BEWARE LADIES!!! OF ERENA HAIR!!! The quality of hair at Erena is garbage! Since I'm allergic to synthetic hair and have experience a reaction from it. I have no doubt that ERENA HAIR IS NOT 100% HUMAN HAIR as advertised. After paying for ounces of kinky hair and having payed a stylist to install it. My scalp became inflamed, so much so that I had to have it removed after two weeks, I then had to see a dermatologist who prescribed three different medications. Not only was my scalp painful, it thinned out my hair and in some spots, I have no hair. This is the same reaction I got years ago when I tried to use synthetic hair. Since then I have only used human hair. I have no other choice now but to buy a wig at this point, which is now more money. Unauthorized they took an additional $100 from my account, promised I would be refunded in 3days and to date I am still waiting. You deserved the best. For courtesy, Quality, variety and the best price; ERENA HAIR CENTER is the place. I had giving up on weaving my hair because I could not fine the right texture. A weave can be worn for at least 6 to 8 weeks if it's done professional. Before 2 wueeks I would take them off because after a few days they look terribly worn out and give a horrible bad odor, and NEVER MATCH with my hair. This braiding hair is awful. My sister and I spent over $1200.00 in purchasing this hair. I purchased the kinky curl and she purchased the wavy one. It tangles and mattes up horribly. Two days after installing I called the company, they sent me a bottle of conditioner specially designed for this hair, but the hair was still Brillo pad hard unless it was soaking wet. The odor this hair carries is awful. No one can walk around with soaking wet hair all day. I removed them a short time later and had to use an unreal amount of force, oil and steam treatments to get this knotted disaster out of my head. My sister had the exact same experience and we lost so much of our natural hair especially in the back. I reached out to the company and still have received no response. The price of the hair has gone up dramatically and the quality of the hair is now nothing better than shit. I have been wearing hair for Erena for two years now! Worth every penny! Great quality

This review is for extension hair only. I purchased their 'afro kinky' and 'natural curl' hair for two strand twist extensions and was very happy with quality and texture for $40 per oz. I went to the salon/shop and saw them actually curling the hair with a narrow cylinder stick (incredible) and know from experience that they take orders first come first serve, and phone orders usually require a 24hr turnaround for in-store pick up. The woman on the phone pissed me off at first but was incredibly sweet and helpful when I went in. She's the one who suggested I mix both textures for an interesting look and she was right. Also she's doing EVERYTHING in that salon from treating extension hair, to scheduling services, taking orders and collecting payment - she doesn't stop. The shop is in the salon and is mid-size a bit on shabby side but not 125th street - trust me. The main problem is they are far out in Bushwick. You must take the 2/5 and THEN a bus or $7 OW cab ride. I'd say it was worth going to Erena's personally to see their colors and textures, my stylist at Khamit Kink's praised the quality. I've purchased the 'afro-kinky' from Lugo's (KK, I'm positive, uses the same texture for their baby curl twists) in Manhattan and while the price is the same and I like the overall texture, Lugo's keeps the 'afro-kinky' in a box, it's handled a lot, looks a bit dirty and shed a lot when I used it (though their other locations may treat it better). The only thing I do not like about the Erena hair is the dye. It runs when the hair gets wet. It has a very strong chemical smell and you have to wash it many times to get the smell out and to make the dye run a little bit less. I order the 1b and the water is purple when I wash it. Someone told me that when the dye runs like that it means that it is not 100% human hair. Other than that, I like the texture and the curl. I use the Water Wave (formerly known as Jheri Curl) for 2-strand twists. read more

I purchased Afro Kinky hair from Erenas that appeared to be Afro Kinky when I purchased it. The hair, however, changed textures after I washed it. I washed it 3 times and it was never Afro or kinky or the way it looks bundled up when I purchased it. It became a synthetic shiny looking wet/wavy texture. My hair is afro kinky and curly. Nothing about this hair is afro or kinky. I could not wear the hair after washing it because it totally does not match the texture of KINKY hair and should not be advertised as such. I threw away $350 dollar on service and purchasing the hair. I called three times and was told that: the owner would get back to me he didn't. The other two times "he stepped out" and another "he will be back in 10 minutes. Its been a month I haven't heard from this person yet. Totally disgusted with this place would not recommend it. read more

