It's rare that your kid cries when LEAVING the dentist. Mine did. My daughter did not want to leave because she was having such a great time:) I'll start from the beginning. The receptionist, Marta, is very sweet, professional, efficient, and knows how to do her job very well. I was a first-time patient and had to cancel 3 appts in the month of December (due to kids being sick/family stuff). I thought she and the Doctors would blacklist me lol, but she was nothing but understanding and helped get me rescheduled. I picked this office from Yelp alone. I drove from Jamul and it was worth it:) So last week, I took both of my kids (1.5 years old and 3.5 years old) to see Dr. Eric Dixon. I was dreading it for weeks, but It was shockingly not only painless, but actually delightful. We walked into a beautiful office- seriously stunning! I am not easily impressed, but I was very impressed by it! Beautiful warm/rich colors, great layout, and super duper clean (which is a big deal for me). Cool area right when you walk into the reception area... Plasmas, ipads, books, baby/toddler toys, HUGE gorgeous and healthy fish tank... they had it all...which totally entertained the kids while I filled out paperwork. Then in the main area...coolest light fixture/lamps that you would see in a hip town in the Northeast. Nice cushy (clean) beds for the kids with TVs on the ceiling over every bed! and super cute and comfy benches for the parents to sit if they want to. I love/know interior design and they did not miss any details nor did they spare any expense! Dr. Dixon was fantastic! And so was the Dental Hygienist- she was awesome. Dr. Dixon looked at my son's teeth/mouth while the DH totally entertained my 3.5 year old daughter and then she cleaned and polished her teeth. I actually thought they were just talking/playing the whole time as I was holding my son for the Doctor. Later I found out that she had sat through a cleaning, polish, etc. Painless. Awesome! Dr. Dixon was very informative and gave me lots of useful pointers/tips, especially for my son. He even gave me great advice on how to ditch the pacci (and it worked!). I encourage all parents to start taking their kids as soon as they turn one. After looking at my son, he then went over to my daughter who was having a blast and I listened to him while he engaged her in his calm voice and asked her questions about her favorite movie, favorite princess, etc. and then they were having a full on conversation as he looked at all of her teeth to check for problems/cavities. Lucky me~ 2 kids=ZERO cavities:). I'm a proud mama!! The kids got some goodie bags, toothbrushes, our favorite Toms toothpaste, and other fun stuff. My daughter was having so much fun with the ipad and cried when it was time to leave. I promised her that we would come back. I loved everything about the Doctor, staff, and office. I loved that it wasn't busy or overwhelming (it seems that they only see one patient at a time and don't overbook which means you don't wait). It was a very calm and peaceful experience. We left with positive feedback, great information, and had a fantastic experience overall! I am picky and it took me 2 months to decide on a new dentist (we are from LA), and I'm so happy I decided on Dr. Dixons- amazing Pediatric Dentists:) read more

From the moment I called to make my kidlets first appointment I knew this was going to be good fit. The receptionist was so friendly and accommodating! All apprehensions I had about my kids' first dentist visit was washed away the minute we stepped in the office door. Its so clean, modern and kid friendly! My kids loved playing while I filled out the usual paperwork. The hygienist was wonderfully warm and friendly. She made every effort to make the kids feel welcome and even called them by their names right off the bat. My kids had never been to the dentist and my oldest was nervous about getting any shots and she made sure to calm any fears he had. They get to choose a movie to watch while getting their teeth cleaned. Which the hygienist made look so easy! Both the hygienist & Dr. Eric were so helpful in giving me tips to take optimal care of my kidlets' chompers. I know I mentioned the office was clean, modern and kid friendly but seriously this office is fantastic. It is in no way the kind of dental office you had as a kid, or at least any I have had! Dr. Eric and Dr. Stephanie really took great care to make the decor kid friendly yet not tacky. The main area is decorated like a park complete with a light post and Karlik benches for the parents to sit and watch. The whole experience from the littlest to the most important were top notch. My kids will continue to be patients here for as long as we are living in San Diego! read more

If you want to take your children to a pediatric dental office to which your kids will be enthusiastic about returning AND you will feel confident that the highest level of care is being given, Kensington Pediatric Dentistry is IT! The Dixons are parents and seem to relate easily to issues you may encounter with your children's dental care. My 8, 6.5 and 3.5 year olds have been Dr. Eric's patients at the Sorrento location (and also loved it) for some time. It was a bit of a trek for us, though, so we were delighted to switch to the new Kensington practice. Having previously taken my older children to two other well known pediatric practices and finding them very disappointing, it has been a pleasure taking them to Dr. Eric. The atmosphere is comfortable, trustworthy, relaxing and professional. It seems with each visit I learn more about my children's dental issues, developments and care -- Dr. Eric takes his time to educate the parent. I couldn't be more impressed! My 6.5 year old informed me that I should add that there are i-pads for kids to use in the waiting room, which is a big hit with kids. The staff is equally great with my children and are a big part of creating the warm, comfortable atmosphere at this practice. read more

