Do not recommend!! I brought in an 18k gold necklace to be shortened and for a bracelet to be made out of the leftover chain from the necklace. I paid $115 for 14k gold, but after a few days, the gold started to come off on the new pieces. While I had been assured that I would be provided 14k gold, they clearly gave me gold plated jewelry. I went back to ask them to fix it with 14k instead of gold plated (because that's what I had paid for) and they say they would, but I don't feel like I can trust them so who knows what they did to my jewelry! Also, the necklace was too short and instead of them fixing it by adding chain, they provided me with a gold plated extender and told me to deal with it. When I picked up the bracelet for the second time, it broke within 5 minutes of me putting it on. Luis, Ernesto work here and I do not recommend either of them!! They are not honest. read more

I received a call on the phone earlier today from Ernesto's saying that my pieces were done early. They used the word "rushed" on the phone so at first, I was worried, but when I looked at my pieces I was more than happy with the results. My penguin necklace had gotten its "charm" back. My dolphin ring looks more beautiful than I ever thought it would and I love the replacement stones on my bracelet. These pieces mean more to me than I could say and I couldn't possibly be happier. There's a lot of sentimental value with these pieces, and they are irreplaceable. I am grateful to Ernesto's for their help with maintenance. I didn't know what to expect, but I was speechless when I saw how beautiful my pieces were when I came to pick them up. I also had a great conversation with the employees at the store. I dropped off a watch for a repair with Ernesto last week, and I received a call from him to come in yesterday "anytime before 5 PM" to pick up my watch. I made the trek all the way to the Upper West Side from New Jersey to go get it. When I showed up, Ernesto told me to wait a few minutes and it would be ready. 20 minutes later, he came out and told me that the watch was not ready and I would need to come back. I ended up coming back the next day for my watch and paying $60 for the repair. I was not offered anything from Ernesto for his lack of professionalism and the inconvenience that he caused me. read more

I have been having work done at Ernesto's over the past decade and always have a good outcome. They have on more than one occasion made exact replicas of lost earrings (impressive!), cleaned watches, and repaired treasured pieces. The service is always pleasant and professional. The only issue is that sometimes the wait is longer than I would like because they are behind (perhaps shortstaffed) - but I also know they are a very busy practice with a lot of work to keep up with. read more

Prefect experience. I got 3 rings resized here and paid about $350. They were all quite small to begin with, each being about a size 4 or 5 and I got them each to be either a size 9 or 10 depending on which finger I was gonna wear them on, so it a reasonable price I think. They fit perfectly now and I'm very happy with the quality! They said it would take about two weeks and after about a week and a half I got a call saying they were ready for pick up. I took in a gold chain to have the loop on the end changed to a smaller loop that would go through the bail of a pendant I have. He said it would cost $40 to remove the current loop and solder a smaller loop on the end. He was also going to change the clasp at the other end. When I picked it up after a week, he wasn't there. When I got home I saw that the clasp had been changed, but nothing had been done to solder a smaller loop on the other end. I had to go back the next day to request that the work I had paid $40 for actually be done. He wouldn't do it, and took the chain and smashed the loop into an oval to go thru the bail in the pendant. He would not give me any money back, after charging me for work he didn't do. Don't trust him. read more

I've had a watch battery replaced (so quick, easy, and reasonably priced) and a bracelet repaired (a link near the clasp had come off and I lost it, and they easily put in a replacement link and repaired the clasp for me -- in less than 5 minutes. I bought a pair of 14 kt gold sand dollar post earrings that are beautiful and very well priced. This place is great! I went to have my boyfriend's watch battery replaced, as the place in my neighborhood had done a terrible job on it previously (expensive, broke the pin on the watch, and the battery ran out in a couple of months). The folks at Ernesto's were pleasant and quick and reasonably priced and I felt good about the service. I went back about a month later when he had dropped the watch and it was stopping and starting in an odd way - they found that the battery had been knocked out of place and put it back in without charging me anything. Very helpful with suggesting what options might be necessary on a piece without being pushy or up-selling. I travel cross-town just for these guys because I feel I can trust the work they're doing. Lots of folks in the shop getting things cleaned/repaired/adjusted whenever I go. I wasn't blaming them for the problem (just trying to assess what happened and what to do next), so the defensiveness seemed unfair and unusual. I stumbled upon Ernesto's one day on my way home. I was in the market for a wedding band similar to the Tiffany Metro band. They had a variety of similar items, but nothing exactly what I wanted. The owner ( and his I guess son) were incredibly friendly and helpful when I explained the ring. I brought up the image on my iphone and they assured me they could match the ring. The best part was the price. I picked up the band today and I was in SHOCK, the ring was perfect! They created a half moon (1/2 way around) 18 k gold version of the ring with diamonds for $600!! I don't have one complaint for Ernesto's. They were great! I spent about two days reading reviews for jewelry repair shops and finally decided on Ernesto's. It's close to home, and the reviews did not lie! I needed to get a watch repaired and cleaned. I also needed to get earrings repaired. When I arrived, there was another customer ahead of me, but they got to me fairly quickly. The woman fixed my earrings on the spot, which was awesome. The watch took a couple of days to get repaired/cleaned, but it looked amazing when I picked it up. It was fairly inexpensive considering what I needed done.
