My elderly friend was quoted 400 for changing one headlight and they said it would actually be a little more because the bumper would have to be removed to replace the light. After reading these great reviews I called Joes auto repair. My son's 2015 Ford F150 AC was blowing hot air on the driver side. I was told to call back the following Tuesday to see if I could bring it in to be repaired. I called and was told to bring it in for repair. A few days after taking the truck I was told to come get the truck because they could not find the parts. A week later on Saturday June 21, 2025 I took the truck to Firestone on Kirby. This morning Tuesday June 24 2025 I received a call from Firestone that it was ready. I just drove home with my son's AC blowing cold AC. This was the second time I took a vehicle to Joes On Stella Link. The first time I took a Masserati Gibli they kept the car a few days but then said they could not fix it. When I picked up the Masserati there was a noticeable rough change in the sound of the engine. They reported not working on the car but I don't believe it now. Don't waste your time unless you've been there before. They don't give new customers the time or attention needed to do the repairs. read more

It doesn't get any better. I have used Joes for over 20 years, never had any issues. Fixed right the first time, never had to return for the same issue. He has worked on my VW, Toyota, and others. Easy to deal with, no games. The business looks small from the street but he has many bays to work on the cars. There is nothing pretentious about this place. Beware of the school zone, watch your speed in the school zones. There are kids everywhere when the schools let out. If you want honest work, reasonable priced, this is it. read more

Strange experience. Went here on recommendation of two neighbors, who gave it strongly positive reviews. Had car towed and dropped off at location due to brake issues. This was after calling ahead to see if they could take it (attendant on duty affirmed). Vehicle sat on lot for 10 business days without receiving an inspection. I called twice during this span to check on status and was told they hadn't gotten to yet. Ten days is a long time to sit without even a cursory look. Frustrated, had vehicle towed to My Mechanic (repair shop down the street). My Mechanic inspected the vehicle same day and had issue fixed in 2.5 business days. It was costly. But repairs seemed to have been adequately performed and vehicle is in working order. Weird Joe's didn't even take a look. Or more so, didn't bother to tell me they couldn't take it. Would have saved me two weeks without a vehicle. They lost out on $1.8k repair job. Very low marks for customer service at Joes. Will not try again. read more

I guess theyare a victim of success. I called on Monday and they told me that they were too busy to help and that I could try again on Friday but he doubted they could help cause they had 60+ cars. I waited because I've heard good stuff about them and called on Friday. I was told that they were down to 40+ cars but they still couldn't help but I could try again on Tuesday. I called that Tuesday and was told they were back up to 60 cars and I should just go somewhere else. I asked if I could be put on a waiting list since they obviously took another 20 cars after I called multiple times and was told no. I just don't understand their system for picking and choosing who to work with. read more

This place is 15/10 in terms of service, knowledge, and understanding. They had literally 46 cars they were tending to due to supply chain issues and still managed to treat every customer with kindness and understanding. They supported me in getting the check engine light in my car quickly diagnosed and turned off, were incredibly fair in their process, and were so kind. It has been some time since I took my vehicle here, but I wanted to be on record that they are an exceptional shop. My very old Jeep had not been driven for over a year, they inspected the entire vehicle, replaced the battery, changed the oil, did some other minor fixes and all was done for under $1K. This is a very busy shop, but if you call ahead they will advise you on what they can do to accommodate your timeframe. Most importantly, they are honest! read more

Joe is an angel. He is the most honest, caring and compassionate mechanic I have EVER been to. I got a ridiculous quote ($1200) from my former mechanic and had a suspicious feeling about it and took it to Joe for a second look. He said there was a lose wire and fixed it and sent me on my way. No charge. Joe answered all of my phone calls when I was car shopping (I am a single woman and had a bunch of questions) and he helped me find a reliable car. The battery went bad on the car a couple months later and Joe replaced it in less than 10 minutes and sent me on my way. More than being an experienced mechanic, Joe is an honest mechanic and that is rare, unfortunately. I will only be going to Joe from now on. If Joe's shop had stocks, I would buy them, no doubt!! Sought a diagnostic analysis of our Mercedes 2001 C240 that had a transmission communication problem. Joe told us Friday he could read codes and repair Monday so we waited the weekend to give him car. Monday he examined car and was completely ignorant of Mercedes. His estimate was $8000. He told us to buy another car and sent us away with a salute. In his waiting room we found another mechanic by google and gave him the car instead, the same day even though it was dangerous and difficult to drive and get there in limp mode. TEXALS ON Charles Lane in Sugarland repaired the problem with original Mercedes parts for just $1600. We also had the disc Brakes replaced, belt tensioner replaced, and paid just $2800 total. Picked up car 48 hrs. later perfectly repaired. This experience was very disappointing and I thought silly and unprofessional unless he had no confidence in Mechanics working for him to repair Mercedes. Thanks for nothing Joe, glad we didnt pay you a dime. read more

