I highly recommend everyone to get multiple consultations before going to Erik Swanson Orthodontist- this is where I made a costly mistake. - Swanson's treatment/out of pocket cost is outrageously overpriced compared to other Orthodontist. What's worst is the treatment plan does not justify the premium charged. For a 6-8 mos upper and 12 mos lower Invisaline treatment, the total treatment cost for us was $7,283. The catch... you don't get to find out what the treatment plan is until you fork out $500 and if you don't agree with the proposed treatment, you are shit out of luck because this is non-refundable. I had to pay this full amount w/o the finance team submitting a claim. - During the consultation, I found out the shortcut treatment was to file or shave down eight teeth on the bottom row to accommodate space for one crowded tooth. Just think how much filing has to be done, compromising the integrity/health of each tooth that needs shaving. He doesn't address that my daughter's lower jaw is still moving so starting the treatment may result in future corrections. He doesn't address the upper jaw being more narrow than lower and how it impacts the bit down. - We've had three other consultations and all their treatments for both lower and upper were 24 to 30 months with braces/top expanders, no filing or shaving and all were $3,000 less from Swanson's quoted total treatment cost. One Orthodontist suggested to wait until the lower jaw fully grows to start treatment so there's no future misalignment or need for correction. - This irresponsible and lazy practice combined with the price gauging made me look into Swanson Orthodontics. My insurance company notified me that they were no longer in the network. I've been requesting for a refund of the $500 and have been denied by their office. - Swanson is a coward and hides behind his desk. Even though he's the owner of this business, he will not address ongoing financial issues. During visits, he only shows up for five minutes and rushes off to the next patient. Swanson opened a second office and they treat you like you're just a number. There's a high turnover in staff. Greed and unethical- how do you sleep at night. - It's a headache because now I have to gather documentation and file a case of grievance with my insurance company to fight for my $500 refund. It's sad that Swanson Orthodontics has two offices, but risk his reputation and future businesses over $500. PLEASE save yourself time and money- find a better Orthodontist for you and your family. read more

Dr. Swanson leads a wonderful practice! His team are friendly and efficient, making office visits seamless. His team submit insurance for you, and the follow-up communication is also excellent. I had a gap that developed from nightly jaw-clenching. Because it was inconvenient (and potentially not sanitary for me to handle my Invisalign) during the day, I actually wore mine evenings only for longer amount of time. I greatly appreciate that Dr. Swanson opens his office on some holidays so that patients who don't have PTO or kids who don't want absences can make an appointment. I recently completed my 24-month-long Invisalign treatment. It was a relatively simple process. On my first visit, we chatted about my options; I quickly chose Invisalign, Vanessa took my 3D scans, and Diana took headshot pictures. On my second visit, Diana installed the brackets on my teeth and sent me home with a few months worth of the Invisalign plastics. Diana occasionally checked in on me, answered my questions when I had them, and installed my permanent retainers when I completed the treatment. I had to wear the plastics for at least 20 hours a day, take them off to eat or drink anything other than water, brush my teeth before putting them back on (carry a toothbrush in my purse), and (I) had to switch them out with new ones weekly. Thank you, Diana and Vanessa, for always getting me in and out quickly (I drove to Los Gatos from Monterey County) and greeting me with warm vibes. I now have better brushing habits and straighter teeth because of Invisalign, Dr. Swanson, and his team. read more

Adding back a star, as my disappointing results are honestly most likely just bad luck with my teeth, rather than any poor decisions by this office that would impact your treatment if you choose to go here. After I was disappointed with night guard causing my teeth to shift back, Erik Swanson was nice enough to see me another time after treatment, and gave sensible, pragmatic advice on options going forward. (I went to a second local orthodontist for a second opinion, and the other guy made much less sense than Erik.) Although my night guard caused my teeth to shift back, pretty much every dentist and orthodontist seems surprised by this, so I don't think the bad experience was anyone's direct fault. Still disappointing, and I wish I had advocated harder and sooner rather than waiting passively while things got worse. read more

