I've had their lunch special a handful of times and NEVER disappoints , yes the place looks odd but thank god you're in the middle of the mountains where you can take this delish plate TO-GO & sit near the creek ? Wow! Who knew Idaho Springs would have such a sweet spot for Asian food! On a recent trip to the area, I was really craving Pad Thai and Google guided me here. Don't let the building fool you. Yes, it's old. Yes, it's not in the best shape. A little outdated sure...but the taste, quality and prices more than make up for it. When I entered, there was a gentleman (maybe the owner) on the phone taking an order. When he got off he immediately greeted me and asked me if I was dining in or out. I had a chance to peruse the menu while he was on the phone and was perplexed by the menu options and prices. A lot of diverse options and crazy low prices for dinner options. I placed my order for salt & pepper wings, chicken pad Thai and hot and sour soup. The owner (I'm assuming) told me the noodles were already spicy when I asked for spicy and that the wings would have take 20 mins, so I took his suggestion and ordered as it would normally come and didn't mind waiting on the wings. I had an IPA while I waited and a customer came in who said he drove 30 miles to get his food, that's how good it is he told me. Now when I got the bill, I was shocked to see it was only $30.25! For all of what I ordered, normally that would be closer to $40-$50 dollars in some places. And they don't skimp on the portion size either. I'm only giving 4 stars because the noodles were not spicy at all and I didn't get anything to make it spicier. Do not skip this little hole in the wall. So....the sign says you can have cocktail there and there is a bar. But....don't even think of sitting at the bar because Eric didn't allow it. Our table had Scotch tape holding it together but we accepted that. Was scared to ask Eric for a second drink because we didn't want to get scolded again. On a positive note the spring rolls the egg rolls were good. The food is good here but Eric's attitude made me feel like I was in NYC not the mountains of Colorado. read more

The food was pretty good. Service was quick but there where only 4 people including mle the ambiance was pretty cool, lots of paintings and a TV showing the stock market but was kinda dirty. A wierd woman kept asking the owner to remove her tax and he got a little upset understandably because first of all why, and second of all how. I went today with my family. Long story short, my daughter ordered x, the person that went to our table heard Y.... He may have been the owner..... We didn't mind at all, we were hungry, and with a big smile we said we'd take it without a problem . Not sure why the reaction, as we didn't push back or asked him to bring the other food.... We gladfully said we'd eat it (the other food looked good too). But then he said "I may be stupid, but I'm not deaf, she didn't ordered that.... I can guarantee that 100%"..... He was grouchy and that reaction was totally uncalled for in front of our kid Again, we had already agreed that we would eat what he brought.... I should have confronted him but didn't. I have visited this establishment three or more times. The three visits were all great experiences. I suggest you call ahead to confirm this mountain Asian restaurant is open. Many people choose to use parking spots at the front entrance. I prefer the large parking lot in the rear of the restaurant for my truck to park comfortably. Eric is so funny his service was on point. The restaurant has a bar with hot Sake, beers and cocktails. I encourage you to try the fresh hot salty edamame delicious. The sauce on the chicken wings made the dish yummy. I tried not the eat the pan fried dumplings and gyoza so quickly. They always are my favorite appetizers. When it is snowing outside I crave the wonton soup extra wontons and egg drop soup. The egg drop has corn, peas, and the perfect ribbons of eggs. I tried something different Tropical Fried Rice it was amazing. My go to is the chicken basil with fried rice. One time I ordered Togo and biked down Virginia Canyon Rd. What a beautiful time for a bike ride while the Aspens were changing to gold. It was a rememberable romantic asian cuisine picnic. read more

We started off ok with a waiter that didn't really speak much English, then the food came out which was also ok, but small portioned for the price. BUT then the bill came, with was NOT reported at all and had a price of 78.25, when we only got five dishes and nothing else. Just a random stop and ended up coming to this hidden gem. Right off the back they welcomed me and so sweet. I started with the edamame (spicy ) Amazing! Went with the hot and sour soup wasn't a big fan of it, it was fine and then ended with the General Taos chicken the sauce was great I would of just preferred the chicken grilled seeing how I felt most of it was breaded. We loved Eric's! Odd name for an Asian eatery, but don't be deterred! The service, the atmosphere and the food - all impeccable. We felt well taken care of - not sure of the other Yelpers who had a different experience, as ours was fabulous, start to finish. The food was amazing. My guy is half Asian so his palate is more refined than mine. That said, we both raved about the seafood stir fried rice, the green beef curry and miso soup we enjoyed together. Flavors were on point; the portions were ample and the entree in general tasted amazing.... the kind of amazing that brings a sigh of relief. We were worried, truth be told, with Eric being in the name, but hey you shouldn't assume, right (although we did. Fail.). Just being honest. We were looking for authentic Thai cuisine. Eric's was certainly a surprise. They had surprisingly decent Chinese food for being in the middle of nowhere. The service was pretty quick and the food came out very fast. I think it's probably a 3 star place in general for me, but taking into account the context of location bumps it up to a 4/5. Would go here again if I was in the area. read more

The tropical fried rice with a curry seasoning, pineapple, cashews and pork -- Off the chain! Sesame chicken: big portions, great value and delicious sauce / fresh white chicken The steamed rice is a critical component. It was nice and sticky and great compliment to the meal. I just called to place a take out order. The man who took it was extremely rude: I politely asked for my husband's green curry to be mild and he hung up on me. I thought it was a bad connection, so I called again to place my order. When I asked for mild, this time he replied angrily that he could not do that, that I was calling the wrong restaurant, and hung up again! My husband then called to see what happened, and he hung up on him too! We were both appalled with what transpired and could not believe that happened to us. We have never been treated like that. It's perfectly okay if they cannot change the heat level of their food, but it's another thing to handle the situation the way they did. I would have easily accepted if we get food the way they make it, but get hung up on and have someone from the restaurant be unnecessarily rude to us is another thing. I will make sure to share with everyone we know about this experience, so they too do not have to encounter this shocking rudeness. I hope to deter them from this Your restaurant lost such a great customer, which is so sad since we tried their food last week, and we enjoyed it. This place is not the most esthetically pleasing but the food is on point. The owner was a really nice and friendly. He was making small talk with both us and the kids. He even offered them almond cookies while we were waiting for our food to be done. We ordered for take away. The food was really tasty and flavorful. Literally the worst dining experience of my life. I simply ordered a dish without egg. He went to the kitchen and then came back and yelled at our party- told us to "get out!" He then mocked me for not being able to eat eggs, It was very uncomfortable, I thought he was joking and had a warped sense of humor at first- it was that bizarre. Dirty floors, food and crumbs never cleaned, the owner who also serves, is rude and not friendly. Dining room is never clean. There was a serious Health Code violation in the past that shut the restaurant down. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like if the dining room is this bad.
