Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. But WOW does poor service leave a bad taste in your mouth. The website states "late check-out is available upon request"... but DO NOT bother requesting. Because as the manager and other front desk agent said and I quote "absolutely no exceptions". Being that check out is at 10AM, an hour earlier compared to the other hotels in the area, I didn't think this would be this much of an issue. However, the amount of attitude and insolence that was received upon asking this question was downright uncalled for. I nicely asked and received a no. Knowing that nothing is for free in life, I even offered to pay a fee or a half-days-rate as I felt that would be fair... but was given a snippy "no" and essentially scolded. Having been educated and having years of experience in hospitality, I was utterly disgusted and ashamed by the treatment from the staff. I visit Oswego, NY frequently, as well as several friends. I'll be sure to make them aware of how they will be condescendingly treated upon choosing this establishment.

Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. Only $20 - 60, but a win is a win. If you are intimidated by the tables, they have automatic craps and roulette games. The roulette is pretty dated and could really should be updated. Mostly because the interface is kinda a pain, but it still works. The staff is super friendly and are happy to answer any dumb questions i have. Customer service is top notch. The cleaning crew is really on top of things. The main floor, bathrooms, dining areas are all spotless. The thing that really stands out about this place is that the people seem happy. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and welcomed my highly trained service dog. She helped me find a room on the first floor near an exit, so he could do his business easily. The room was clean and smelled good unlike some hotels. Also, the furniture and decor were modern. I noticed they had a seasonal outdoor pool, which is always a welcome treat and preferred, because who wants to go swimming inside without sun and reeking of chlorine? Lastly, the continental breakfast the next morning was the best I've ever had! Seriously-- They had made-to-order Belgian waffles, mini omelettes with onions and bell peppers, sausage patties, bacon, cheddar and Swiss cheese, bagels, cereal options, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. I made a few trips to the buffet and grabbed some sausage for the road for my dog. I appreciated that there was an attendant at the breakfast station keeping everything both clean and well-stocked. If I'm ever in the area again, I most definitely will be back!
