the legendary DMV traffic, I couldn't arrive 30 mins before the scheduled class as instructed. I suggest folks visit La Fitness who will give you a 3 day pass that is not monitored or controlled by time frames and loop holes that will potentially cost prospective clients $30. They have the same classes as well as better options in terms of variety and time slots. I will be blocking that $30 charge as I did not authorize my card to be used by OTF. I canceled the membership 1 year before the pandemic due to the fact that the gym was over sold, meaning desirable class time is booked full at least 7 days out. I made 2 more payments but could not take any classes due to gym's overbooking. The gym owner contacted me for a 3rd payment. I told her I already made 2 payments to you as a donation because you don't have any class space to sell. I don't need to make a 3rd donation. You are making plenty of money with the gym oversold. So I did not get any more request for a 3rd payment for a year. When pandemic hit, she came back and asked for money again. And I told her again the same story. She reported to a debt collector. The debt collector is shady: a consumer is given 30 days to dispute a debt item. When I call the dent collector, it's just a voicemail that told me to call the gym back. There is no way to dispute that charge. Orange Theory is a just a shady buiness. read more

The worst studio in the area, if not the nation. This studio is not and has never been at the same level of other studios in the region. The unethical practice of over-booking and overcharging has been a problem from the beginning. The instructors as well as the managers are inferior in terms of training, enthusiasm and caring -- they turn-over quickly never lasting more than a few months. Even as a founding member, I would get up an hour earlier to drive to other locations because of booking issues and the fact that the instructors are highly trained and motivating at Potomac, Kentlands and Olney. The real problem is the ownership, it has driven good instructors as well as many members to leave. Their business practices are purely motivated by making a profit and it shows. Having already tried out OTF at a different location, I was excited when I found out they were opening up a location in Silver Spring. I immediately went to sign-up as a founding member. I've had NO regrets! In these last 3 years they have been nothing but great! All the coaches and staff have been wonderful and helpful. I love the space & cleaniness of this studio. It's such a fun workout. I have been so proud to be a part of this gym and have accomplished things I never thought I would like running my first half marathon. They have handled the pandemic so well too. I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with them and seeing what more I can accomplish! read more

Classes are great wonderful teachers but the policies are dreadful. I arrived at exactly 7:11, and wasn't allowed entry into 7:05 class. I think some more grace should be extended to members, particularly with the $14 cancellation fee that they tack on. I am aware of the rules but other studios are more flexible and other gyms don't have these kind of policies for $200/month. Also the manager had ZERO and I mean ZERO empathy. Okay, so...I go to OTF to get info about membership (fees, classes, ect.). I get there and ask about membership and the first thing they tell me is that they don't give the prices/fees until after a complimentary workout (I thought that was odd). Anyhow, I chose to listen to the pitch anyway. I'm always willing to try a gym for free before I make a decision. Meanwhile, we go through the entire process of taking my info, me choosing a class AND THEN here comes the kicker...."I just need a credit card.", I'm sorry, why do you need my credit card???? It's to hold the space...I asked, so you need my credit card for me to attend a free class? She says, Yes, it's like a hotel reservation...I gave a side eye and reluctantly gave my card. I was really interested because of a buddy of mine that is having great success at OTF. After about an hour of thought, I decided to call and cancel my "free class", because the credit card on file thing did not sit well with me. I think that is a bad business practice to offer a "free class" and then ask for a credit card. False advertising/bait and switch! I made sure to lock my card as well, just in case they decide to attempt to charge me for something. I'll stay with LA Fitness, I get a discount with them through my insurance anyway and I am not unhappy, just wanted to try something new. read more

I tried out a free class at this location and I had such a great work out. Everyone was super friendly and coach Chloe was awesome! I would love to come back and join the gym but I am not sure about the price it is a little bit out of my budget. Hopefully will be signing up for the 8 classes per month option. Beware! Please be aware of the agreement and cancellation policy. I never received a written response to my email in regards to being billed during an account freeze. After reaching out twice I contacted my bank in concern. As a response, the studio manager threatened to send me to collections during my account freeze and told me that I made a false claim. Excellent experience!!! I burned the most splat points that I ever have, in today's workout!!! This facility is extremely clean, brand spanking new (3 days), and very spacious! There is no validated parking or free garages (except on weekends) which is the only downfall. Everyone in the studio was very friendly from the staff members to my fellow OTFers! I got a full body HIIT workout in just an hour and I really enjoyed it! This is a great combination of cardio and lifting and your coaches really push you to reach your max potential! The restrooms are very clean and equipped with body spray and other little necessities. They have lockers for you to store your personal belongings in that are great for those of us who bring in bags! Overall I am excited to have a new OTF in my hometown and I can't wait to come back soon. read more

