I primarily use Equinox Newport Beach for free weights and treadmills, and it's been a great experience. The treadmills and equipment are well-maintained and noticeably more modern compared to my home location in Palo Alto. The men's locker room is clean and well-kept, and the AC is kept at a comfortable temperature throughout the club, though the treadmill section could stand to be cooler. Front desk staff are super friendly and welcoming every time I come in. You also get 2 hours of free parking validation. The club itself is on the smaller side, but the spacing is great, never feels cramped or like you're fighting for equipment. read more

I would say the gym itself is nice and most of the staff are friendly. However, I lost my engagement ring there. It's not only valuable but also has great sentimental meaning to me. Unfortunately, the management made very little effort to help me find it. They didn't allow me to post any signs about the lost ring and didn't even notify their staff to keep an eye out for it. It felt like the situation was simply brushed under the rug. For a high-end gym, I expected much more care and concern for what happens to their members. Instead, I felt ignored and extremely disappointed. I even asked to cancel my membership because I no longer feel secure there, but that request was denied as well. My favorite gym in OC!! It's well-maintained, clean, quiet, and spacious. Parking is in the structure but can be validated at the front desk. There is no sauna, but there is a steam room + showers. I've taken a sound meditation class and it was truly so relaxing. The yoga classes here are really great & restorative. There is an Earthbar inside, which has smoothies, bowls, toast, etc which is super convenient after a workout! Overall, I love this gym! Get the membership! read more

Equinox on Jamboree may be smaller than some other locations, but it's hands-down my favorite. The locker room and sauna area are spotless, always clean, and it smells amazing. Yes, being a smaller gym means there might be fewer machines or classes compared to larger Equinox clubs, but the atmosphere is wonderful. This is the best Equinox in OC IMO. I've been to the Huntington Beach one (great views) and the Main Street Equinox, but the Newport Beach one is the best overall. It's always super clean, you can get on weights/equipment easily, staff is super friendly, and they pretty regularly get in new equipment, different handles, etc. The GM Jordan is always cruising the floor and saying "hi" to members - setting a good vibe for the gym. read more

