She immediately discouraged me, asking me why I left the other dentist and if I realized that medical hardly pays anything related to crowns. Wow! Just finished getting a root canal done at Dr. Nguyen's office and they did a fantastic job! I'm so happy with the results and that I was able to get my tooth taken care of in such a reasonable amount of time even with COVID going on. For people concerned about safety, thier office takes your temperature, all patients wear a mask to appointment, all staff wear PPE, sanitize the seats and everything and really make you feel safe. Dr. Nguyen is very good at his craft and everyone there is very personable and kind. I have had a lot of dental work done and know a good dentist when I see one. Ok so real talk! The staff is super friendly and the Dentist let me tell you first off we had a real conversation and not just about teeth. He came up with no gain no pain instead of no pain no gain and it made our morning laugh!! But ok seriously I went for my deep cleaning like three months ago and amazing but today I had three cavities to fill and I'm soooooo used to having my whole mouth numbed to the point your face feels like a hippo ! After a lifetime of horrible dentistry experience, my teeth have found a home at Premier Dental. I found them through yelp and decided to book an appointment. I can tell that it is the doctors passion to make patients love their smile and he loves what he does. I came in for a cleaning, fill, and a new crown as mine has been broken for years. I was checked in and entered into the back in a timely manner, the staff is super nice and welcoming, and most of all the doctor does an AMAZING JOB!! Let me first say that although Dr. Nguyen was out of my insurance network and I am in no position to take on dental bills, I took my daughter and myself to him anyways purely based on Google and Yelp reviews. I believe the office operates a few days out of the week and select Saturdays. I had an soul shaking type of toothache that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and he was able to see me the same day. I also was on a two hour timer since I had month old baby at the time. I needed a root canal and he knocked out a couple other filings in just enough time to get home and feed my baby (I drove up from Otay Mesa). I especially like Dr. Nguyen for a few reasons. I didn't feel he was money hungry. He tried to save me from getting a root canal and then because I had double insurance, he let me know that he would bill in a way that would save me. Another thing that stood out was feeling no pain when he numbed my gums. I hate needles and I seriously didn't feel a thing! The last thing I really liked was that he offered me a solution to a problem I didn't even speak to him about. I have this yellow front tooth and it's so embarrassing. To have straight teeth, never had braces, and one yellow tooth because of a past procedure done by Navy dental... it sucks. I've always wanted to get it fixed, but every dentist before Dr. Nguyen only suggest veneers. Of course veneers cost more and then dentists will only do them in pairs, meaning two teeth versus just the one that I need fixed. Staff - Super sweet and very professional. They answered all of my questions and made sure we were comfortable. Facility - This isn't a fancy dentist office and the parking lot is tight, but it's clean and that's all that matters. Kid Friendly - My 5 year old daughter went in and talked up a storm. I almost felt bad for the dental assistant, but she is a mom herself and totally entertained my munchkin. My daughter had a loose tooth pulled and of course she cried, but Dr. Nguyen numbed her effortlessly and all she really felt was pressure. My baby girl cries if she sees a fly so it's expected. Anyways, he was quick and had her smiling again in no time by giving her a little treasure chest to place her tooth in for the tooth fairy. I wasn't really into having perfect teeth when I was in school busy studying and trying to get my doctorate degree. But once I achieved my goal, I realized almost everyone around me wore braces since young. My teeth were pretty straight already, but my two front teeth were starting to grow inward shaped V. It didn't bother me before but as I grew older it got worse and started to bother me. When it comes to cosmetic procedures, it's important who will u give ur full trust. After debating months and months, I decided to go with Jon. He gave me a good rate and word of mouths were excellent. And I'm so glad I choose Jon! Also, I was worried that if I start wearing braces, I be eating soups everyday. But nope! I ate steaks and hard candies just fine lol- I broke few brackets but Jon always replaced it ^^ As a health care professional, it's sad that many are greed for money and always offer more unnecessary services and high charges from their patients, but Jon does not do that- he may not offer Apple TV with softest leather chair with free drinks at the waiting area, but those fancy things don't matter when your dentist care about health of your mouth first. I was introduced to Dr. Nguyen years ago by my parents and was immediately impressed by how friendly and genuine he is. Dr. Nguyen is very patient, gentle and about as in unintimidating as you can get for a dentist. He has an amazing ability for recall, like asking how a tournament went a year after our last visit. Let's face it, dental work is a necessary evil. If there was one thing both my husband's could agree on is that Dr. Nguyen is a great dentist! He cares about your oral