I took my car to Eric's Car Care in Rice Village and had a shockingly disappointing experience. My daughter just moved to Houston, so she had out of state plates on her car. I asked them to diagnose a problem with the AC. They told me it would cost $6,300 to repair it. I did not have them fix it, as I knew that was an outrageous price and the issues they identified were mostly bogus. I went to another shop and got everything fixed for $1400. Unless you are looking to be ripped off, don't go to this place. Here is what happened. I wanted to replace low beam bulbs that were still working but became very weak over time . They estimated parts (150) plus labor for a total of over 1500. I explained to them that I don't need to replace whole assembly, just bulbs. So estimate went down to 700. I was not willing to pay more than 200. So I bought bulbs on Amazon for 12 ( twelve) dollars. Not the cheapest one, but Amazon recommended. Whated YouTube video and it took me literally 5 minutes to replace the bulbs. Note , I was very reasonable and willing to pay 200. But not 1500 that con artists wanted read more

I have been here multiple times. They are always nice and work with you on what needs to be done to your car. They are honest with the urgency of service needed. I always call a family member with more car knowledge than myself and they have always felt the prices/timeframe/service is good! I recommend them to anyone in the area. This small yet mighty establishment is a breath of fresh air in a part of town you would not expect automotive services. It is actually in a cluster of other automotive service shops on Kirby but trust me you will not find a more professional, polished, clean, courteous place amongst the lot of them. Charged $800 in "diagnostic", damaged my windshield, were rude, refused to replace it, and accused me of lying. I recently took my 2013 Honda Civic SI to this auto mechanic, expecting professional service and clear communication. Initially, I was quoted $120 for a diagnostic, which seemed reasonable. However, my experience quickly deteriorated from there. After the initial diagnostic, I was informed that a compression test was necessary, costing an additional $179.93, to which I agreed. Upon completion, they suggested removing the valve cover for further inspection, adding another $448.70 to my bill. Weeks passed, and then I was hit with the shocking suggestion that my car needed a new engine, quoted at $6,000. I decided not to proceed with this costly repair and opted to retrieve my car, paying nearly $800 for the diagnostics and inspections performed up to that point. Upon picking up my vehicle, I discovered several new cracks in the windshield, which were not present when I had initially left the car in their care. When I addressed this issue with the manager, I was met with rudeness and a complete refusal to take responsibility for the damage incurred while my car was in their possession. Moreover, I left with no clear documentation of the diagnostic work that justified the near $800 charge. This experience was not only frustrating but also costly, leaving me with more issues than solutions. My recounting is based on the hope that it provides insight into the challenges customers might face and encourages potential future customers to carefully consider their options. I also extend an invitation to the higher management or owners of the business to reach out to me directly if they believe this account does not reflect their standards or if there are steps we can take together toward resolution. Very disapointed with Eric's. Took my 4 runner in and expected it to pass with flying colors. Besides having to wait almost 2 hours, they failed it saying that my rack and pinion was leaking and wanted to charge almost 2 grand to fix it. When I got home, I climbed under the car and saw no leaking and the reservoir was full. I think they figure that anyone that lives near Rice Village must be wealthy and will just say "fix it" ! read more

These guys you can really rely on. I've been coming to them since they opened. They have patched my tires on multiple occasions within 20 mins with no appointment. Very friendly staff been coming for a while just for simple stuff. I took a chance and listen to them I spent $1800 for my truck to sound the same way I brought it too them I am truly pissed off and frustrated. I called to inform them and Roxanne was very sassy with me after I let her know didn't like her tone after I told her my truck still riding and sound the same. Wasn't the energy I received before spending my money with them. And not what you say it's how you say it !!!! I would be careful about going to this shop. I went there last week, and the customer service was very friendly. They booked me a shuttle ride and kept my car for two days - although were never ever able to fix the "issues" (claimed the hurricane led to them not receiving parts). It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I took it another car shop in town and was diagnosed for $1200 less. Not only did they disagree on if my control valves needed replacing (which I can see being debatable), but Eric's Car Care diagnosed my battery as needing replacement which simply wasn't accurate. I think they are extremely friendly people, but I get the sense that they will take advantage of those who do not have much knowledge of cars and will mislead those who are willing to take whatever recommendation is offered. read more

I just left work in the Med Center, and my dashboard indicated low air pressure in a tire. I could not see any change in my tires, but immediately took it to Eric's Car Care since they took GREAT care of my car about year ago. I got there 5 minutes before closing and they welcomed me by my name....amazing how friendly and personal they are! Within 5 minutes, they took my car in the shop, found the tire with low pressure, inspected it and filled it up to the recommended air pressure level. All fixed within 10 minutes of arriving just before closing time! As before, friendly, great service and I cannot say enough good things about how they handle customers and how efficient they are in car service. Thank you Eric's!!!!! Again.....THE BEST! read more