I've been a member at this Equinox since 2019. The only reason I'm leaving is because I'm moving, and I'm so sad about it! Everyone is so kind, from the front desk staff and maintenance crew to the class instructors and trainers. I trained with Chris Manous, and I can't recommend him enough! He is so knowledgable, welcoming, and fun to train with. I looked forward to my sessions every week, and I've gotten stronger and learned so much. He really tailors the sessions to your goals and is a great motivator. My favorite class instructor is Michael Gilbert. He teaches cycle and he is the best! Every class is a blast, and he makes everyone feel seen and welcomed. His classes are always full, and there's good reason for that! Equinox Newport has recently undergone a significant transformation regarding their spa! I love all things beauty, facials, and skin rejuvenation. The gym over all is a wonderful place that is safe & professional. Being a member here for the last 4 years I have yet to meet the spa staff I booked a facial with Sam at the spa and she not only sculpted my entire face but gave me insight on how I can keep up with this at home: We did a 50 minute facial sculpt massage with unique skin care being used during the session. She was so kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable I booked a microdermabrasion for later this month with her & would HIGHLY recommend coming to Sam before you head to grab some Botox or a facial elsewhere. I really need help getting this Refunded Rebekah completely ended up ignoring me after she said that she was leaving for the weekend on a break. Annie said the same thing about 10 times...Also the phone call conversations that we had were obviously not recorded. I dont have proof of her saying the promises she gave. Which is unfortunate and I feel bamboozled and tricked into the membership . I genuinely feel so sad that this is occurring because I really did enjoy Equinox gym and the friends I made there. Even though I was being contacted by Rebekah as well....after completely being ignored by Annie after she realized that I have been trying to contact her to cancel and she had specifically told me " Gihae I Promised You I Will get you All the Money refunded from the time that you did not enter the Gym, I Promise You. Please Don't be stressed over this anymore and we will get it fixed". Ended the calls and then later said that she has all of a sudden " Yea Im just the middle man at this point lol" (in the texts) ....She promised me over the phone that it was already; being processed & cancelled....months ago. Annie said that I would get all the months I did not go because she told me I was good to go in March/April (Wherever was said on the texts and emails).... When Annie gave up and told me to reach back out to Rebekah...she knew my name when she was first emailing me because my documentation I was sending had my full name... She then suddenly switched my name to Michelle.....Rebekah & Annie completely ended up ignoring me after she said that she was leaving for the weekend on a break. Annie said the same thing about 10 times. I CC'd them both with my responses with my name on the screenshots and paperwork and account name on the following Monday My name is Gihae.... and it goes to show the disrespect of her not even replying & later sending me emails intentionally typing my name as Michelle... All of my accounts show that my name is Gihae Hong....Not Michelle.... It's not even my legal name Nor did I sign up with anything that says Michelle. Just wanted to inform you guys about that as well ... Super disrespectful & Very obvious There are also pictures of me being contacted by the Equinox Instagram Page. After no replies I was frustrated because they replied only when they saw that I actually had a following that could impact the name ,and my influence over my fans brought up a lot of other people that had signed up and had a terrible experience with cancellations. Claiming that you guys are "hell to Cancel with" I'm very sorry for posting it on my story but I needed someone to reach out ! I have the messages between the account basically of Equinox telling me that they too would get this issue resolved and saw that I had " Rebekah from the club has been in contact.She will be the appropriate person to help with this cancellation and will assist you further with this issue".... this was never resolved...Not even an apology for a customer. Just a reply to get me to shut up. Rude beyond words. I have the email of Rebekah telling me that she would reply to me once she was off her "break for the weekend" . I feel very used and exhausted from the amount of effort I have to put in just to prove that I was doing what I was told, to cancel this membership Months ago and that I should be reimbursed This is not including the hacked account on the first day, the mistreatment at the Santa Monica Location for trying to use a restroom and being told I didn't have the upgraded account to be allowed entry into the club...which we talked about and saw that I actually did have that membership level. Socal Pass. and the Person that tried to literally hurt me for using a squat rack in the Downtown Los Angeles Gym. I never used the passes given to me for the 2-3 guest passes. I never received the promised 3 Day pass for my Father when I initially signed up , and 99% of the promises made to me were absolutely unfulfilled. I even tried to help Annie when she locked herself out of her car the first month of me being there. She had called me asking for help too....It's ridiculous . I enjoyed the Janitors, the Cleaning ladies and the Front Desk people more than I enjoyed my experience with Equinox, Please don't treat people less than just because they didn't pay for the $500 or $25k a year pass . Well again first time here in a while and they made those important changes. The locker room mostly re-done with automatic locks on the lockers and generally well done with some nice wood all around. Some other notes. This place really has about everything on the floor and some new things added. Also, with the Equinox Sports Club pretty close, this place does not seem to get too crowded so plenty of room. Updgrade to 5 stars seems appropriate. read more

This is the saddest Equinox I've ever been to. I thought Encino was bad. As the young folk say "this isn't giving"-- when something is subpar or meh. I feel this applies to this location. It's meh. I definitely would cancel my membership if this was my home gym situation everyday. Not worth the 265+ monthly for this. 1 star for the strong water in the showers. Staff was friendly. It was clean enough. Not DTLA Equinox staff bleaching the mats and cleaning machines 24/7 type of clean, but not Beverly Hills No Soap in 3 sink dispensers dirty. The locks aren't the integrated pincode type. Not a fan of having to bring your own lock. Layout: yikes. it felt like a big play yard. Everything together. I went to the front desk and asked where the rest of the gym was. They said this was it. I said "oh" The trainers hog up machines and squat racks for a really long time. That's kind of annoying but I guess it's bringing in additional revenue so can't really blame them. read more