My kid started seeing Dr.Swanson about 2 years ago. From the initial consultation to every appointment afterwards, we were treated with upmost care and respect and my kid actually looks forward to come in for the next appointment. We especially love Tiffany! She's so kind and patient with my kid, always brushing her teeth clean and giving her a pet talk about cleaning her own teeth and how hard it is for parents to raise children and reminding my kid to listen and respect her parents. We just love Tiffany's warm and welcoming energy and her positive attitude. After about 18 months of treatment, my kid is finally going to have her braces taken out on her next appointment, everyone in the office celebrated and even rang a cowbell. On two occasions she came into the office on the weekend to help me out with a dental issue that came up. While I have no complaints with Dr. Swanson and the work he has done on my son's teeth, I have been extremely frustrated and disappointed with the front office staff. You are never able to speak to anyone in person. When trying to reschedule appointments, someone will start texting and then never text back, and then I have to go through the whole process again with a different staff member. Would be much simpler and quicker for someone to pick up the phone and resolve these issues in person. These issues have been ongoing since we started our orthodontic treatment at this practice. It should not be this difficult! Once my son's orthodontic work is complete, I do not plan to visit this practice again. I require to get some work done on myself but will look elsewhere as just not worth the frustration. To be clear, I have also called several times before 2 p.m. and within the specified office hours and no-one will ever answer the phone! read more

The orthodontist is fine. The front office staff is terrible. I was running late due to traffic, called to see if that was okay. All they said was, okay, we'll make a note of that. I drive there only to be told we have to reschedule. Did I need to drive all the way there for that? I called to be respectful of their time, before my appointment started. It would be nice if they reciprocated that respect, but apparently they are either too lazy to check the schedule, or just don't care. I am just starting out on my Invisalign journey. I wanted to give a shout out to two individuals who went above and beyond. My initial visit for Dr. Swanson's assessment went very well, the staff and Dr. are very warm and welcoming. I chose to go with Invisalign, to fix a bite problem. When I went back about 5 weeks later to pick up the aligners and check the fit, I was made aware of the use of "smart force" attachments that adhere to your teeth to aid in the movement of the teeth while using the aligners, as they were being installed. For some reason that was not discussed in detail at the first visit, or I didn't pick up on that if I was told, and so I was caught by surprise....and honestly was pretty horrified when I saw them. There were bumps on my teeth and when shown to me in the mirror, I actually started crying, because they were so unexpected and so obvious to me. I actually considered just stopping at that point and having them removed and leaving. We decided to take 5 minutes to myself to make a decision. Jamal, who was actually not working with me, but was nearby, saw me looking in the mirror with tears running down my face and came over and listened to my concerns with complete empathy. He did not try to change my mind, but rather listened, offered his thoughts and shared his experience with braces and gave me gentle encouragement to give it a try. He is the reason I am wearing Invisalign today. Alba followed up with me as well, and we all decided I would try it for a week and we actually made an appointment for their removal one week later. Shortly after, I got a postcard from Alba and Jamal with some additional encouragement. I canceled the appointment and continue on the Invisalign journey. I can't say that I love the attachments, I am still a bit self-conscious with them, but the aligners themselves are definitely doable. I am now looking forward to getting my bite back!!! There once was a young lad who diligently went through orthodontic treatment but rebelled against society by not wearing his retainers. Fast forward almost 40 years and I felt it was time to make amends to the dental gods and find someone who could make the necessary adjustments to my upper and lower teeth. I found Dr. Swanson through his stellar Yelp reviews, the office is in a very convenient location with plenty of parking, very clean and modern and the staff is professional with a tinge of humor to make you comfortable as you go through various x-rays to determine the best course of action. Following the x-rays Dr. Swanson spent a good amount of time reviewing my beautiful skull x-rays and quickly ascertained that I am a snorer and that my teeth were slightly out of alignment but I really would be fine to forego orthodontic treatment. I was insistent that I would like to push forward with a quick invisalign treatment followed by wearing a retainer. Dr. Swanson attended Harvard dental school (check out the ratings, one of the best in the country), is hip, a dad and is not a pushy sales type orthodontist. Dr. Swanson and his staff are amazing! I'll do my usual review format but it's hard to be unbiased once you get great results. (+1) The office is always clean, parking is easy, and there's even wifi. (Although I rarely needed it since I never had to wait more than 5 mins before being seen) (+1) The staff are incredible. They are super nice, knowledgable, excellent communicators and it honestly feels like they care. Each visit felt very personable and perfectly timed. (+1) Dr. Swanson has an amazing straight forward attitude. He doesn't baby patients and is clearly an expert at what he does. I felt confident in his ability to fix my smile to the best it could be.
