A small tooth fragment was left behind from my wisdom tooth extraction many years ago at another dentist's office. It was a pebble, I would hardly notice it, barely registered on an x-ray. Every now and then when I'd floss in the lower right area, I'd feel something back there. Honestly though, most days I just forgot all about it. Enough was enough--I scheduled an appointment and the front desk was so kind and patiently answered all my questions. When I arrived to my appointment, I was seated almost right away and Dr. Chu, after a good 20-30 minutes, with great assistance from KC, got the piece removed. Turns out after all this time, it had fused to the bone? Anyway, thankful for skilled hands of a very experienced doctor! My husband and I have been going to Chu & Yang Dental office for 5-6 years now. We both see Dr Tammy Min and she's one of the few dentist that is so patience and gentle with her patients. I easily get anxious so having Dr Min's calmness helps me get through all my dental procedures. She's very detailed and professional. We joked that she married to my teeth because she always cares about them and makes sure they are healthy. Cynthia is super sweet and patience as well, she never rushes me and always tries to explain (multiple times) when I have questions (usually the same questions because I have a chronic mommy brain now). Ok. Before you get upset at my 2 star review, let me say that 90% of dentists are SUPER nice. They all have a great facade and want to welcome you to their office with open arms. My wife and I have been to many dentists over the years due to her complications with her bite as well as her overall dental health. It's not that she's horrible at hygiene, otherwise I probably would not have married her, she just has tons of crowns and fillings. We made our first appointment when the mother in law had a consult for a periodontist assessment before doing invisalign with a family friend orthodontist. Dr. Chu is very nice. He was a professor before and was very courteous. He explained to the mom she doesn't have that bad of gums and that she just needs a deep cleaning. He also said that he would do a regular cleaning first and then do a deep cleaning next year so that she doesn't have to pay out of pocket which was nice. However, later we told them that we wanted her to have the deep cleaning and just pay out of pocket for the remainder as it would just be waste of insurance money because money is still money in the end. NO matter what, even if we don't pay it, the dental office gets the money from the insurance dont forget that. Also, without patients and their procedures they wouldn't have an office to pay the rent. NOW on to the reason for the negative review. We both went for a dental cleaning. Got x rays taken and everything. The hygienist again was very nice. When they did our flossing, they just went up and down and not under the grooves of the teeth like you are supposed to. NO big deal. What annoyed me was Dr. Chu had about 4 patients at the same time and was quickly going back and forth. He came to my wife and did a quick cleaning and didn't say anything and left. He then came to me and did the same quick cleaning and said that my teeth are fine but on the side I have a small groove that should be filled just in case you don't get a cavity and left. THat was it. SPent maybe 5 min with me and the wife. Later, when we went to pay and make our future appointment, the hygienist came to us and said we needed to make an appointment for fillings because we each had a cavity. We were so confused because the dentist NEVER told us that. She then said that after I fill it I eventually needed to get some sort of surgery to prevent the cavity from getting bigger. I just saw a dentist 6 months ago and they said I had no cavities. My wife just saw a dentist last week to confirm or deny the rumors of the cavity and this dentist said that she had no cavity. All in all no matter what, the fact that the dentist himself didn't tell us we had a cavity and that we heard it from the hygienist was very unprofessional. ALso, making us have the insurance pay for fillings that were not needed to get some extra money was wrong as well. We aren't coming back here. read more

They all are capable of doing most procedures, but there are definitely specialties from each of them (gum disease, ortho, deep cleaning... Location: Great office location off the 405 freeway. A lot of of parking. Very clean/new looking complex--not like the strip mall experience you tend to find with other dental offices. They have a second location in the city of Orange! I've been seeing Dr. Victor for nearly a decade now, during which I have moved twice, once from Irvine to Riverside and more recently to San Diego. Still, I will gladly make the drive up to see him and all of the other staff at Chu and Yang! When you first walk in, the waiting area is pristine and inviting, and the reception staff incredibly friendly. Take a walk around the rest of the offices and you'll find that it is furnished well, kept clean, and the equipment is up to date and sterilized properly. Perhaps the biggest thing that keeps me coming back after all these years is that it feels like home. Well...as much as the dentist's office can feel like home. ;) The staff are all super kind and the turnover rate low, which means they have to be doing something right if so many staff stay there for so long! It's nice to come back and have staff ask about things you've shared during previous visits. You feel like they actually care about you and that you are more than just a number. Between my husband and I, we have seen Dr. Chu, Dr. Yang, and Dr. Victor. Each seems to have a different specialty, and all of them are very knowledgable, working efficiently, effectively, very thoroughly, and with as little pain as possible, which is great because I get lots of cavities (insert clenched face emoji here). I always appreciate when Dr. Victor asks me what I want to listen to on Pandora to make the visit more comfortable, and that he doesn't cavity-shame me. ;) Overall, I feel very grateful for this practice. Dr. Victor and his staff are the best! I had a cavity since last year, that I was putting off because I was apprehensive about getting an injection in my gums. I saw Dr. Victor for the first time in March and he confirmed what my previous dentist had told me. I finally went in for my treatment today and it was surprisingly painless... Now I have no idea what I was worried about all this whole time. Dr. Victor is extremely nice and he's very gentle. I don't know how, but I barely even felt the injection that he gave me today. He said I'd feel a small pinch, but I didn't even feel one. For that, I'll be coming back... and I am also making an appointment for my husband. I heard about Chu & Yang Dental from a friend who also comes here. Honestly I hate coming to the dentist. I think my teeth are ok even though I don't take care of them and don't floss much. But I have to say, my experience here was awesome and I learned a lot about my teeth that my previous dentists never paid attention to. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by their friendly staff. I had an appointment with Dr. Huang and she was by far the best dentist I have ever met. In the past when I saw dentists it was always a very brief encounter and straight to business without any explanation but Dr. Huang took photos of my teeth and explained things in detail. I was there for about 45 minutes and I had a full dental examination with xrays. In the end, I felt satisfied with the treatment plan and what to do next. I am so happy to see healthy gums on my lower right teeth, no more sensitive roots due to gum recession, thanks to Dr Chu - my periodontist, who performed pinhole procedure on this gum area a month ago, imagining gum rejuvenating without surgical wounds from gum grafting! Prior to this procedure, Dr Chu prepped this area by removing bonding and a thorough deep clean, this is very important to ensure new gums and bone grow together healthily. The procedure takes a highly concentrated one hour, although I follow post-op instructions at home, my clenching and grinding teeth at night resulted bleeding, I was so disappointed and upset, did I ruin it? Dr Chu checked next day and said everything is good, no worry. Dr Chu and Yang's office staff is pleasant, Dr Yang did my orthodontics works and makes my smile beautiful, Dr Chu takes care of all my gum problems, and Victor does general. I keep going back to them although I moved away, Dr Chu always make sure I get multiple tasks done in one visit. read more

I have been a patient here for quite a few years and they know what they are doing. Aside from regular cleanings I have had a number of other procedures done. I had my teeth whitened before my wedding. They looked great. I had a crown put on after I had an infection in my root canal from a cracked tooth. It was very tricky but has been trouble free since. I've also had some receding gums and Dr. Chu filled the gap between the tooth and the gumline. When I was overseas another dentist did the procedure first but I was warned to floss carefully otherwise they would fall off and even with my best efforts they all fell off. After seeing Dr. Chu, the fillers are fine and are still on regardless of how I floss. I highly recommend them. My teeth are prone to cavities and they are well taken care of here. read more
