I didn't bring a bike in or buy a bike, but my jogging stroller broke and the only parts I could find to fix it online were bike parts, so I decided to give them a try instead of waiting a week for the parts to arrive. I took a nut and safety washer in to see if they had parts for purchase. The gentleman went in the back, brought me a safety washer and spent time with two other guys searching for a locking nut that matched the one I had. They spent about 8 minutes huddled back there searching. He came back and was so apologetic about not being able to find one to GIVE me. They didn't charge me for the part they did give me and were going to give me the other for free too. Now, these are tiny parts and don't expect this obviously.. but the fact that these guys went above and beyond for something so small was amazing and the best customer service I've had anywhere in a long time. If I didn't have babies and I did ride, I'd be buying my bike and bringing my bike in to this place for service. Thanks guys. read more

I have a bad history with Erik's. They have done me wrong in the past, but my father in law gave my kids bikes from there and you get money back for trading in as the kid outgrows the bike. Which is a cool program and locked me in with them until now. Youngest kid is now ready for an adult-sized bike. I have had bad experiences with other locations so I thought I would try this one out. The guy who sold us the bike was great. Friendly, courteous. The bike was for my son and the staff person was kind and patient with him. We walked out and my son even commented on what a great experience it was. The staff person who was there the next day when I came to pick up the bike ruined that. He was abrupt in his demeanor, seemed to enjoy making me jump through hoops, and didn't offer to help even to just hold the door open while I walked out with the bike I just bought and watched me struggle with the door. I was looking for a 2XU wetsuit online and they had the best price on their website. Since I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, I've never heard of Erik's bike shop. I'm only giving it 4 stars since they don't seem to have someone answering the phones, not a secure feeling when you order from someplace for the 1st time. But when I did get a call back, the person was pleasant and very helpful. I was told the wetsuit was being sent from one of their stores to the their warehouse. The wetsuit was packed well and was brand new as expected. I've attached photos. I would buy there again if I found another deal. read more

I ordered from Erik's to support small biz during the pandemic, but while they took my payment, they didn't deliver the product for 3 weeks and provided no updates in that time. Then, when I began inquiring, they told me it was out of stock. Since then, I've been trying to get alt product or refund--no luck on either. Another week has passed, and I am only getting get slow, vague responses. They won't answer phone, return messages, or respond to emails. Only will respond to chat messages through web site, usually a full day later. read more

Today I tried to buy a bike from them, the closest one in stock was in Kansas. They wanted to charge me $100 dollars to ship it. The bike cost $649. Never again. I found a great deal on a 2018 Specialized diverge with a 50% discount, made the purchase for $4800.. my credit card was billed and I called they next day to confirm and was told my purchase was complete and would be delivered soon. 4 days later I was told the bike is not available anymore and it was on layaway by an Erik's employee?? Really an employee of Eriks took my purchase... I asked for a 50% discount on another non current bike and was told that is not possible. I cant believe this customer service. Well, Erik's has now turned into the dominant bike-shop-chain in the Twin Cities. I remember first getting to MPLS and thinking the one in Dinkytown was the only one (maybe it was at the time). Anyway. Seeing as how I bought my first bike here (with my own money), I will always have a soft spot for them! Now generally, Erik's seems moderately to above moderately priced. If you know what you want/need, check ebay first. However, if you are new to the biking scene, or even one of it's many facets, the staff can be extremely helpful! I recently entered this store with a list of things to buy. However, I didn't know whether to buy the 'Brooks Brothers' version, or the 'Old Navy' version. The staff helped me decide on the 'Gap' version, because if fit my needs best. They never tried to up-sell me. They have a good selection of many different styles of bikes, apparel and accessories. Like I said at first. It is the dominant bike-shop-chain. You know what you are going to get. This one is also helpful (and has a discount if you are biking the MS 150)! Poor customer service. I don't like to give negative reviews but my son and I waited outside for 30 minutes without any acknowledgement whatsoever from staff. Terrible bike repair service! Brought in my Stromer and they put the wrong part in. Couldn't figure it out why shifting doesn't work after hours standing there, finally I brought the the bike to Freewheel Bicycle where they immediately diagnosed the problem--too big a bottom bracket--the wrong part was ordered. I've called Ericks 4 times since to try to get them to order the correct part. Now, a new service manager calls and says I need to bring it in again so he can "see for himself"! How incompetent can you get? This isn't the first time I've had problems with their service either. Stay away! read more

