I regret choosing this orthodontist. What a nightmare! Dr. Haney recommended Invisalign to close a small gap between my teeth in preparation for a bridge. I was told the treatment would take about two years and cost approximately $8,500. I followed the instructions carefully from 2021 to 2023. I wore my aligners day and night, attended all required appointments, and paid the full amount through the office's progress billing system. Unfortunately, the treatment was not completed successfully. When I moved from California to Oregon in late 2023, a new orthodontist evaluated my treatment progress and determined that the Invisalign treatment had not actually finished correcting the spacing between my teeth. In order to complete the work, I had to undergo additional orthodontic treatment and pay approximately $2647 out of pocket to the new orthodontist to finish what the original treatment was intended to accomplish. When I contacted Dr. Haney about this, he initially declined ANY responsibility. After further communication and with the help of Invisalign Corp. he later stated he would send $847 toward the additional cost and asked for my mailing address. I provided it, but the payment was never sent as he failed to uphold his promise to me. At this point, the additional orthodontic treatment I had to undergo represents duplicative costs for work that should have been completed under the original treatment plan: $2,647. After multiple attempts to resolve the matter privately, I received no further response. Because the issue remains unresolved, I have filed a formal complaint with the California Dental Board. I would still prefer to resolve this matter professionally. If reimbursement for the additional treatment costs is provided, I will update this review to reflect that the issue was addressed. As someone who had braces (headgear, neckgear, spacers, colored rubber bands, the whole nine yards) in the 90s and early 2000s, I can tell you that I have been doing everything and anything for the last eighteen years to keep my teeth as straight as they were when I got my braces off in high school. I have been that adult that has worn their retainer religiously. Well after eighteen years my retainer wasn't looking so happy anymore. I researched different orthodontists for a permanent retainer but the prices they were charging were ridiculous. My coworker raved about Dr. Haney and then all of a sudden it seemed like half my town has worked with Dr. Haney. I called and made an appointment. Scheduling was quick and easy. I will admit that I was worried about having PTSD flashbacks when I walked into the office from the years of braces I had previously, but the whole environment was warm and welcoming. It is an interesting business model of getting everyone in as quick as possible. My ADHD was going haywire because there was so much going on in the examining area and the noise was a little much. I get in and seated, and I told Jordan exactly what I wanted with my permanent retainer. She immediately gets to work- measuring, taking impressions, and starts the process of putting in the permanent retainer. I was shocked! I literally thought it would take multiple appointments! I was out in less than an hour and I went back the next day to pick up the top retainer which is an Invisalign retainer (the world of retainers has come a long way), and to make sure it fit perfectly. Jordan was super nice, answered all my questions, and really made me feel comfortable as a patient. If I ever need future orthodonture work I will return to Dr. Haney. I will also be recommending Dr. Haney to anyone and everyone! read more

Choosing Dr. Haney as my orthodontist was a huge mistake that I very much regret. Stay away from this orthodontist!! I left Dr. Haney's care at the end of February 2017. I was supposed to have braces for about two years, but I ended treatment after eight months. I was in constant pain, my bite was getting worse, and Dr. Haney's only solution to the pain and bite was to extract two of my lower teeth. Extracting teeth was never discussed in the treatment plan, and, was strongly recommended against by my dentist and an orafacial myologist. Since I did not want to lose teeth in my lower jaw I had no other choice but stop treatment. Dr. Haney left me with damage to my enamel (from a crude application of glue to "protect" my enamel, followed by an equally crude removal of the glue by Dr. Haney). He also left me with a bite that was worse than pre-treatment; this resulting mis-alignment created near-constant pain in my lower teeth and jaw, and actually changed the appearance of my face, and how much I could bite down and close my mouth. During treatment, Dr. Haney would not give me details about my treatment plan. He brushed off my concerns about pain and my worsening bite for months, until finally I broke down in his office and refused to leave until he addressed the problems. The day I ended treatment he would not answer any of my questions about my treatment, only responding with "I don't know," and "I followed the standards of my profession". When I tried to get all of my records, his office would dodge my calls and ignore my emails. They would deny documents existed, tell me they could not access them, or would send me partial elements. I had to threaten to report him for HIPAA violations more than once to retrieve my records (which still had missing elements). During this whole process Dr. Haney refused to speak with me or answer questions. Currently I have braces again with a new orthodontist, and my experience has been extremely different. I have no pain, my teeth are aligning without problems or any need for extraction. My bite has greatly improved, the results are so much better. AVOID Dr. Haney, he is not competent or trustworthy. Getting braces with him was traumatizing, damaging, and an incredible waste of time and money, one of the worst experiences of my life. read more

