OVERVIEW: This is my favorite LA Fitness location in the Irvine / Lake Forest area. It's not perfect, but no place is ever perfect. PROS: - I LOVE THE SQUAT RACK ROOM !!! IT was an excellent business idea to transform that space from a basketball court to a dedicated area for leg workouts. - The venue is physically large. So you've lots of room for specialized training and stretching, even if the yoga room is in session. - In addition to the aforementioned dedicated squat rack / leg training room, this facility has all of the weight training equipment you can imagine, all the way down to kettlebell sets. - The health drink bar is a GREAT addition. My daughter loves the drinks there. I'm not sure if the bar is making any profit, but I hope that this bar is for the long-term. CONS: - This place can get crowded. Also, the general vibe of the place changes entirely based on the time you are there. Since it's so close to Woodbridge HS, the broccoli-haired teens will swarm the place after 2:30 PM. Lunchtime will get you the senior citizen crowd and a bunch of dudes from the Irvine Fire Department, (who are actually cool guys) Good luck with the after work crowd as well. Get there in the early morning and you get those fanatics who are hitting personal best goals each day and those highly motivated people who want to squeeze in an hour of training before work. So actually, the best time to go there is: (This probably applies to most gyms as well) A) Around 9 AM to 11:30 AM when many have gone to work or school, and before the senior citizens arrive. B) 12:45 PM to 2:30 PM when the crowd goes back to work, the senior citizens go home and before the high school kids arrive. C) 8:30 PM to closing as the crowd thins down. - There can be a lot of muscle heads and women who want to film themselves and their assets while working out. This demographic can spend too much time on a machine, which can be frustrating if you have to wait forever for them to finish so you can use the same machine. read more

I like coming to this LA fitness location as the weights and floor area has this open and bright concept. Good area for arms and legs days. Their swimming pool was recently remodeled and I'm glad it's finally open. The unfortunate thing is that this pool is quite cold. They rarely turn on the heat so this pool is quite cold when you get in for your swim. I also take their swimming pool aqua classes and really like Carol as the instructor. She's really good at teaching and works all body parts and joints. She always reminds us of our posture so we do our exercises correct. The women's locker room can be improved. The shower stall have weak water pressure and some of the shower heads barely have any water. They also redid the soap dispenser and I feel the soap doesn't do a good job at cleaning so I have to bring me own. Due to lots of use at this gym the locker room and shower areas are always wet and there's hair and remnants of trash everywhere. I do see the cleaning crew constantly cleaning the locker room bits I know it's hard to keep up. Overall good place to get your workout in. There also sign up specials in January for those New Years resolutions. read more

My wife and I signed up through my OnePass membership about a week ago. The good - staff is friendly. Signup was quick (about 10 minutes or so). Weights and machines are relatively clean and maintenance seems to be active on broken machines. There's a good amount of open space, especially on the turf which not too many people seem to use often. The not so good - free weights are all over the place, specifically the dumbbells. As expected, IT GETS BUSY. Especially after 12pm with high school kids on summer break, but the gym is big enough to get a solid workout in. I've found the best times to go are weekdays in the morning. Good luck! read more

LOVE LA FITNESS AS A WHOLE, this review is for the newly hired inexperienced and narcisstic Pilates teachers, Kate (Aussie), Rita and Nancy. Took Kate's class again today thinking she might have gotten some updated education yet unfortunately she didn't. I will re-emphasize, that Pilates is SUPPOSE TO BE A CALM & RELAXING environment, with derp breathing, happy music and soothing teachers voices to give guidance on the exercise and form, as needed NOT TALKING INCESSANTLY! No one has explained this to Kate. She TALKS NON STOP THROUGHOUT CLASS WITH NOT MORE THAN 1 SECOND BREAK and no music! The last class I took with Kate was basically a mat class. Guess she was told to use the reformer as that is why it's a reformer class and now she does yet in a very unbalanced and awkward way. Today's class with her was 30 minutes of standing butt exercises with 5-10 min arms. She isn't able to balance the class it seems. Kate could benefit from taking a class with Master Teacher, Stefania. Stefania, a true expert at reading her audience, and 15 yrs experience, takes in consideration participants age and fitness level. Suggesting and advising adjustments for injuries or limitations! Stefania balances difficult and easy exercises for all body areas to give a full body workout. ALSO, today Kate left the class early to talk to mgr instead of waiting until the class left, which was rude. I had to do her job by advising a young lady who barged into our class while we were all still in it and explain to her re: class etiquette which is to wait outside until we are truly finished with our class. read more

