BUT I got out of the shower and just kind of scrunched my layers as they dried- SUPER CUTE. Natural volume and curl. I've had the same hairstyle since COVID started--long and no layering because I just trim it over a trash can. However, I wanted something different. My face is practically a circle, so I wanted a haircut that could make me *not* look like 布袋 (Bùdài, AKA Fat Buddha). My friends suggested a wolf cut, and since I hate thinking, I was like, "Sure." As with most of my choices, I went to Eric on a whim, but I'm glad I did. I have a tendency to feel awkward for no reason, but Eric was very approachable and friendly. He was also upfront about tempering my expectations, which I greatly appreciate. After looking at my reference photos, Eric instantly let me know my hair wasn't going to look like the pictures because of x, y, z reasons. I am kind of clueless about this kind of stuff, so I appreciated his honesty. He asked me a lot of follow up questions and checked in regularly during the cut. My hair is extremely thick. It's not uncommon for people to mutter "so much hair" while they're working on it. Multiple hairstylists have told me, "This is a day's worth of hair" once they're done. My hair also doesn't "lay" the way most people would expect an East Asian person's hair to lay. So the fact that I still love my hair after washing all the salon product off says a lot. I've done a lot of damage to my hair, coloring at different salons trying to fix things and causing more harm than good. I also have a fear of losing length after spending so much time growing it out, independent of whether the length and style actually works for me. I went to Eric in November and he found the perfect mix to color correct my multi-leveled brassy brown/red hair. On our second visit, he was able to balayage my hair (something I didn't think was an option with all the dyeing damage I've done to it). In addition, he removed the "frumpiness" with a cut that allowed for movement and the perfect length for natural beach waves. I don't know if it's natural talent, or the extensive classes he takes, or a mix of both, but he is- by far- the best stylist I've ever had. read more

I had a very negative experience with Eric. Negative in regards to my haircut and also extremely negative in regards to Erics attitude. I have never felt the need to leave a review for anything but this experience was so weird and stressful that I have to share it. I went to Eric to get a very simple trim and to dye the underneath part of my hair auburn. They were about 20-30 minutes late. When I came into the room, hair was all over the floor. They apologized for the mess but did not sweep the entire time I was there. Which I found unsanitary. They were in a strange/annoyed mood and told me multiple times that, "They couldn't believe what had happened earlier." To which I responded with "What happened?" They brushed me off a few times. Once they got the dye in my hair, however, they told me they were upset because they had ruined the haircut of the person prior to me by chopping a part of her bangs off. They expressed to me how awful the mistake was. At this point, I was extremely nervous about my haircut and I was upset that they did not tell me this sooner because I now had dye in my hair and could not leave. Throughout the appointment, Eric talked about their mistake quite a few times. They also expressed worry about the color they chose to dye my hair and if it was going to look good. They also told me a lot about how they hate working and how they hate coming to the salon. Which did not help my nervousness. They complained about being extremely tired. They were in a very bad mood. This continued throughout the appointment. They also decided to show me a graphic video (it was blurred) of a child in Gaza getting her leg amputated and the only warning I got was them saying "trigger warning" before immediately showing me the video and explaining what was happening in it. Before they did this I told them I do not watch videos like that because it makes me depressed. They showed me the video anyway. I do not find this behavior very professional. Once they washed my hair, they cut my bangs. I asked for a tiny trim for my curtain bangs so that I could still tuck them behind my ear. I left with uneven bangs with one side being able to tuck behind my ear and the other side sitting in front of my eyes. The strands vary in length throughout and are extremely annoying to deal with. He cut my bangs so quickly and with no care at all. He didn't even look to see if they were the same length. The auburn color looks great and I'm happy with how that part turned out. However, they did get dye on my scalp, forehead, and ears. They charged me 275 dollars. Which I feel is overpriced. Especially considering all the comments they made and all the stress it gave me. My hair is a lot shorter than I wanted and my bangs are now uneven and choppy. It is noticeable and uncomfortable. I honestly should have left when I saw the hair all over the floor so thats my mistake. I had nowhere to put my backpack without risking another persons hair getting all over it. I'm not a germaphobe but I really don't think that's sanitary. They should have at least swept when they were waiting for the dye to settle instead of looking at tiktoks and instagram. I pretended to be fine with everything at the end because I did not want to argue or stay there any longer than necessary. I have massive social anxiety and I felt as though I could not express my dissatisfaction without hearing complaints. I will never be going back to Eric. I have made an appointment somewhere else to get my bangs cut evenly. They will have to be shorter which sucks but its better than choppy and uneven. read more
