I've been a member of LA Fitness on Michelson Drive since 2021, and even though I've had opportunities to join other premium gyms like Equinox and Lifetime Fitness, I've continued choosing LA Fitness because it fits my lifestyle the best. The club is spacious, bright, well designed, and easy to access. I appreciate the towel service, the layout, and how convenient it is to get in and out. Overall, it has been a great place to work out, and that is why I have remained a loyal member for several years. As I began bringing family members with me, however, I noticed a few areas where I believe the club could become even better. One of the biggest opportunities for improvement is the addition of a family restroom. Some families, including those caring for minors or individuals with disabilities or other support needs, may require assistance from a caregiver of the opposite sex. A dedicated family restroom would make the club much more accessible and welcoming. As more families are living with autism and other developmental disabilities, I believe this would be a valuable addition that reflects the needs of today's community. I also have a few suggestions that I think would make an already great club even better: * Add a family restroom. * Reopen the additional court that has been closed for a long time, potentially increasing pickleball availability. * Open and utilize the dedicated training area for glute-focused workouts, similar to other LA Fitness locations. * Offer specialized glute and core fitness classes. * Consider adding group martial arts classes such as kickboxing or Taekwondo. I believe these would attract many new members and make this location stand out even more. Overall, I still enjoy this club and plan to continue my membership. The facility is excellent, and the management has generally been supportive and helpful. read more

Recently joined and overall the equipment is in good shape. Locker rooms and showers have plenty of space. Seems to have a good class schedule. Although you need more light weights. The 5-15lb range are impossible to find because there are few and they are never put back in the right place. It's like a scavenger hunt before you work out. Also you need more wipe stations because I literally never see anyone wipe their weights or equipment down which is pretty gross. And I have yet to see an employee actively cleaning anything either. The showers need better deep cleans as there is soap buildup in the corners, and why do the shower heads only come out like a hose instead of having a nice wide spray attachment? read more

If you are gonna get a membership here, make sure you plan to never cancel it because if you want to cancel it, it is impossible. I was looking for a place that had indoor Pickleball. The sales person lied to me and told me there was. I had made it very clear. The only reason I was getting a membership was because I wanted to play pickleball. They're in fact is no indoor Pickleball court. It's only racquetball. Not possible to play pickleball unless you put down your own lines on the ground or put up a net ..... I called them and ask them how I can cancel the membership, they said I can send an email or come in person to cancel. I sent an email, no response. Followed up on the email no response. If I don't cancel the membership within two weeks, I will be charged the annual fee. I do not want to pay the annual fee. When they're trying to sell you something to you, they do not stop calling you but when you call them and try to cancel the membership, they will never return your phone call. At this point this gym is giving me the runaround. I called in the morning. The guy told me the manager, Bree, would call me back. Bree never called me back (not surprising). So when I called back and asked for her, she was no conveniently no longer the manager. Someone else was the manager now. She told me that eric (the real manager) would call me in an hour. Eric never called - again not to my suprise. I am calling back again trying to find him and he conveniently is not in the office anymore. Be warned, you cannot cancel your membership unless you come in person. But the best part of all is if you come in on a weekend to cancel it, you cannot cancel it! It is their policy. In other words for anyone that has a job Monday through Friday you are out of luck. They're basically making it impossible for you to cancel. Lie after lie after lie. First, they lie about the Pickleball courts at this gym, the sales guy that sold me in the membership said he would follow up with me with places with Pickleball courts and he never did. I really didn't expect him to bc as soon as he tricked me into getting a membership, why would he follow up with me again about what I asked him. The personal trainer called me twice back to back during work - but you cant get a call back from anyone. Be warned! read more

My friend invited me to the Pilates class here and made sure I got a seat reserved. She even let the instructor know I was going to be 5/10 mins late. When I arrived, the manager grabbed some socks for me and pretended he was going to let me inside then denied access to enter the class. He blamed it on the instructor being picky if anyone is over 5 mins late. Then said "but I can help you become a member if you're interested". I thought this was very grimey; to pretend and let me in just to deceive me and try to sell me a membership. My gf had already spoken to him, the front desk and received verbal approval from the instructor for me to attend. She even left the class early because she was so upset at the manager's customer service. read more

I had been attending different high end studios for a complete workout, but now I enjoy everything in one location at this LA Fitness club. Jose Gonzales made it so easy to join and worked out the perfect monthly plan for me. And I can go to any location. The facility is well kept, the instructors are great, and the people that attend the classes are welcoming; I have made lots of friends here. You should join! read more