I absolutely love taking Pilates classes with Stef! She is an incredible instructor--very professional, patient, and always pays attention to every detail. She explains each movement clearly and makes sure everyone is doing the exercises correctly and safely. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great Pilates instructor! I've been a member for quite a while, and unfortunately this location has steadily declined. The biggest issue is the customer service at the front desk. Many of the staff come across as unwelcoming and dismissive rather than helpful. Simple interactions often feel like you're inconveniencing them instead of being a valued member. A little customer service training would go a long way. I also had a frustrating experience trying to cancel my membership. I was repeatedly told to wait for a manager who never appeared, which gave the impression that the process was being unnecessarily delayed in hopes that I would give up and leave. I left for about three minutes to walk back in and see managers just sitting around. Whether intentional or not, it made for a very poor customer experience. Another challenge is how crowded this location has become, especially with large groups of local high school students. During busy hours it's often extremely difficult to find an available machine, making workouts far less productive than they should be. Overall, this location feels poorly managed. The staff morale seems low, management doesn't appear very engaged, and recurring issues don't seem to get addressed. The facility itself has potential, but it would benefit greatly from stronger leadership, better customer service, and more attention to the member experience. read more

Been going to this gym for sometime, and am always greeted with a smile and hello, which is nice, as I can imagine saying that over and over would get old I gotta say, the upgraded leg room is legit. The new setup gives you more options, and plenty of room, even during busy times. The locker room is decent, but the towels are out a lot, and the faucets in the sinks never seem to read my hands are there, so getting water to wash hands is annoying. Trainers are friendly and will give advice if asked, and not pushy, bugging you during your workout to discuss if you want training or not. Music isn't too loud to interrupt my headphones, and the songs aren't terrible if I forget em. I'll def keep going, as I could use the work (Not sure how to respond to comments, so I'll do it here. Paper towels being stocked, and working sinks are not "Unique needs" I was kind on this review, and your response makes me want to change that. Be Better!!! read more

I have been a loyal LA Fitness member for many years, and I am extremely disappointed with the way the Pilates program is being managed. I only attend Pilates classes with one instructor because she is experienced, consistent, and provides an excellent workout. Unfortunately, management has taken away most of her classes and replaced them with several new instructors. I have tried some of the new teachers, but they simply do not offer the same quality or experience. As a paying member, I should be able to continue taking classes with the instructor who keeps me motivated and coming back. Instead, it feels like management is constantly changing instructors without considering what members actually want. Many of us joined because of the outstanding long-time instructors, yet they seem to be losing classes while new teachers are continually being added. It is frustrating and disappointing, and if this continues, I will seriously consider canceling my membership. I hope management starts listening to its members before more loyal, long-term members decide to leave read more

Literally my favorite LA Fitness of the moment, and I've been to them all in Orange County. This location is clean, spacious, and very enjoyable to get a workout in. I love how the weight room has enough benches for many to lift without having to wait. I have only been here a couple of times, and have yet to check out all the machines because there are so many. I love the grass area in the middle, where we can get mobility and ab workouts done. I simply just love this gym! Parking can get busy, but it is a big lot so you will always find parking. Never leave reviews for gyms and honestly the Westwood LA Fitness I used to frequent was a mess. To my shock, this location was the friendliest and cleanest gym I've ever been to; and I've been to many. Two years ago, I purchased a three-year membership for my 76-year-old mother for just under $1,000. I fully understood her age, and I only agreed to buy it because the salesperson promised I could transfer it if needed. That promise was the key factor. After just one month, my mother couldn't continue due to health. When I asked to transfer it to my husband, they refused. Management denied the promise, saying the salesperson is gone. Instead, they only offered to postpone the membership for a fee. I explained my mother won't return at all, yet they gave no other solution. It's now been two years, and they still have not resolved this. I feel misled, as I would never have purchased it without that promise. read more

Decent gym, big workout space. Theres usually machines down for an extended amount of time, but with the high usage that's understandable. They don't regularly stock the cleaning wipes enough, and they certainly need more locations on the workout floor of the wipes. But the workout space is pretty clean over all. The main gross part is the men's locker room. It's pretty bad. It's Never clean, sauna is consistently down, and the smell is absolutely atrocious. Certainly seems like they are under staffed in the cleaning department . So if you can avoid the locker room it's a solid gym. Overall I recommend getting in a workout here, but avoid the locker room if possible . read more

