A great family weekend! Pine Lake RV Resort and Cottages was refreshingly surprising. I would give…read moreit a strong 4.5 stars due to a few minor glitches, but because they didn't spoil the fun, I am giving it a 5. The cabins were immaculate. The one-bedroom was roomy, had a pull-out couch, and came fully appointed with pots, pans, dishes, paper towels, toilet paper, and toiletries. The cabins outside of the pet-friendly area also have linens included. Our group rented a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, and each site came with a fire pit that was perfect for making s'mores.
There is plenty to do here. You can relax at your campsite, go fishing in the lake, or participate in a plethora of activities like cornhole, pickleball, basketball, arts and crafts, swimming in the pool, renting a kayak, or playing pool. The kids' absolute favorite was the watermelon contest! There is also a fitness room, which is great to have if the weather isn't ideal for walking. For a caution to families, I felt the ice cream and coffee shop was a bit overpriced, especially if you have a large family. It also didn't open early enough for morning coffee. However, you can easily avoid those extra costs by cooking at your site, bringing ingredients for your own coffee drinks, and picking up a carton of ice cream at a local store.
On the plus side, the taco and potato bar was better than expected with lots of options, and the $15 per person price tag seemed reasonable. There was plenty of comfortable seating around the green. The camp store also had a good selection, including worms for fishing.
It is interesting that the campground is not far from I-84, because when you are there, it feels like you are deep in the woods and far from civilization. I hope we can return for another family weekend in the future!