The trip wasn't fun but again loved the hair and noticed there was a salon. I promised myself then that would make trip again for an install. Well today a go online, I saw the service I wanted and called to discuss it, remember it's 2 hours away. They put a stylist on the line named Nadine. Not rude but not nice either, never answered my question, what to expect for cost. I quoted their website and she said where are getting that from. She was 60 higher and still couldn't tell me about the head. I told her I was looking for a quote but the average cost. That not nice attitude turned into rude and needless to say I'll never go back. Love the hair!! It's the best I've tried. However, that lady on the phone is very unprofessional and at times seems a like "Ghetto." However, putting that aside, the price of the hair ($22 an oz) and the quality of the hair can't be beat!!!! Hands down my weave is always on point with ERENA'S hair. Ladies, think about it; when I buy store hair two packs cost $80 and starts napping up on my neck in a week. But, @ ERENA'S 7 oz cost $150 and last for the two months I keep my weave in, and I always reuse the hair twice more after the first install. PS. Boy oh boy, where do I start? I was referred to this company as a place to go if in need of quality hair. As I walked in I was greeted with a less than lackluster hello from the at the front desk. Fast forward to the hair and it quality. Shame shame shame on you for selling such junk to member of your community; and you wonder why sometimes it's best to take your money elsewhere. The hair was dry and brittle once I took it home and unraveled it. I even noticed all the different lengths on the weft. The ends, forget it. Those things are dryer than day old toast. However, when I was in the store, the lady kept saying don't undo the curls if you're not gonna buy it and I thought that was odd; who buys hair without thoroughly running their fingers through it? Where do I even begin ? I have been a customer with Erena hair since 2008 and I love love the hair . I have been using Erena hair since high school for braiding and weaving I try the Brazilian wavy,natural curls, water curls ,wet and wave, Mongolian curly hair and I love them. The hair is so beautiful and always receive compliment from people about the hair.....The hair can be use again for many years not just a year depending on how you care for the hair. Unlike other Brazilian hair it doesn't require much attention just a good wash every now and then and deep conditioning . I use inexpensive shampoo and condition like vo5 and suave it work really well on the hair then expensive products. I like the curly hair because I just wet and go and still get a beautiful look. Each hair Erena offer can be straighten and back to curly. Shedding is lite nothing drastic and the hair never lose its volume or bounce.The price of the hair is a little costly but worth every penny because I never throw my hair away. The owner Phillip baker is a darling he know how to treat his customer and keep them coming. He had never disappointed me about the look I am want to achieve. I purchased the Afro Kinky Twist hair from Erena for a kinky twist style. I was trying to find the equivalent of Khamit Kinks Baby Curl hair which takes a long time to order and when I spoke to the representatives from ERENA they assured me that it was the same. Well, I never before had the problems I had with ERENA hair. After several days of the style, my scalp itched uncontrollably. Some itching can be normal but this was different. My scalp was becoming VERY irritated. I also noted significant amounts of black dye on the shoulders/collar of all my shirts and the white jacket I wear for work (in the medical field.) It was embarrassing. I contacted ERENA hair salon and was told to shampoo my hair and that some staining on clothes is normal initially. So I shampooed my hair multiple times. This resolved the scalp irritation completely. I've had braids and extensions before and never had a scalp problem. The excessive dye seeping onto my scalp was the problem. Unfortunately, the problem with staining my clothes improved but did not stop and it became impossible for me to wear any light colored clothing. I also stained pillows/sheets and it took many, many washings to get the dye out. In addition, all that shampooing ruined the hair style and my twists were fuzzy and in desperate need of a redo. I called ERENA again, explained that I had followed their directions and informed them of my poor results.I was told they would need to see the hair in person. To resolve the issue, on a trip home to NY state, I drove over an hour into Brooklyn to go to the store. They offered to wash the hair for me so I could redo the hairstyle but it meant I had to take the Afro Kinky Twist hair out first so that they could adequately evaluate and treat the hair. I went home, took out the hair (a long process) and then drove back into Brooklyn the next day (a longer trip this time since it was rush hour). They washed and dried the hair and returned it to me in a state ready for replacement. However, I never received an apology for my inconvenience and I did not feel that they made an honest attempt to address the time and money I wasted. I bought 8 ounces of hair at their recommendation since I didn't know how much I needed. I used less than 5 ounces and my hair stylist told me 8 ounces was excessive. They could have reimbursed part of my original cost or they could have given me several new ounces to use next time. They gave me one ounce (appeared to be less) and that was it. I got my hair redone at Khamit Kinks and speaking to a member of their staff, I learned this is not the first time this has happened. Its not a common problem but it happens frequently enough for them to be aware of it and ERENA has yet to fix the quality control problem. If you choose to use ERENA, be careful and make sure they shampoo the hair before you use it and perhaps you should too. Don't count on reasonable customer service either. read more

I have been coming to E.R.E.N.A for the past three years after being a steady customer with Lugo both in Miami and NY. I took a leap of faith and a 60 mile drive from upstate NY and entrusted Phillip with providing me with the length, color and texture that I could no longer consistently find..from the moment I walked through the doors I knew that this would be the beginning of a long relationship.. I did not realize that I could also get my extensions put in...this is where Stylist Lynette comes in...she assured me that I would be more than SATISFIED with her work... let's put it this way...I didn't mention.. I actually FLY in from Miami anytime I am ready to be styled...I have never had a sew in stay in for as many months!!