The LA Fitness Barranca location is a beautiful facility, but my experience with the staff and management in March 2026 was unacceptable. I was sold a membership under misleading circumstances, had an annual fee slipped into the contract without it ever being mentioned in the sales conversation, and was then met with a confrontational response when I tried to address it. The sales rep who signed me up, Stone, never mentioned the annual fee. During our conversation I clarified the pricing directly. I asked if the membership was $34 per month, with first and last month paid upfront, plus a $25 initiation fee, and the ability to cancel at any time. Based on what he told me, it sounded like a straightforward month to month membership after the initial payment. I asked for time to think about it, and he pushed back with "what else do you have to think about?" and encouraged me to sign up immediately. I was then rushed through more than a dozen signatures on a tablet. The annual fee was never mentioned in conversation. It was buried somewhere in the contract terms I was hurried through signing. Had that fee been disclosed verbally, it would have changed my decision that day. When I later noticed the charge, I called the gym and was told I would need to come in person to speak with someone. When I arrived, I waited nearly 45 minutes before being helped. Stone eventually called me over and denied misleading me, then brought over the manager, Robert Whitney. The interaction started professional but quickly became confrontational. I explained that failing to disclose a mandatory fee during a sales pitch is deceptive and that I was prepared to file formal complaints if the charge was not refunded. His response was, "I don't respond well to threats." After some back and forth, including him lecturing me about how "we're a business," it became clear he had no interest in resolving the issue. I told him the interaction had been terrible and that I was done with the conversation. His response was a scoffing, "Yeah, I'd agree." Be cautious dealing with the sales staff at this location. Ask directly about every fee and do not let yourself be rushed through the contract. My experience involved high pressure sales tactics, incomplete disclosure of fees, and management that was dismissive when the issue was raised. I have filed complaints with state and federal consumer protection agencies and disputed the charge with my credit card company so others do not have the same experience. read more

I was looking for a gym with a lap pool to stay in swimming shape for my periodic snorkeling trips in the ocean. Back in 2023, I went on a 3-day in a row snorkel trip at 3 different islands without having been in the pool in 6 months and that was not cool! Don't do that! If you are going in the deep ocean--you need get your swim muscles in condition for at least 2 months--once a week swim beforehand. 4 months in advance is better. Best time to visit a prospective gym is 5 to 7 pm Monday and Weds. This is the busiest time of the week and you can see if the equipment you like is available, classes available, and if you can handle the crowds? I stopped in on Weds at about 5 PM dressed with a white dress shirt and tie, dress pants and shoes--and it was packed here. But not so busy that you could not do what you wanted and the pool had room for a couple more swimmers. I told the front desk that I was not a member and wanted a tour. Then 3 different people asked me if I was member? Including one woman behind the desk that asked me twice a couple of minutes apart if I was a member? They then introduced me to the manager who sat me down at a desk and asked a bunch of questions and made notes. He had an accent that made it difficult to understand everything he was saying but I made like I understood what he was saying. He also had me stand up and perform a physical fitness test right there at this desk in the lobby. One of the seminal tests he gave me was to stand straight with feet together, don't bend knees and see if you can touch your toes. I do this at home with some knee bend but I failed his lobby test--I could not touch my toes! Boom! He concludes I need a gym ASAP! You do it at home--if you cannot touch your toes without bending your knees--you need LA Fitness!! If you can touch your toes--you can be an instructor at LA Fitness. He then toured me around the gym pointing out some equipment that he likes--some I have never seen before. I was a gym rat when I was younger--but they have some cool things now thanks to AI... He showed the Pilates studio class in session and touted the benefits. I told him that I thought Pilates was for women--but he corrected me and told me how a man invented in during WWII and that he in fact was a class participant and I should seriously consider Pilates classes because it will help me touch my toes and give me a few more inches. I definitely can use a few more inches... Last we finished up with the pool. He went over the monthly prices that I thought were very reasonable: $40.00 a month all clubs in California, cancel anytime, pay 1st and last month up front. He offered me a 7-day in a row consecutive free pass and I asked him if I can hold that until I am ready to commit that week? He said he would email me his contact information and the pass information for when I wanted to use it but I never received anything from him and it's been a couple of weeks. At some point I will followup on this. In the meantime--I am working at home on touching my toes. read more

LA Fitness (Crossroads) in Irvine does not disappoint! Over the past few years, new managers have come on board that really care about the gym, the programs, and member needs. I am grateful to the manager Robert especially. While he is professional, knowledgeable and kind, he is also a great problem solver. A few months ago I wanted to do more than Pilates and he educated me on all the new programs. He helped me upgrade my membership plan to add the Glute Room and 50-50, which I absolutely love and highly recommend to anyone that's looking to kick it up a notch. I can see the changes in my body in a few short months, and I'm feeling really good physically and mentally. Another great thing about LAF are the coaches. Pilates, Glute Room and 50-50 coaches share their expertise with us while providing great workouts that are challenging and fun. If you're looking for a first class experience, stop by LA Fitness at Crossroads. Again, you will not be disappointed. read more

