As a first time home buyer, of course I heard all the horror stories from peers and colleagues about the dreadful mortgage process. I had spoken with a few other mortgage brokers in the past who seemed to only provide partial information about the requirements/ steps needed to secure a mortgage ect, and it made me doubt my qualifications/ readiness to apply (despite having a good credit score, decent down payment, and steady income/employment). However after being referred by a close friend to my real estate agent, who then advised that I speak with Eric regarding my concerns and desires, I immediately felt a sense of relief and optimism. I'm so thankful for the referral I got to Eric and his team at United Lending Partners!!! I had tried refinancing my 2 home loans with another lender who had been recommended on Nextdoor, but it was a disaster. One thing after another didn't go as expected with this person, with added fees, changes that weren't previously disclosed, and multiple episodes that caused me to completely distrust him. The straw that broke the camels back was when he asked me at the very end of the process "How do you want to pay my $4,000 fee, add it to the loan or cash?" I cancelled the pending koan with this person and was about to give up on refinancing altogether when a friend mentioned they knew someone local in the industry. Enter Eric and his amazing team. After the previous mess, I was skeptical, but willing to try one last time. From the beginning, Eric was transparent about the fees and process, and always very responsive to my questions. I knew I had a challenging situation with an unusual source of income and a second loan I was trying to incorporate into the refinance, but Eric's partner Marissa went to battle for me with the lender, and never gave up in getting me a great loan at a more affordable rate! She was determined and dogged in her approach and I appreciated her efforts so very much! We had been searching for a home to call our own for about five months before we ran into Akel at an open house. Our previous real estate agent was a nice person, but oftentimes left us feeling confused about the process and we found ourselves spending months looking at homes that were above our loan cap before we realized that there were caps based on our loan type and the county. We had also dealt with our previous mortgage company requesting the same documents from us over and over again as well everytime we attempted to put in an offer on a house. Our previous mortgage company was also incredibly unclear about what the next steps were and what was happening with our mortgage rate whenever we asked.  Once we began working with Akel he recommended Eric Lawson, and having the chance to work with them was so worth the wait. They also helped guide us to a better loan that would help save us money in the long run. We found Eric Lawson through our realtor and we were very happy with the way our financing of the house occurred. We bought our house September 2012 and just were not the kind of people who had money laying around to give a bigger down payment. So with 5% down we were going to have to pay a private mortgage insurance through our mortgage lender loan, we were not happy about that. Eric reassured us that in a few years we could ask for the house to be reappraised and if our house value went up then we could have the private mortgage insurance removed. As soon as two years past I contacted Eric and he reassured me all we had to do was contact the lender and let them know that we would like to have the private mortgage insurance removed. The lender followed up and sent us the paperwork we reappraise the house and two weeks later we found out that our house appraised much higher than we anticipated. Our private mortgage insurance was removed and we are much happier with our mortgage payment.
