Jack has been in business since the 1980s and at this location for the last 10 years, and you can tell he knows his stuff. He was friendly, funny, and easy to talk to. Yelp sent my request to five smog shops, and Jack was the first to respond and had the best pricing. He even took the time to explain what a "Star certified smog" meant when another shop said they weren't. Quick, stress-free, and great customer service. So as I pick up my registration mail, so I can log online and pay on the dmv website, I realize I needed a smog check. I was searching for a spot nearby that would get me in and out fairly quickly. I used the Yelp search engine and Jack was one of the first people to respond. His prices were also pretty affordable and he was flexible. I asked to come in on a Saturday which he agreed to but I later needed to come in on Friday instead. It wasn't an issue at all. I drove over during a late lunch break and I was met with warmness and a lot of humor. Jack was very friendly, personable and while he was helping another customer, he let me know I could wait in the office and he would be with me shortly. The service took maybe 5-7 minutes and I was out of there in 10-15mins. As Jack was handing me my paperwork, he mentioned that the smog certification was already on its way to the DMV. He could have easily charged me for unnecessary work, but instead, he gave me the correct guidance--and didn't charge me a thing. If you have your DMV renewal slip with you, that makes it easier as he can just scan the bar code so that your certificate gets sent electronically to the DMV so they can send you your tags. Every time I've been here, I never had to wait as it's not crowded at all. Could just be my luck. The owner doesn't talk very much, he just gets in there and starts working on the car. Usually takes about 10-15 minutes for the whole process. They accept all credit cards except for Amex. I have a Sequoia and it cost $60. I was here back in 2023 and it was $50. Inflation I guess. It's a clean shop with plenty of chairs to wait it out.