This is a clear case of corporate corporate neglect and greed from Fitness International, LLC. The air conditioning in the group fitness room has been completely non-functional for over two weeks. This is the exact same unacceptable, cheap tactic corporate pulled on members last summer.The local front desk staff are completely stuck in the middle, forced to repeat hollow corporate scripts every week about "repairs coming." The actual problem is corporate headquarters in Irvine stalling on approving the budget to fix the HVAC infrastructure.It is completely shameful for a massive corporation to aggressively draft our full membership dues every single month, yet refuse to provide a safe, climate-controlled environment for group classes. This is a sealed room with zero ventilation--forcing people to do intense workouts in those dangerous conditions is a massive health hazard. Corporate needs to stop pinching pennies, approve the work order, and get a technician out here immediately. read more

Very disappointed with how this location handled my membership. In January, before surgery, I asked the staff to pause my gym membership and cancel my Pilates membership. The manager at the time confirmed everything was taken care of. Months later, I discovered my gym membership had never been paused, so I continued being charged while I couldn't use the gym. The manager Jose admitted the mistake, apologized, and promised to credit or refund my account--but nothing was ever done. After several phone calls and visits, I met with a new manager who dismissed my concerns, saying it was "just my word" because there were no notes in the system. Instead of trying to investigate or contact the previous manager, he questioned my credibility and handled the conversation in front of other members. To make matters worse, I was told the managers Sara and Farid was unavailable because they were "doing banking," only to watch both managers walk in carrying Starbucks drinks after I was waiting for them so long and I was told to come at 10am. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, professionalism, and respect is unacceptable. I expected much better customer service from LA Fitness. read more

I was back in Irvine for a week and had the chance to visit the gym. The gym is great with all machines for lift weight and cardio. Very clean, organized, and a great staff. I want to share an experience so other members understand their rights at this LA Fitness location. While I was working out wearing headphones, a staff member named Assad approached me and stood very close trying to start a conversation. At that moment, I actually assumed he was not a staff member because I believe gym staff should not be standing that close to members during workouts. I initially thought he was a random person. I took off my headphones and briefly responded when he asked how my workout was going. I said, "It's not a good time." Even after that, he continued standing there without giving space, so I eventually gestured for him to leave. As he walked away, he said, "You don't want to talk to people? That's so weird." This comment felt dismissive and uncomfortable in that setting. Later, when I went to the front desk to clarify the situation, I wanted to confirm whether he was actually staff. For public safety reasons, if he is a staff member, I would expect an apology. If he is not, then appropriate steps should be taken to ensure that someone behaving like this is not allowed to approach members in the gym in that way. Assad then came over again. Instead of acknowledging any concern, he stated that I was being "disrespectful." He also emphasized that he has worked at this location for 35 years and said that I "don't understand this country's culture," implying that his actions were justified and that members should accept his expectations. Later, when I went to the front desk seeking clarification, I was informed by staff that members are expected or required to respond when employees initiate promotional conversations. Another employee made this statement, and staff themselves then chose to check their internal policies to verify it. They ultimately confirmed that no such rule exists requiring members to engage in promotional conversations or respond to staff in this context. We come to the gym to work out, not to be judged, pressured, or made to feel uncomfortable for declining conversation. Wearing headphones and choosing not to engage is completely reasonable. For other members: you are not required to talk to staff or participate in promotional conversations, regardless of what you may be told. read more

After going to this club for years, I've decided to use the other ones in Irvine. I LOVE LA FITNESS don't get me wrong, but the sales guy with the curly hair told me my only option to bring in a friend is to change my plan, even though I've brought friends before using the guest pass system. I feel like this isn't the real policy and the guy just wanted to strong arm my friend into buying a membership, but I disagree with the way we were treated. After posting this review I won't be going back anymore. It was a really embarrassing experience for me and my friend. read more

This review is about THEFT! I've been a LA Fitness member for over a decade. I usually go to a different location but I was in the area so I stopped by. It is a fancier LA Fitness location but it comes with a major downside - thief attraction! I locked my gym bag in one of the lockers in the men's room. After I finished my workout in about an hour, all my stuff was GONE! Luckily, after the thief going through my stuff, he left my bag hanging by the sauna room. What really disappointed me was the nonchalant attitude of the staff when I tried to report the incident. At first, they told me I'd need to come back on Monday to file an incident report because their manager went home for the weekend (WTF?). After I stood there and complained for several more minutes, one of the ladies finally started typing on a computer to "file an incident report", which she didn't ask me for any details and admitted it was purely for "documentation" only and wouldn't lead to anything. Moral of the story - do not leave anything of value in the locker room even with a lock and do not expect the staff to do anything or offer any kind of compensation if your stuff was stolen. I will be filing a formal complaint with corporate. read more

Manager, Assad, rudely accused my friend of being my "personal trainer" and "servicing me" after watching him put a weight away for me when I was in the middle of my set. He came over and threatened to kick us out over my buddy reracking a weight... what a joke. Can't imagine there would be good personal training coming from him or any of the others there if this is the service that you get by being a paying client. read more