I am concerned that this location maybe be subpar for vehicle inspection I brought my car in for state inspection. I was told I needed a slew of things fixed before it was passed. I was told that I needed my battery replaced and my gas cap was leaking. I knew this was not possible because I had just serviced my car at my car dealership 2 months prior. I paid the inspection fee and was given a fail. I had to then took my car to my original dealership the next day and they inspected my car and I was told there is nothing wrong with my car, as I had suspected. Nothing wrong with the battery or gas cap. I suspect Eric car care may be preying in individuals that don't know much about cars recommending unnecessary repairs. I will be filing a complaint with Texas DPS. read more

I took my car here for a simple inspection, and they alerted me that my two front tires needed replacement. They gave me a price for the tires, and since I'm a young woman, I was worried I might be taken advantage of or scammed. Luckily, I was able to talk to my brother, who's also a mechanic, and he told me I was getting a great deal from Eric's Car Care. I also needed my wheels aligned, and while they were working on it, they called me to inform me that they heard a clicking sound in my car and went ahead and checked it out for free! Not only did they figure out what was wrong with my car, but they also did a temporary fix until I can afford to completely fix it. I'm not used to this kind of amazing service from an auto shop and will be making Eric's Car Care my go-to shop from now on. Thank you, Hani, for making sure I completely understood everything y'all did to my car and for helping me understand what was wrong with it. While temporarily in Houston, another repair shop replaced the control arms on my Honda Civic, leaving the car seriously out of alignment and without the equipment needed to perform the alignment and leaving me with the problem to solve. Eric's took me right in on short notice and aligned the car and performed a State Inspection. They were very service oriented and gave me complimentary Uber rides to and from my hotel while the work was being performed. I highly recommend! read more

These guys saved me when my car battery was almost dead on a rainy day and O'Reilly's around the corner did not show any concern for my situation. They worked me in right away when I told them I had to go to work and got me out of trouble for not much more than I would have paid at O'Reilly's. Plus, they paid extra care to making sure everything was reset correctly and controls read what they should--the customer care was excellent. Honest? Not sure. I went in because of a coupon for a $32.99 synthetic oil change. I asked if the coupon will work for my VW Tiguan. First behind counter guy consults second behind counter guy and then says yes. I left. Guy from Eric's calls and says that the coupon is for synthetic blend, and my VW Tiguan needs fully synthetic oil so cost will be about $85. I said Firestone had quoted $60 over the phone knowing it was a VW Tiguan. Guy at Eric's says they must have made a mistake. So I go to Firestone down the street. When I arrive, Firestone says $60 is for synthetic blend not fully synthetic. For fully synthetic, it will be $95.47 walk out the door inclusive of taxes. I say thanks and go back to Eric's. I say "you were right. They misquoted. I'll have you do it for the $85." Second behind the counter says great. I come to get my car. Walk out price is $80.27, which I thought was odd since I expected it to be $85 but figured guy who called earlier just overshot estimate as he was estimating. I get home and look at invoice; it says they used synthetic blend. I go back and say "please explain why this says you used synthetic blend after our conversations this morning about how I needed fully synthetic oil." First guy behind counter looks blank and fiddles with the computer. Someone who works in the shop says "Is it the VW Tiguan?" I said yes. He said "Oh, I worked on that. I used fully synthetic. I know that car needs fully synthetic. They may have made a mistake a check out." I have no way of knowing whether they used fully synthetic oil in my car. read more

Brought my car to Eric's Car Care for simple oil change and they upsold me on a tire rotation. Two weeks later I bring my car to my dealer for a more significant repair and find out that whoever rotated my tires had over-torqued the wheel stud on driver side front tire, which needed to be replaced (cost $175). I called Roxanne to let her know what happened. She offered to fix the wheel stud if I brought the car back to her. I couldn't because my car was mid-repair at the dealer, and I couldn't go pick it up and bring it back to Eric's to fix the wheel nut, then pick it up and bring it back to the dealer to complete the repair. Roxanne said she couldn't offer any reimbursement on the $175 I paid for a replacement wheel stud. I ended up paying Eric's Car Care $40 for unnecessary tire rotation that caused a damaged wheel stud which cost me an additional $175. Based on this horrible experience, Eric's Car Care gets an F for customer service. read more