Was in the area, so decided to book a class for the evening. Easily done on the app, and then I got a call asking for my credit card information. Apparently your profile is not accessible to other studios so they have to ask for your credit card and I had to fill out another intake form. Just annoying when I have been doing OTF for a month now. The class was good, done by kristoff! I enjoyed endurance day. The studio was a lot more spacious than my home one, and clean per usual. Parking just seems to be the issue. It's in busy downtown silver spring and there is a lot of metered parking and garages. I was able to find a spot on the street after a couple rounds around the block and it was free since it was after 6pm. read more

The coaches have been extremely supportive, always being the energy to class, check in with you on your form and goals, and have some great playlists. I've been going to Orange Theory since September of 2019 and I now actually look forward to working out. The HIIT workouts rotate between the treadmill, the rower and weight trainings. They are intense and highly impactful. Yes they are hard. No, they don't yell at you if you need a minute. Coach Chloe is the best coach I have ever experienced. She pushes us and she makes us smile even during the hardest workouts. PLEASE give Coach Chloe more happy hour classes! I've also had great experiences with all the Coaches and the staff. The policies are firm - don't be late and you cannot cancel within 8 hours of class. This has actually kept me accountable to my workouts. That said the staff has worked with me on the couple occasions that there has been some kind of technology blunder. The prices are medium for this type of class focused workout experience. If you become a member classes are approximately $20 but depend on how many classes you commit to a month. This is a deal when you consider the Soul Cycles, Core Powers, Solid Cores are over $27 a class. You can put your membership on 'vacation' a few times a year which is a must for me because I travel frequently. Yes, there is a 2 month cancellation. I see someone else was given incorrect information and/or bad advice and got stung. Ouch. Potential members should know there are no traditional locker rooms. There are lockable cubbies and there are 2 shower rooms and 2 bathrooms (for up to 40 people). I arrive ready to work out and shower at home. If you're a morning workout person (I salute you) you might have to think about how much time it might take to get cleaned up if you have to stand in line for a shower. I did it once and it didn't take too long, I just don't like working out in the morning. You have the option to purchase one of their heart rate monitors which works with their internal system and records your progress over the course of time but you can just as easily use your own. One of the things I love about OTF is that people come ready to work hard and sweat not to show off or take selfies. The lights are kept low and the music is kept loud. This is not a gym to showcase the latest in athletic apparel. No mobile phones in class ever. read more

If you don't like being billed for 3 months following termination of membership... While OT Silver Spring's front desk staff are friendly and their instructors are energetic and competent, OT management and their corporate policies are disconcerting, and not representative of what you should expect in the fitness industry. When dealing with OT SS, do not expect to receive any sort of accommodation, especially with respect to cancellations (regardless of reason) or termination of service. I recently discovered that OT SS has been erroneously billing me since September. Not only are these charges disconcerting, but in my opinion, OT failed to properly communicate the terms of their membership, namely that they operate on a monthly recurring billing program. At the time I signed up (a bit tired after my first class in the early AM and having no prior experience with OT), I clearly communicated to them that I wanted to try a few more classes before committing longer-term to OT - as I'm sure anyone familiar with fitness programs will agree, its tough to base a decision on one class/one instructor. Once I discovered that I was being billed monthly, I requested an early termination (note: not a refund), but they ultimately held me to their standard cancellation terms, which resulted in me being charged for an additional month. While I found this poor customer service and annoying (as, in my experience, most companies would make an exception to the cancellation policy under these circumstances), I took partial responsibility for not carefully reviewing the fine print and, thus, refrained from further protest and writing a Yelp review or otherwise negatively critiquing OT at that time. However, given my most recent experience with OT, I feel a bit vindicated. Now I understand that technical mistakes occur, but my withdrawal from OT was a bit "noisy" - i.e., I had several discussions with management regarding termination. And they still got it wrong... As a fitness enthusiast, if you are taking class at OT SS, I'm sincerely happy for you and my compliments to their instructors for working hard to improve lives. Unfortunately, however, its businesses like OT SS that make it imperative to: (i) read the fine print carefully; and (ii) review all of your account statements. And when dealing with management, you should expect service comparable to that of the IRS or DMV (no offense to anyway employed by either of these agencies). As an aside, I've been to Barry's and SweatBox several times - the latter is a locally-run interval fitness program offered through Vida (a wonderful establishment). In my opinion, both programs are superior to OT, not only in terms of fitness experience, but also customer service and, equally important, sense of community. If you haven't tried these programs, I strongly recommend that you do so. read more