I must admit that my review of this office is biased. I am an oral surgeon and know most of the dentists in town. I have known the Dixon's for many years and was very comfortable choosing their new office for my daughter lily's first dental visit. The Dixon's are honest doctors who work hard and care for their patients. Their reputation in the dental community is excellent with an emphasis on strong patient service. Eric and Stephanie are very easy to talk to and relate well with people and kids. They are very knowledgable in their field and have excellent training. As a dentist myself, and a slightly overprotective father I am fortunate to be able to make very informed decisions when choosing a doctor to care for my first child. Of course the office is well designed, inviting with excellent staff who made lily very comfortable for her first visit. I am thrilled with the new location since it is much more convienient than the Sorrento Valley location for me. Although with my inside information and trust for Eric and Stephanie I would have still driven up to see them. They have worked very hard to provide a wonderful dental experience. We are very lucky to have them in our community taking care of our children. read more

My wife works in Sorrento Valley and we had heard about this great kids' dental office near there and decided to take our son. They had video games and cool, kid-friendly decor which definitely helped ease our son into those first few visits. The staff was friendly and very helpful in explaining how to best care for his teeth without beating us over the head or making us feel like CPS might come if we didn't floss every day! We heard that Dr. Eric Dixon was opening a second location in Kensington and were very excited as we live close by and my office is just a block away - convenient! We made our first visit to the Kensington office shortly after they opened and had another great experience. There are video screens in the ceilings so that your child can watch their favorite video while getting their teeth cleaned. Next to the exam tables are nice wood benches where parents can sit comfortably and watch the process. Dr. Dixon is great with kids of all ages and I would highly recommend his services. We are very appreciative that Dr. Eric Dixon and his spouse Dr. Stephanie Dixon decided to invest locally and create a wonderful neighborhood business in Kensington that serves the Metro communities - thank you!! read more

Both my kids have been patients of Dr. Stephanie for years at the Sorrento Valley location, and we have always been very happy with the overall experience. Our family lives and works in the metro San Diego area and were thrilled when we learned that a Kensington location was in the works. The kids were looking forward to being able to walk to the dentist, and we watched the progress as the office came to life with great neighborhood charm, kid-friendly design and charming details throughout. We finally had the much anticipated appointments this week. We knew we could always count on a great experience with Dr. Dixon, but were really excited to see the love and care has gone into creating a wonderful new office location. The new staff is also lovely. The receptionist was friendly and super helpful, and the dentist's assistant did a great job of keeping the kids engaged and getting her job done. Because of Dr. Dixon, my children are happy to visit the dentist office and want to take care of their teeth...she has a warm and caring personality that the kids really respond well to, and it's clear that she is a true profesional and extremely capable. We're a military family and I found KPD through the Tri Care website. I was a little hesitant only because I remember how unpersonable the previous dental clinic I took my children to was. Well, this place, KPD, is Awesome! Marta the receptionist was super sweet. The office has a warm, comfortable feeling through out. Games for kids, and not just a little box of blocks or anything, my son got to play on the IPADs they have installed. The exam room is definitely a childs place. TV screens on the ceilings, head phones for the kids to listen.. Totally Awesome! Dr. Stephanie was Amazing! She seemed so down to earth and friendly. She went through different channels on the TV until my son saw something he wanted to watch. She was very informative about everything. I can't recall her assistants name, but she was super sweet too. It was a comfortable feeling and the room never had that awkward silence that sometimes happens. Parents can sit in the exam room with their children too. I've already scheduled another appt for my son and one for my daughter. I'm excited for my little girl to go to the dentist!! I brought my 13 year old to Dr. Dixon yesterday, because we saw it going in during construction and we would much rather support a local business than drive . At first, with my child being older, I was unsure about how he would feel about changing dentists, but his excitment upon leaving his appointment nailed it for me- we had found our new dentist! It takes a lot for a teen to say ANYTHING positive about any kind of doctor, but he was chatty about the cleaning and the new place all night. It is VERY clean and kid friendly, with ipads loaded with video gamesi in the waitting room, and while the kids are being treated, each chair has its own tv monitor with head phones, so kids can be distracted with the movie of their choice. Not only was it a good experience for my son, Dr. Dixon came out and got to know me and was genuinely interested in our family. She gave me some good tips about how to get my son to floss and brush more, and we had an interesting chat about braces and the pros/cons. I appreciated their cheerful manner and excitement for what they do. read more

