We came here on a Friday night, and the place was empty, which was good as our food was given to us very quickly. They make the food for the day and then you order what they have available so the food wasn't very warm. They have a lot of space if you do wanna eat there which is always good especially since Main Street can be a bit chaotic for just take out orders . I got their small jerk chicken plate, which came with white rice, plantains, and cabbage. It was OK. They cut the jerk chicken in a way that they also cut the bones so it was very hard to get chicken and not get small pieces of bone with it, which made it very uncomfortable to eat. The rice was good and the plantains were OK; I didn't try the cabbage because it's just not something I really like. I think their food is definitely expensive in comparison to other businesses in the area who offer you the same portions, and even tastier food - such as Sazon Latino right next-door. I was very disappointed, I thought the food overall was okay, but I have heard so many good things about this place I expected a lot better. Also the chicken was chopped in a way that made it very hard to eat with all of the tiny bones. The service was alright too, the staff didn't come off as very friendly but they weren't rude in anyway. The restaurant offers a decent amount of seating and was clean. They seem to do a lot of take-out but there are simple chairs and tables in the dining area. The place is kept clean. When entering the restaurant the smells are intoxicating. I ordered the Curry Goat ($16.50) which comes with white rice and peas, steamed cabbage and plantains at the counter. When the food is done it is brought to your table. The Jamaican spices are used to perfection here. If you are looking for authentic Jamaican food, Eric has it. I have had the Jerk Chicken platter ($16.50) as a take-out dinner and it was delicious as well. The oxtail platter is their most popular and sells for (21.50). Delicious ! My family and I came to Eric's Jamaican Cuisine last Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. My never too impressed Jamaican Husband loved every bit. I love love Jamaican food and I literally can eat it everyday if it's in the area when I'm hungry. We were in the area at the time when we wanted to pick up something to go. The lady behind the counter was super friendly and adorable and on top of the oxtail I usually order, I also got the curry chicken and beef patties to go. The oxtail was not as flavorful as I liked it unfortunately. Not sure if they had a bad day. But the oxtail was not that tender and the meat did not fall off the bone when you bite on it like the other places. The flavor was also a bit lacking and bland. The beef and curry chicken patties were decent however. I would like to think they just had a bad day and didn't cook the oxtail long enough or flavor it as much as they should've. You ever crave Jamaican food and when you look it up, there's actually a Jamaican spot nearby! I was excited to check out Eric's especially after seeing they had plantains which is definitely one of my food obsessions. I ordered the Small Jerk Chicken Plate (~$12). It comes with jerk chicken, rice and peas, some cabbage, and 2 plantains. Due to the pandemic, there's no seating so I grabbed my food and was on my way. The jerk chicken was bursting with flavor! The char from the chicken and amount of seasoning on there was no joke. I liked the rice and peas a lot. If there is ever any other rice option, do yourself a favor and DON'T get it; it's all about the rice and peas. Their was so little of the cabbage and it was such a minor part of the meal that it didn't make a difference to me. I think I would have preferred a more fresh element in the plate. The biggest disappointment was the plantains. Unfortunately, they were pretty dry and lacked flavor or depth. It just didn't seem as fresh as I expected. As I was deciding whether to buy vegetables, I thought about whether there were any local restaurants I haven't tried yet. Ah, yes, Eric's. People have been telling me to eat here for months and I just... haven't. I also haven't used my expensive new bike since I bought it in the summer. Tonight, I killed two birds with one stone, and biked down the hill to Eric's. Turns out people are right. No, they don't cook the chicken while you wait. That's not how this works. They spend hours slow-cooking it to fall off the bone perfection, then quickly heat it up when you order. The rice and peas had plenty of flavor and soaked up the brown stew nicely. The chicken was plentiful and perfectly done. Everything goes together in this dish. This place knows how to cook and knows how to be Jamiacan. Now I've got two new notes to take care of: 1) Come back for the tripe and beans and other unusual dishes, 2) Come for a Saturday breakfast and finally eat ackee. We placed our order at the cashier, settled at a table, and the food came out around five minutes later. FOOD: The menu is simple, but less is more. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and Oxtail entrees (options: small or large, we chose small). Both the chicken and oxtail were evidently slow-cooked with love and tender care because they just slid off the bone so smoothly. The jerk chicken is a staple - must try! - it was a little bit of smokey, little sweet, little spicy, a lot of rich seasoning. The rice, peas, vegetables, and plantains added the perfect balance of flavor to the chicken. Every bite was enjoyable. Even though we ordered small sizes, the portions were generous. We ordered the Jamaician Beef Patty, Oxtail, Jerk Chicken dinner which comes with a choice of white rice or rice & peas, plantains and steamed cabbage. The only complaint that I really have is that the temperature food was not warm/hot, it was cold. The only thing that was warm was the steamed cabbage and the beef patty. They really should of microwaved this because my leftovers tasted much better. They should of at least trick me or something into thinking it's fresh, lol. The food was very well seasoned but the Jerk Chicken was on the drier side and the Oxtail was not as tender as I would of liked. Prices are very good and the portion sizes were really big. The food is very authentic, but perhaps it was the end of the night that they didn't have all the dishes available so we had to order around the menu. We had the curried goat, oxtail, cow foot, and whole fish. The curried goat was well braised and the sauce was good, however it was a bit salty. The oxtail and cow foot were great texture, perfectly cooked with just a bit of "pull" for the bite. The whole fish was bland and left little to be desired. They have plenty of seating for dining in and there is no actual waitress per say so you seat yourself and someone will take your order just make sure to let them know you eating in. The decor and ambiance is relaxing and calming as well as clean so i was digging it like a shovel (Insert Thumbs Up Emoji Here). The staff was real cool and friendly. Eric's daughter was very funny and down to Earth. Eric makes his own Jerk Sauce I am telling you this dude is the Jamaican truth LOL My rule is I will never eat somewhere for the fist time via take out or delivery because you cannot judge the quality of the food fairly that way. I advised you guys to eat in the first time you go to really enjoy the flavors and quality of the cuisine. Parking is street metered from 7am to 7pm for up to 2 hours. Listen as for the food Holy Sweet Baby Jesus !!! The Brown Stew Chicken was tender and well season and rice and peas flawless. Curry Goat and Jerk Chicken just perfection. I cant even put in words how good this food is. Two words to best describe the food that consistently popped in my mind were "Authentic" and "Fresh" You can tell that food is made to order. The Mannish Water for true Jamaican grub specialists and lovers is a must try. I will make slap you pastor it taste so good. To avoid getting a ticket or having to deal with metered parking I suggest arriving like 6:45pm since you dont have to pay metered parking after 7PM 3. Mannish Water is only served on Fridays and they run out pretty quickly so call ahead for that particular order. Callaloo takes about 30 minutes to prep keep that in mind when ordering and is only served on Saturday's also recommend calling ahead for this to confirm it is being served. 4.