I've tried many gyms, but nothing tops Orangetheory. I joined when they first opened and had to cancel a few months due to the pricing. It's all I thought about when I wasn't attending classes, so I signed up again. The coaches and staff are truly amazing- they push you day in and day out to be the best version of yourself. It's such an amazing community that will keep you coming back. The workouts are never the exact same which is refreshing because repetitiveness gets boring at times. read more

iI complain about this place but it's because I am being dramatic. This is really a nice place to get your workout done. The staff was super friendly and encouraging. The teacher was really knowledgeable and was able to give everyone her attention. The workout was fun and I really like the monitors because I could follow my progress for the hour. This studio started out great. Amazing even! Had the sweetest person help me with setting up and getting a membership started. The classes were great as well. Loved the idea of this type of workout. My problem with this studio is as follows: For money reasons ($170 a month is pretty steep guys), I only wanted one month unlimited membership and they had zero objections to this when I told them. So, when I signed up, I filled out the membership and cancellation forms on the same day. The studio does give a 3 day grace period for buyers remorse (Ill come back to this later). Over two weeks later i was notified that they could not process my cancellation form because they require a minimum of two months with the studio. I SPECIFICALLY asked if there was a minimum requirement before I signed the membership form, and was told that they did not. After some back and forth with the management, they said that I could *PAY MORE MONEY* to freeze the account but still have to pay the $170 at a later date. THIS IS A SCAM! Poor communication and bad marketing which leaves me paying a bunch of extra money for a place I refuse to set foot in again. There was no "we will work with you" or "here are your options" but a very black and white, "PAY US" mentality. I was astonished that THIS was how they reel people in. Had they told me within the 3 days, I would have cancelled the membership and not have ever gotten in this mess to begin with. Side note: The classes are fun and the instructors are high energy, and most of the front desk staff is very polite. Bottom line: This place is great if you want to stay with them forever. Just dont try to cancel. You will pay and pay and pay and pay and pay and pay for it. Time. Frustration. Money. read more

I love the concept of Orangetheory and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful! However I was disappointed with the lead Orangetheory coach (Maya) at the Silver Spring location. As a second timer, unfamiliar with the exercises I couldn't believe how she called me out about what I was doing wrong while her speaker was on! I was so embarrassed!!! Her attitude about providing modifications to exercises for others was also disheartening... Instead of giving positive encouragement she appeared to criticize. I will say I did appreciate her enthusiasm for pushing through the workouts... Would love to take the class again, but maybe try a different instructor until I'm more comfortable with the concept. read more

I've been doing OrangeTheory in the northern VA area now for months so when I had a business event that required I stay in Silver spring I decided to give it a go. I couldn't sign up through the app which was annoying. So I called to make an appointment and gave them the cc info over the phone. They then asked me to come in ten minuets earlier which is fine all standard stuff. However, not being from the silver spring area I got lost walking around for 30 minuets making me 15 minuets late for the class I called and explained what had happened and asked if the late cancellation fee was absolutely necessary. I understand policies are put into place for a reason however I find it rude to still charge me the $12 while being honest. I didn't make the ten minuet cut off so I had to take the loss. At my home gym they allow us to come in after the ten minuet cut off all the time however over the phone the woman said do not bother. Disappointed with management for thinking it was necessary. I'll be in the area more often because of work but will not be using this studio. read more