My daughter is a Harvard student. Since she doesn't have much of work experience and wanted to have a job with flexible hours, decided to sign up for Pilates class at Equinox. They notice her interest, promised her after she completes the program, they will offer her a job which is a BIG LIE!!! My daughter finished and paid for the program in Pilates total of $8,730), Yoga Sculpted (over $1100) and Reiki ($1500). Besides the monthly tuition of $650, she had to pay for 4 private sessions per month ($80 for each) which makes it additional $320 per month! Always on-time for her classes and besides completing the required hours for those classes, my daughter has over 210 hours of extra training. As soon as she graduated from the program, the manager at Huntington Beach who is in charge hiring and I may add has attitude issue, not only didn't acknowledge her present, she totally ignored my daughter and when another teacher introduced my daughter, she didn't even let her speak and rudely walked away!!!! They charge so much for the program with false promises. The teachers really liked my daughter and still keep in-touch with her. My daughter is discouraged and disappointed and feels like our money was wasted!!! If anyone is thinking about joining or taking classes, don't waste your time and money unless they put it in writing. They have many unhappy employees and notice lots of turnovers. Pros: - gym layout is simple and good - clean - front desk staff are nice - the outdoor basket ball court and pool look very nice Cons: - outdated cardio machines - Parking is in a structure across the street and takes away some of your validation time just by walking from your parking spot to the gym door. - Hard to find as a first time guest - the locker rooms are EXTREMELY outdated. And no integrated locks! (Bring your own!) way too subpar as compared to other locations. Equinox is one of the more expensive gyms however it doesn't seem that way. There's a nice selection of equipment and the classes are excellent. However the parking garage is hit or miss. The gate system fails endlessly, if you buzz security to let you out they give you attitude to no end. Equinox is aware but say it's not their problem it's the land lords responsibility. Funny how taking several hundred dollars a month in membership with parking makes them think it's not their problem. Maybe if they were forced to pay every member $100 every time they were imprisoned in the garage they'd change their attitude. And yes we know it's because the machines are old and iPhone and android phones erase the tickets. But seriously who has an android or iPhone these days. read more

Don't ever get trapped here. I made a mistake of not reading "the contract" which the person who explained it to me said, "I can cancel at anytime." (My fault) but he didn't specify "after my contract is done"which is kinda tricky. I keep emailing to pause and cancel and they want you to go through hoops. Doctors notes which is hard for me to get appointments and get a note. It's been 2 months of paying. I have a knee injury and cannot workout. I keep emailing. Just asked to put on hold and the person said I cannot do that anymore. My doctors appointment is tomorrow and I probably have to beg for him to give me a note from a face time appointment. Now not working out 3 months at 200$ is a bit unethical. I will NEVER go here or get a membership ever again. I will tell all my clients never to get trapped here. My friends and I went to go try the gym out (there were 4 of us) 3 out of 4 of us had appointments to try the gym for the day and we told them ahead of time for the 4th because she wasn't from the US so no ID/email to make the appointment. Even with this, the membership rep said he didn't know you would have so much people were a really exclusive club I need to ask my manager if it's ok. So he goes and grabs his manager and I am absolutely shook she comes out and drops an F-bomb (I forgot in what context) and says the same thing "we're a really exclusive club we don't normally let people just work out for a day or whatever so we need to know who's actually interested in getting a membership" I continue to tell her we're all interested and she just kind of rolls her eyes and says come on we're gunna 'allow' you guys to all use the club today we just need to know who's legit. (Her exact words) After this I was still talking to the membership guy about membership and because I don't live in Newport Beach I was asking would I be able to upgrade to the SoCal pass if I start out with the one location pass. Immediately he got really defensive again saying you have to be a member to have those benefits... and at this point I'm just done. The whole experience was just horrific, I felt like we were being attacked from the moment we walked in. And honestly my mani pedi cost more than one month membership, my purse cost more than two years membership. We got a membership at another gym right after this experience. Not here-the Tier X trainers have specialized education and assessment equipment that really helps with achieving performance goals. -they have a spa and shop on site.