I brought my bike in for service because it wasn't shifting gears properly. They were great to me! I felt like I was treated great, and the price was lower than I had anticipated. I had been shopping around for a new bike, and had stopped in to look at their selection. The rep greeted me and told me I should bring the bike in to have it looked at. I was visiting town from California and needed help disassembling my road bike and packing it up for a plane flight home. I googled bike shops and found Erik's. I ended up visiting their distribution office (off Penn Ave) at 5:30pm on a Friday. I believe his name was Jeff, answered the door. He told me that this wasn't a retail office, but he'd be glad to try and help me. He went and found to the tools to remove my pedals, found me a bike box to use to pack up the bike and even came out to my car and removed the pedals for me. I call this service! If I ever need anything in Minneapolis, Erik's bike shop will be my first stop! read more

I recently began shopping for my first bike since high school (I am 45 years old). After doing a lot of online research on bicycles and visiting a few bike shops I stopped by Erik's in Bloomington. They were very helpful and patient with me, explaining the different styles of bikes and asking me questions to help me be sure I made the right choice. After special ordering two bikes for me to choose from, I changed my mind again. They brought in another bike from a different location - and were glad to do it. I ordered a child bike trailer from their webstore. The item came missing two crucial pieces, including the hitch that attaches it to the bike, which means we can't use it. The trailer also appeared to be slightly used - some wear on the tires, and also the missing pieces. Eriks bike shop in bloomington is a clean, reliable and welcoming to non-hardcore-bikers. That being said, the labor is overpriced and the amount of actual parts is extremely lacking. They provide complete bikes ready to ride, which is good if you have the money and desire to START biking. They will expertly fit you to match with the perfect ride. I went to upgrade my wheelset only to find they had two sets in stock, one 1500$ one 1700$ ouch. The staff is friendly and helpful. An upside to Eriks is they aren't going to give you the bike snob-ness you will most likely find in uptown. 5 stars if you are beginning biking with extra cash 2 stars if you are an advanced biker looking to maintain your ride while in college. I was hoping Eriks in Bloomongton, would become my lbs because of how close it is to my house. Unfortunately, my experiences here have been lousy. Had a tuneup here, chaincontinued to slip and mech said it was the way I was shifting...yea right. I've been bilking for a long, long time and none of my bikes have had issue with my improper shifting ;). Needless to say I walked out vowing never to go back. Ordered a pair of snowboard bindings only to find out that something went wrong with their ordering software. I emailed to check on the status after seeing the error, they hadn't bothered to contact me. They were out of the model (closeout) I wanted by the time I received an answer (they were the only store that still had them). I suggested maybe a reduced price on a current model where I ended up paying more in total and all they said was sorry. I totally understand software issues and lack of inventory, but their customer service could be a lot better. It was their system that created the error that lost me the bindings, they should have tried a little harder to make things right and to keep my business. read more

Ordered an Assos baselayer on line 1/8 paid with Pay Pal...on 1/14, I live in Seattle. I received a cryptic note from Eriks on line that the order was held up pending approval. I called shop and informed them that PP had sent me a fund approval on 1/8. Rep looked up order and verified, yes indeed, the payment was received. Rep said he would expedite shipping baselayer to me. Its 1/22 and I still DO NOT have the baselayer! I called the store on 1/19 and spoke to a manager who apologised and provided a partial refund for their screw up. USPS offers priority 2 day shipment that is very inexpensive...The postal tracking shows the shirt left MN on 1/17...as of today the location of item is in KS City ...I don't know how on earth it can take 5 days to only travel such a short distance! Overall terrible shopping experience and customer service. Will never do business with them again...EVER! read more

I purchased a new bike and a kickstand. When they installed the kickstand, they did not adjust it and so the bike was tippy. I took the bike back a few months later, and asked them to fix it, oil it, and inflate the tires as the bike was still under warranty. Not only did it take them two weeks to do something so minor, but they failed to inflate the tires. My son rode the bike home on almost flat tires. Bad service! read more
