Once I got there after Smog Check, he gives me a bill for $83 tells me this is the price now that's called bait and switch, every business owner should be transparent not unethical, unacceptable and unprofessional will never step a foot in this location! Quick Notes to get the point: 1. I didn't know that I would fail the smog check if the engine lights are on on my car. CA regulation states that any illuminated malfunction will result in a smog check failure. Found out through my honest mechanic at a different shop, and through AI research in the photo attached. 2. They told me "engine light is on, but I could see what's going on", knowing full well that the test would fail. Then they go ahead and charge you full amount by saying that we only charge you $20 for the next check. 3. When confronted with their unethical practice of not letting the customer know that the test would fail, their default is "we're just doing our job, we told you the lights were on." If the smog test will fail, why would anyone pay money to get a test done? And after taking the customers money, you charge them an extra $20? In addition, they won't tell you the fine print is that it has to be within 30 days for the $20 otherwise they charge full price. If it takes you longer than 30 days, to find time in your schedule, get your car to a repair shop, and find time again to get the smog test done within 30 days, you will get charged full price. To me, this is as close as it gets to stealing money legally. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When confronted with this unethical practice, the manager's response was, don't complain to us. Call the state and complain to them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The problem isn't that you're not doing your job. The problem is that you're misleading customers by wasting their money for a test that is guaranteed to fail. You can't just say "the engine lights are on, I can see what's going on", charge me full price, and then later on say "I told you the engine lights were on". Is it illegal? Maybe not. Is it unethical and deserving of a 1 star? Absolutely. My car absolutely had problem lights on when I went into the shop. These guys obviously knew that the test would fail. They will feign ignorance and put up all kinds of smokescreens when confronted with their unethical practice. There are a lot of businesses that get away with unethical practice and have great ratings on yelp because these problem instances happen infrequently. If it did happen, people will just get taken advantage and not even know it. It takes a rare combination of events that comes together for unethical businesses to be exposed. But when they do get exposed, it invalidates their entire reputation. If they got caught in this one instance, highly probable that this has happened more than once. If you look at the other 1 star reviews on this business, you will get a fuller picture. The response to this review by George is an outrageous lie. They have never talked anything about repairing the car before the check despite all the engines lights showing. Again, there is no reason to waste money on the smog test when it is guaranteed to fail. The response by George makes no logical sense and actually strengthens my point of their dishonest practices. It was only AFTER the check was done that they suggested using an emissions systems cleaner, driving it around and reassuring me that it would only be $20 the next time I cam in (conveniently leaving out the 30 day window). By the time I am done purchasing the cleaner and drive around until the gas is empty so that it cleans thoroughly it is well past the deadline ensuring that I pay full price next time I come in. Maybe in the future you can mention "repair" somewhere in a sentence and then guide the client to doing a test anyways so that you can say what you just said... Is that what you did? read more

Luckily they were open today on a federal holiday, Juneteenth. This is my go to local business. I have been a customer forever. They are friendly and service is #1. They truly appreciate their customers. Fair pricing and can answer basic DMV questions. I always leave very happy with my service. Turns out they found a leak in my fuel line ao I failed my smog today. I'm so grateful they caught it. George, the owner/manager was very clear on what I needed to do so. He explained how dangerous ot is to be driving with this leak and gave me the info I needed so I can come back and retest. I came in recently to do some required smog testing and had a easy experience. I was helped by Sarkis both times who was kind, helpful and informed me of things as needed even with the issue I ran into. The business is located on the corner of Victory and Lindley next to a mechanics shop. There are a couple parking spots in front of the shop. The room where you can wait in is nicely sized with air conditioning, drinks they provide and a TV. I didn't have to wait long at all even with other customers ahead of me. It was seamless and nice experience. I was in and out in an appropriate time with great quality service and they also send over the results to the DMV. Awesome! The price was fair and comparable to others I have seen. At this time of the review about $56+ and a charge of $8+ for the certificate. This was the most efficient smog test I've ever had. I came in a little after noon. There was one car being smogged when I got there. I sat down in the nice clean waiting room. They have a refrigerator filled with water and sodas for their customers. By the time I got comfortable watching 80's rock videos on their TV, my car was smogged and ready to go about 15-20 minutes later. The results were sent to the DMV electronically. Perfect! read more

I am so sad that I have to do this review, but my previous experience here has changed and an updated review is needed. I came for my smog test and I failed. It was really weird because my car recently had an oil change and everything should've been okay with my smog test that. Also, what was weird was the past times I've been here it was an older gentleman who would help me and this time it was someone younger. Apparently the oil in my car was burning and there was dark smoke coming out of the exhaust...? However there was no smoke. He suggested I take my car to my mechanic to have my issue resolved and to come back to retake my test. My mechanic said there was no dark smoke coming out of the exhaust when the car was revved and he said to take it to another place to get my smog checked and I passed. Sadly, I will not be coming here again. read more