I don't do jiffy lube. I like local places. Part for supporting small businesses but also because these folks don't have an agenda. Joe is just a good dude with good hard working people in his shop. His goal is to get or keep your car running without ripping you off. Is his oil change more expensive than jiffy lube? Definitely. Just paid $35. I feel blessed to live in the vicinity of Joe's Auto Repair. Joe's came recommended by one of my closest friends. My roommate also took his vehicle to Joe's when the transmission became sluggish and wasn't shifting correctly. Joe fixed the problem for a few hundred bucks where any other mechanic might have billed my roommate for a major repair and cost him an arm and a leg. I'm delighted to have the services of this shop available to me. Several months ago I had my clutch assembly replaced by a friend of a friend junkyard mechanic. Not too long afterward, I experienced new problems with the clutch. Eventually, it was so slack that I had great difficulty depressing it in order to shift. I returned to said junkyard mechanic, who charged me several hundred dollars to supposedly fix the problem. The result was a loud screeching whenever I pushed in the clutch, and not much later the entire clutch failed, leaving me nearly unable to shift and almost stranded. So the next morning I dropped vehicle off at Joe's. Within a few hours, Joe called me back after finding the master cylinder needed replacement. He quoted me a fair amount for the repairs, and had it ready for me by the end of the day. The next day I still had some difficulty shifting into gear, so I dropped it back by Joe's. They bled the clutch some more and got it shifting right. No extra charge, and Max, one of the employees at the shop (and a nice guy I might add), gave me a ride home when I dropped off my vehicle and picked me up when the work was complete. Recently, the screeching noise my clutch made worsened, so I dropped it off at Joe's to take care of it. Joe himself rode back home with me so he could diagnose the noise, and then he drove my vehicle back to his shop. A few hours later he called me up, said the problem was fixed, having well lubricated the clutch linkage. No charge! And again, Max picked me up from my home and brought me to the shop so I could get my vehicle. Joe is a generous soul. He does great work in a timely manner and charges reasonable prices. His business is reminiscent of that old-fashioned hospitality you don't find at big box stores and corporate chains. He's had his shop on Stella Link for 20 years now. And his business is booming because of how well he treats his customers and the great service he provides the community. I highly recommend Joe's Auto Repair shop for any service or repair your vehicle might need, large or small. I brought my car to Joe's this morning because my car had been making rattling noises after having to drive through a flooded area a couple days ago. They took a look at it right away and Joe showed me exactly what was wrong with my car and explained how they were going to fix it. They had my car done in less than 30 minutes and I was both shocked and grateful when Joe told me that I didn't owe them any payment since it was an easy fix. I chose to come here after reading Yelp reviews and they are all very positive for good reason -- Joe's is a good, honest business and they are more concerned with doing hard work and fixing your car than trying to charge customers and make a profit. I had a similar experience to the previous two reviewers. My car was making a strange noise that the dealer's service department couldn't diagnose. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe's and had always heard about their excellent service and honest dealing. I went well out of my way to stop by. They took one look under the hood, noticed that my power steering fluid was low, and topped it off, no charge. Sure enough, the noise stopped. I will certainly visit again! After a complete disaster and rip off from Kwik Kar attempting to repair my air conditioner, I went to Joe's on a recommendation of a co-worker. I told him that Kwik Kar had said I needed a condenser. He started there and found that they were wrong. I needed my evaporator coil repaired. My A/C is so cold several months later that I have to turn it up. I think it is colder than when I bought the highlander. This man is honest. He has been in business in this location for a very long time which means he knows what he is doing and he treats people fairly and with respect. I picked up my car and chatted with Joe for a half hour. What a great man. Salt of the earth. I had issues with cheap mechanics messing up my car before going to joes since 2011. He's taken care of 3 cars for me. They maybe a little more expensive than other places but they are honest and honor the warranty. With my most problematic car, I had issues with the same problem and always fixed the problem each time without charging me after the first time. I drove my car in there for two minor repairs. The vehicle sat there for a week before they looked at the problem. There was an issue with acquiring one of the parts. I took the liberty of acquiring the part myself. The shop had delays in replacing the part after it was hand delivered to them. The customer service rep then requested that I tow the vehicle out that I brought to them running. The repair shop's customer service and communication both leave a lot to be desired and I would not use Joe's Auto Repair for any future service. read more

I'm new to Houston and this shop is a few blocks from me; every issue I have had with my car, minor or major, has been resolved by Joe's in a prompt, courteous and affordable manner. I have gone in more than once to be told that there's nothing wrong with my car/it's just making an odd noise. Since I know nothing about cars, I could have easily been told my vehicle needs a new belt or transmission or Exhaust Unicorn, but the staff at Joe's has always been upfront and honest with me about what is necessary.