In addition to being a welcome addition to our Kensington community, this is by far the coolest dentist office I've ever seen. The exam room is one large room that is made to look like a park, which is very soothing and unintimidating. Then there are the ipad games in the waiting room, the tv monitors in the ceiling of the exam room with headphones and movie of your choice, and the treasure chest where kids pick a toy before going home. But most importantly, Dr. Eric made our 3-year old son feel very comfortable. My son wouldn't even open his mouth for the last dentist we went too and he screamed and cried. But he really liked Dr. Eric and the staff, and Dr. Eric had a few simple tricks up his sleeve to make the exam easy and fun. He even took his time after it was over to chat with us and help our son learn how to play one of the ipad games. We chose this dentist over the ones on our insurance plan and we're so glad we did. For my two little girls (ages 1.5 and 3.5), going to the dentist was a huge treat. KPD was like a visit to the Pumpkin Patch. The staff (from front desk to dental assistant to the doctor) was SUPER friendly and welcoming. They had treats and distractions at the ready and were so genuinely interested in engaging with my children. Dr Stephanie Dixon knew (from our previous conversation/introductory visit) that I wasn't crazy about my kids having too much screen time so at our actual doctor's visit, she made sure there were only floating flowers. In the end, they didn't care since they were so fascinated by the doctor, her sweet and attentive assistant and all of the other equipment. On top of that, Dr Dixon offered so much helpful information about the proper dental hygiene for my kids and was ready to answer even more questions. My kids can't wait to go back! read more

I took both my boys (1yr and 3yr) in to see Dr. Stephanie for their first visit, the staff was amazing! The boys were entertained by the huge fish tank, the iPads, the TV screens in the ceiling during the cleaning. I had such a horrid first visit when I was a kid that I was in awe here, and kind of jealous of course. My older son went first and was a little nervous but then seemed very calm with the steps Dr. Stephanie took to make sure he was OK before going further and the hygienist did the same before doing the cleaning. They took turns playing with the little one so I could sit next to the older guy, then switched of course when it was the little one's turn. I could not have expected anything this great and have been telling anyone who will listen about our experience and to take their kids here. read more

I was so happy to find a pediatric dentist in my area. I paid the office a visit prior to making an appointment and the staff called later that day to inform me of my insurance coverage. Dr. Eric and his staff are very professional. They made my two children feel very comfortable and at ease. They were able to lie down and watch a movie while being seen and they loved the treasure chest at the end of their visit. The facility is exceptionally kid friendly. They were even able to take my son that morning without an appointment. I have already recommended them to a friend. I must say my children are off to a good start when it comes to visiting the dentist. They walked home with smiles on their faces and had absolutely nothing bad to say when asked about their visit. My 4 year old boy just had a cavity filled at Kensington Pediatric Dentistry and it was actually a an exceptionally pleasant experience beginning to end. The entire staff was so professional, courteous, patient and friendly. Dr. Stephanie Dixon and the hygienist knew exactly how to interact with my son and made him feel very at ease. We waited maybe 10 minutes, although I don't think my son would have minded waiting longer because there was plenty to keep him occupied in the waiting room. He loved playing on the ipad. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and definitely kid friendly. Dr. Dixon even called later in the day to see how my son was doing! I started my two year old at the Sorrento Valley office and was very happy when they opened an office in Kensington. I brought both my kids, 2 1/2 and 1yr old to the new office and they loved the service. Crazy as this sounds I'm sure they would be happy to visit the dentist anytime! Dr. Eric Dixon was fantastic with both kids as well as the hygienist. A bonus for those families considering this facility, the office is right near starbucks, a library and PARK! Everything was wonderful, even from the first time I called in to schedule the appointment. That is always of reflection of how if the service from the start is great the actual appointment will be just the same if not better, well it was better, My son who was 1 when we took him in, was greeted like he was the only one that mattered that time. Dr. Dixon was very gentle and made a point to answer all of your questions. We loved Kensington Pediatric Dentistry so much, that we have scheduled our daughter to be a patient now with Dr. Dixon and her staff. We just had our first visit with Dr. Eric Dixon at the new Kensington location and were very favorably impressed. My three year old son, who isn't very fond of his pediatrician was smiling and opening wide by the end of his visit. The beautiful facility was a bonus, he liked the movies above the treatment chairs especially, but the staff was the best. They were great at getting him comfortable and I appreciated Dr. Dixon's warm but professional manner. We had our first visit today with Dr. Stephanie. It was our daughter's very first visit to the dentist and we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! She took great care of our daughter and is clearly wonderful with kids (as is all of the staff). My children have been patients of Dr. Stephanie's since my 10-year-old was 3. She has always been wonderful, professional, and an excellent dentist. My daughter had a number of cavities filled on her baby teeth and still loves to go to the dentist years later because she has always had a great experience. My daughters, ages 6, 4 and 1 all had their exams done here on the same day and we loved it! KPD was very patient with the kids and made every step important and fun for them! They were able to choose a movie to watch while having their exam done and the TVs were in the ceiling, pretty cool!! Treasure box at the end too! I wasnt sure how my 18 month old was going to do but it went great, she must have felt comfortable in the exam room! Overall great place and wonderful, patient staff! Not to mention beautiful office!