The timer for men's jacuzzi doesn't seem to work. It is supposed to turn it off automatically after 15 minutes, but it rarely does. I think they could save their electric bill by fixing it. On the contrary, the timer at their Jamboree location turns itself off after 15 minutes. I had to restarted it. read more

My partner developed a neuromotor disability several months ago. I wanted him to use the Silver Sneakers program through Medicare in order to ride a stationary bike and use the rowing machine in order to help with muscle strength. The agent convinced me that it would be better to have a trainer for three months at 8 sessions per month. The first time that he went, he fell and injured his knee and the trainer screamed "I can't train him" and didn't help him up off the floor. His son was there and helped pick him up and some other individual in the gym bandaged his knee. His doctor stated that he should not participate in the gym or any gym and now LA Fitness is stating that I have to pay for the remainder of the contract. I was told by the sales agent that we signed with that this was for three months or 1500 dollars and now that agent is gone and LA Fitness is stating that no it is for 6 months and therefore they want me to pay an additional 2500 dollars for a one time session where he actually was injured. Definitely think that they only care about lining their pockets. read more

LA Fitness removed the paper towel dispenser near the bathroom sinks because people were using the towels after swimming (that's was the reason given by one of the staff). Now there are no paper towels after washing your hands--only an air dryer that many people avoid. As a result, members walk all the way to the front with water dripping everywhere just to reach the only paper towel dispenser, which was out of towels today. This creates a clear slip-and-fall hazard and a serious liability issue. Wet floors throughout women locker room are only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Saving a few rolls of paper towels is not worth risking injuries. Poor decision and worse execution. read more

BEWARE! Deceptive practices and terrible management here. I was on a month-to-month PT program and texted to cancel it. The PT manager, completely ghosted me for over two weeks. When I finally confronted him in person, he didn't apologize--he just said he was too busy. He lied straight to my face multiple times, claiming my cancellation was fully processed. When I told him I hadn't received any confirmation email, he lied again, claiming their system frequently fails to deliver emails to Gmail accounts. So, I demanded to see his computer screen with my own eyes. My program was not canceled at all and it was set up as a 5-month commitment without my agreement. When caught in his lie, he tried to shift the blame to the VP. My next automatic billing date is right around the corner, and they are still refusing to fix their fraud. I even got the message from the manager claiming that the VP had canceled it, but it is still not canceled. This place will literally tamper with your contract behind your back and lie to your face to steal your money. Never, ever sign up for a PT program at this gym. Absolute nightmare! read more

I've been a regular member here - for over 20 yrs. overall, I appreciate the space, the equipment, and especially the staff. One moment in particular stood out positively--one of the team members promptly and respectfully reminded a member to put their shirt back on. That kind of enforcement matters, and I noticed it. That said, I do want to share something that's been affecting my experience lately. There's been a noticeable increase in people filming or live-streaming their workouts. I completely understand social media is part of modern fitness culture, but as someone who comes here simply to exercise, decompress, and move in peace, it's becoming distracting and uncomfortable. I'm not looking for a content studio. I'm just trying to work out without worrying about being in someone's video or navigating tripods and phone setups. If there were clearer boundaries around filming--or designated areas or times--it would go a long way in preserving the environment for members who just want a straightforward, respectful gym experience. Used the app to get a guest pass for a friend, been a member since 2021 never had an issue with VIP guest passes. Omar decided to charge us $20 for the FREE guest pass. I asked where to see their policy but he said he did not have access to it, only the manager can. Why isn't an employee allowed to have access to a simple policy is beyond me. He told us to wait in the lobby because he had to take a conference call... Even though you pay for whatever highest membership they offer. Lied about everything when I signed up with this gym, I do not recommend. read more

Way to react to someone telling you there is multiple hazards situation from lack of maintenance. Maybe I should give a call to OSHA. So once again!! Same situation from 3 years ago, and a year ago. machine down for months, dumbbells nowhere to be found, and now since the new remodeling new ROUGE benches with loose bolts or completely off the padding. Good luck trying to find dumbbells. Never seen a gym with broken machines for months, and lack of maintenance. OHHH YEAH I SHOULD GO TO ANOTHER GYM BUT THE CONVENIENCE OF LIVING 5 mins from it.
