When I first waddled into Dr. Kam's office (on a blind search for Kaiser-affiliate chiropractors), I was about 8 months pregnant and in a nauseating amount of pain. I didn't hold out much hope that anyone could fix me, but hey, when you're desperate, you're desperate.
Best.... desperation... move.... ever.
Dr. Kam has consistently been a good doctor for a little over two years now. He and Renee, his front office manager, have been cheerleading me through my health issues for quite a while. They are always understanding when I show up late for an appointment (wrangling toddlers will do that to you, sadly). They're always willing to get me in for an emergency appointment. Dr. Kam even came to the emergency room for me once to tell me that my daughter was OK and at home when I had what turned out to be a nasty attack of vertigo at his office. He and his staff have also been very accomodating in dealing with my children when I have to take them to one of my appointments. Heck, my baby boy has literally been growing up in that office!
For comparison's sake, I have been to another chiropractor for pregnancy issues, because the other doctor specialized in a special technique to turn a breech baby. The prices Dr. Kam charges are actually comparable or less per session than my other doctor. The level of competency and caring is the same. I like Dr. Kam so much that I've had both my husband and my six year old get a checkup.
Dr. Kam is very, very dedicated to health as a long-term lifestyle and firmly believes in the value of chiropractic work and general health maintenance. Sometimes that might come across as a bit pushy. However, in 2 years I have NEVER experienced from this office what another reviewer complained about. Yes, Renee is very thorough about calling if you miss an appointment. I have never, ever, gotten daily calls from this office. I have also never gotten a pushy salesman attempt at an insanely-priced package. In fact, whenever I have to start thinking about a new package, Dr. Kam seems very uncomfortable about talking about money. He's always been very consistent in telling me what I need, and giving me multiple payment options. I've always appreciated his willingness to work with my insurance and his understanding that I don't have multiple thousands of dollars to throw at my care. His packages are priced so that if you pay a lump sum, you actually save a good percentage of money. He will also take monthly payments.
The one thing I've never liked about this office is the fact that they don't take credit cards. But if you know about it in advance, you can work around that issue.
There has to be a level of trust when someone has your head in his hands and there's abrupt movement going on. Dr. Kam is knowledgeable and very, very dedicated to getting someone well. I'll keep going back to him for as long as I need to. read more