health and is also very affordable and is understanding when it comes to your treatment plan to accommodate your insurance or budget. In fact, when the recession hit and we were between jobs with no coverage, we were still able to get our exams and cleaning without breaking the bank. He takes PPO and Medi-cal. Initially our children were going to a fancy pediatric dentist filled with video games and toys. What I learned is that we were purely numbers in her office and the more she packed in, the longer we waited to be seen. You won't find fancy TVs and cartoons on the walls at Premier Dental because you won't be waiting an hour to be seen. He is great building a rapport with children and helping them through their fears - adults too. Went to see Jonathan for a dental exam and he was great. No wait time. He was very easy to talk to and even got a few fillings knocked out in the same day. The following week we finished the other fillings. Everything done in less than a week. Even sent my mom in for crowns/route canal. He made her feel super comfortable and pain free. I am so relieved to have found Premier Dental and very happy with my experience this morning. I started experiencing a toothache after getting a filling elsewhere, was in a lot of pain and did not want to go back to my previous dentist. Dr. Nguyen went over my x-rays with me (which I found comforting as my previous dentist never did that) and also very kindly went over my options with zero pressure. I need a root canal but instead of dread, I am looking forward to having Dr. Nguyen perform the procedure. He and his entire staff are incredibly friendly and made me feel like I've found a dental office I would like to stick with. Awful place, I had to wait 40 minutes to be seen, I kept gagging/chocking on water the was flowing like a river down my throat the whole time. The dentist kept saying that we need to be partners, what a fucking joke, rude would be what I would say about this guy. He kept leaving while cleaning my teeth and visiting with other people in the office. Unprofessional is how I would describe my experience with him. I'm not real sure if he even cleaned all my teeth, It didn't feel like it. His small talk consisted of football smalltalk and chastizing me, about my teeth. I have been to quite a few dentists in my life and most were relatively pleasant experiences, but not here. I ran out of this nightmare as fast as I could. We've been coming here for almost 7 years. My husband desperately needed to see a dentist and put it off until he was in extreme pain. My husband ended up falling asleep during a root canal. Staff was honest about what was up, expectations, costs, and referrals as needed (yeah, hubby's teeth were that bad!). Obviously, we've been going to Dr. Nguyen for about 7 years. I've had some work done, mostly just the annuals (thanks genetics!). He's up to date on random issues that have plagued me and my family - pregnancy and menstrual gingivitis, the red-head gene (MC1R), and premature children and their teeth. My two kids have been coming for check-ups since they each got their first teeth. Dr. Nguyen is who I refer my mom friends to for second opinions when they get outrageous care plans for kids, because he's honest and doesn't recommend unnecessary work. He'll tell you straight up what is needed and timelines. After reading this back to my loving husband, he corrected my first paragraph. My husband's fallen asleep during multiple root canals. Second visit in and I'm sold! Went in today for two fillings and a cleaning. Not only is Dr. Nguyen super gentle but he works extremely fast. I was probably done in about 30-45 minutes tops which is A LOT to say when visiting the dentist. Parking can be a bit hit-or-miss but luckily the street is unmetered. Went into the office today to see the Dr. Nguyen. First time in my life was asked to give a credit card before the treatment. Its an 'industry' the do what they can to sell you on the spot, pay for the work and you hope that its good? I don't know this practice so I left. I own my own business and don't carry dental insurance and offers 'cash' (Credit Card) when asked for treatment. I received the consultation and then was handed the 400 dollar quote. I agreed with the quote and was then was asked to go to the front and pay. I only know that Yelper's recommend this dentist, my experience was one of distrust of the patients, so then in like kind I obviously distrust the doctor. I normaly pay for my oil changes when they are finished with the car. I normaly pay for repairs to my business after they are done. I now pay for dental work before its finished? Really? This doctor distrusted me and his patient without insurance and for that I left the office. Our credit score is over 800 and I drive a car that is paid for, (2018) sad to have been treated like a bank robber. Stay away from this place they do not respect the patient. I think the primary mission here is to make money and get paid for what they do upfront and not 'care' about the patient. read more

I also like that they're pretty genuine and Dr. Nguyen is honest and straightforward about what needs to be done, as well as disclosing the prices for the services. The only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because after I had my fillings done, I wasn't given any follow up care or any information on what to do or not do after the procedure. Maybe he was busy with another patient. I felt clueless. I guess I could have asked. I didn't think about it at that time. I was still pretty numb.