I would NEVER recommend this orthodontist, in fact I would steer very clear from him. Two of my front teeth were broken during my initial invisalign treatment. Dr. Haney did not acknowledge that they broke, but I could feel something was very wrong. When I asked him about it, he acted defensively and tried to tell me the teeth "must have already been broken or had fillings in them" and I didn't know or had forgotten. As someone who is diligent about oral hygiene and dental care, I was offended that he would accuse me of not knowing the state of my teeth, plus he had copies of all my dental records, which never indicated fillings or broken front teeth. Treatment after this mistake was stressful and uncomfortable. Having sunk $5,000 into this, I felt I was compelled to finish. The final product is not ideal, now having a veneer on the tooth he broke which both stains and cannot be whitened. This experience was traumatizing, stressful, and not worth the money I spent. I regret the entire experience. read more

I would not recommend this practice at all. At the beginning Erik would treat you nicely, and he would be so charming that you fall for his business. However, as soon as you pay your money they will treat you like you are nothing. They won't respect your time or your mouth. He promised wonderful changes for my teeth and The results were poor. When I had appointments, I will usually have to wait a really long time to be seen for a 5 minute consulte. The staff were more professional than Erik because they will try to cover for him, but he is just too arrogant and disrespectful. I feel like I lost every single penny I paid for a treatment that did not work. I get it as many business they would care only for the money, but you do not have to be so obvious. read more

This is my 2nd review of Dr. Haney Orthodontics because it is my 2nd round with Invisalign, which truly has straightened my crooked teeth- teeth that became worse over time. Crooked teeth, overbite and the like will affect your overall look and bite. You will start to close your mouth when smiling. Calling all those who need braces or Invisalign... and older people who had negative ortho experiences as kids. It was my idea to have another go-around with Invisalign because my teeth tried to shift a bit after my first time. No problem. His office worked with me and I decided to go for it because Dr. Haney and staff make it effortless. I really don't know how they deal with me and my dental anxiety but they do and are so courteous, empathetic, professional and nice at the same time! Folks, just deal and get your teeth fixed. Follow their directions. By the way, I recently had some tooth trauma at the back of my mouth/ jaw and after getting x-rays and two general dentists later, Dr. Haney fixed it in minutes. My bottom permanent retainer popped out after being in for 6 years. My orthodontist is in Texas so I looked for an ortho in my area. I found Dr Haney on yelp, called and was able to get an appointment that afternoon. The office is nice, clean and has a very friendly staff. Dr Haney is great guy. This is the place to go for orthodontics in Marin. Dr. Haney and his staff have been wonderful and we can't say enough about how easy they have made the process of getting expanders (braces are in the near future) for our 8 year old child. They have booked emergency appointments easily, and they are great about working with scheduling and school. The staff and dr. are friendly, caring, fun, professional and efficient. We are always seen within minutes of arriving. The only downside is that sometimes it can be tricky finding parking. read more

They're really good about using the latest technology for appointment reminders and super helpful with emergency visits. The office environment is great. No one *loves* going to the orthodontist, so Dr. haney and his staff have an uphill battle. But they handle it like pros. Not only are they professional, knowledgeable, skillful, efficient and talented, they are friendly, funny, calming, kind and empathetic. As an adult returning to orthodontia after 34 years (wear your retainers, kids!) I think most of the time I am more nervous than the kids. But Dr. Haney and his amazing staff are so kind and caring, from the front desk on, that they help dispel my anxiety and keep me as calm as I could be. They are really keyed into the special needs of their clients and bend over backwards to meet them--including sensory issues. It makes me (almost) happy to go to my appointments. read more

Since I didn't take wearing my retainers seriously after the first round of my orthodontist work in high school, grow of my wisdom teeth in college, pushed everything to extreme in different direction and ruined my straight teeth. As result, every doctor considered fixing my teeth complicated, costly and painful. Having to deal with the situation, smiling became more self conscious till I got a chance to share this problems with Dr. Eric Haney, a very dear friend of mine. He offered a year of braces to correct my bite and smile. Even though, having braces in my 30s could look silly but seem to be the only option. I have manage to rock the braces the past year to the point that all my friends have been asking for his practice and insist that I would keep them longer. I will be done this month and I am extremely excited to see the final result and highly grateful for his expertise. My bite and my smile has exceed any expectation I ever could have.
