Even with my professional background, I am an anxious dental patient when I'm the one sitting in the chair. What I have always appreciated about Dr. Hsu is his ability to put patients at ease. He takes the time to explain procedures clearly, answers questions thoughtfully, and never makes anyone feel rushed. That same calm and reassuring approach made a real difference to me as a patient. My extraction and implant placement went smoothly, and the recovery was far easier than I expected, with minimal discomfort. The result was excellent. What impresses me most about Dr. Hsu is not only his surgical skill, but also his genuine care for his patients and his attention to detail. His entire team reflects those same qualities--professional, efficient, and truly committed to providing outstanding care. As a referring dentist, recommending Dr. Hsu to my patients has always been an easy decision. After experiencing his care firsthand, my confidence in him is even greater. Quite simply, he is the finest oral surgeon I have had the privilege of working with, and I admire him greatly. -- Dr. Y

She deserves her own 5 star review for being so cheerful and kind. She's a WINNER and makes any dental procedure so much easier and less stressful!! Bf had some extensive dental work done somewhere else and needed an oral surgeon to assess the bleeding. Dr Nguyen was luckily available yesterday to come to the rescue! We came back this morning so he could remove the packing and used collagen tape instead of stitches! What an amazing dentist he is and I would never go anywhere else even though it's a schlep!! A++

I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Yu a few days later he took the time out of his busy schedule to survey the tooth and told me that it was a concussion and to let it heal. I came back a couple weeks later and got some x-rays and thankfully it healed about a month later. I'd appreciate his care and great bedside manner, even my anxiety. I recently came back for a check up and cleaning and I have to admit I got the best cleaning from Cindy. She started with asking me about any concerns I had and I mentioned enamel erosion. Well what I thought was enamel erosion was a lot of tartar on the surface of my teeth and she was able to really scale through all my tartar as well as clean the stains on the bottom of my teeth and make my teeth polished, clean and shiny like a new set of teeth! Also love the front desk staff! They are always so kind and organized. I actually was able to come in earlier due to a cancellation because they had made a note of it late last year!

I really believe that dental health is so important to overall health and living a long and healthy life. I insist on cleaning every four months. My gums are so important to me and my health. I had to wait six to eight months to get in to see Dr. Yu, but it was worth it. My past dentists tried to upsell me or tell me I needed unnecessary work, but that will not happen here. I highly recommend Dr. Yu.

Not only did they accommodate our request but did it with a level of care you don't see anymore. On the day of the procedure, they allowed me to go back with my son until they sedated him to help him feel comfortable. Then they gave me clear instructions on where to park so they could walk him out when he woke up. The nurse even helped get him into the car. The only way I can judge the actual extraction is by how my son recovered. He's been eating and drinking fluids well. His bleeding stopped promptly (kids are like Wolverine). I said he should go to school tomorrow but he gave me the death stare. All in all, we were very pleased with our entire experience at Honest Oral Surgeon! Thanks Dr. Kim and staff!

The dentist told me that she saw a shadow in the root of that tooth. She said it was a cavity. She claimed that the only solution was to extract the tooth and do an implant. They just conveniently have an implant specialist in the same office that sees patients once a month. I said sure, I can talk to the specialist and see if it's even necessary to do implant at all. As I was trying to make an appointment with the specialist, I was told that I had to have an MRI for my teeth before I could even see the specialist. And they were really trying to sell the implant to me. At that point, I grew suspicious so I just left. Fast forward, I went to a different dentist with the X-ray that was taken previously. This new dentist said there's nothing wrong with my teeth in the X-ray. Out of precaution, he took a new X-ray for the mobile tooth. Again, nothing wrong. Yep, I was being defrauded. So, do not come here if you don't want to lose a completely perfect tooth and replace it with an implant that you never needed.

I could hear him in the next room chit chatting. When he finally saw me he said I needed a CT scan to determine how close the nerves were to my lower wisdom teeth. He kept saying I waited too long to get my teeth pulled (I have serious surgery anxiety) and I don't have a time machine to go back in time to get my teeth pulled. In any case, I had time to take the additional scans but I wouldn't have time to wait for him to make his rounds again. He said he would review the scans to determine the risk level, make a recommendation and give me a call. I didn't have to schedule the surgery date as the front office had already scheduled my surgery appt when I scheduled the consultation. Fast forward about 4 days and it's the day of the surgery. There was a mix up with the anti anxiety medication that was prescribed caused by the office / CVS and after multiple phone calls, I had to forego the prescription and head to the office for surgery. When I checked in, I stated he never called me about whether I would be getting 2 or 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled. They assured me that he would discuss it with me. They take me back to the room and the dental assistant does her best to calm my nerves. She was really sweet. After 20+ min, the oral surgeon enters the room and I ask whether he made a decision as to whether it was too risky, he stated again that was why I shouldn't have waited so many years to get my teeth pulled. Then he said I made the appt to get all 4 teeth pulled. I panicked. I let him know my surgery was scheduled before I even had my consultation. I asked him for his recommendation. He said there was risk either way. Under extreme anxiety and no time to think it out, I made the decision to go with all 4. I knew I'd never have the nerve to go through this again. He administered the anesthesia himself and I was knocked out. Why did I have to pay additional $$ to get CT scans that weren't even used? The surgery went seemingly okay. I was sent home with multiple pages of instructions (that happened to contradict each other) but was able to call the office for follow up questions. After the shots wore off, I had no feeling in my lower gums, lower lip and chin. My first follow up visit was pretty pointless as the oral surgeon wasn't even there. I went back another week later for a second follow up, and spoke to the oral surgeon. He stated he never saw the nerves during surgery so it was odd that I was so numb. He also let me know that whatever feeling hadn't returned in 4 months, wouldn't likely return. It's been 4 months, full feeling has not returned yet. I guess I just have to live this way. Overall, I couldn't recommend this surgeon. I know it could have been worse but it could have gone a lot better. There was too much confusion, not enough follow through and the outcome was less than desirable.

However, I found the pricing for ceramic crowns to be significantly higher than expected. In my experience, comparable treatment can be found at a lower cost in nearby Newport Beach. Additionally, the office is on the smaller side, and parking is limited, which can make visits a bit less convenient. Sorry, Dr. Khan--your expertise is priceless... unfortunately, my wallet strongly disagrees. LOL
