I have this really nice Citizen watch. I needed a new leather band (Originally I rated this place 5 Stars). I bought what I thought was a genuine leather band. But the leather is flaking off - seriously (see attached picture). So I'm correctly assuming my new band was not, in fact, genuine leather. After all, it's disintegrating only after a few short months of wearing it. My last genuine leather band lasted me 6 years and it never flaked. I'd much rather spend a few dollars more for a real leather band that's going to last me. BEWARE AND CAUTION to the unsuspecting buyer. Total scam - ignore the 5* ratings, they're not legit. Came in to get a new leather strap for my watch - figured it was better to give business to the tiny shop in my neighbourhood instead of amazon. Price ($20) was a ripoff to begin with, the the band promptly snapped within 30 minutes. Brought it back, they put on a new one, that also snapped within a couple of days. Refused to give a refund, or repair their shoddy handiwork. Stay away! read more

Don't be fooled by all the 5-star reviews -- looks like they're all either fake, or the owner's friends wrote them. Should've known better than to go to a "watch repair" place that's the dingy back room of a barbershop, but alas, impatience got the better of me and I didn't feel like waiting until other shops were open tomorrow to replace my watch battery. Also, hole-in-the-wall places can be great, but apparently not this one. The watch repair guy will charge you $12 for scratching your watch and lie and tell you you never spoke to anyone on the phone beforehand. And his co-owner (?) will mutter a bunch of incomprehensible gibberish and tell you "this isn't China!" Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh. I'm getting a wrench so I don't have to deal with places like this from now on. Totally recommend this place for the strap adjustment. Well-priced & fast. I used to go to the one in midtown for watch repair/adjustment but I wasn't happy about price& long wait time. Now I'm glad that I found this place. I will come back for the battery replacement for sure! It's a barber shop too but they do watch stuff. read more

Very important: this watch repair store is the same as Alex's Barber shop. Isaac was very helpful in helping me find a new band for my watch and put it on my watch. He even adjusted the 20mm band and made it work for my 22mm banded watch. The service was prompt and my watch works great. I just took two of my bulova watches to upperwest side watch repair. My man was able to change the batteries, replace the front glass, and change the bands into a leather strap. He was quick with changing the batteries and the replacing the leather band. His price range was cheap. And very easy to approach. I recommend people to visit this man you won't regret it. Don't walk. Run away from this place as fast as your two feet will carry you. First off I agree 100% with Megan G. that the high reviews must be either fake and/or friends. This place is first and foremost a barber shop. And that's it! From the moment I walked in I had a bad feeling. But hey, maybe Megan was wrong. I asked the first barber chair about watches and he pointed to the back where there was a door. I walked through the door thinking I'll come upon the "watch" part of the business but it was a dead end. Turning around I asked the last barber chair about watches and he asked what I wanted. I told him I wanted a watch band and he asked me what size. What size? Hey, it's that your job to correctly measure to determine the right size? At that exact moment I knew I wouldn't let that guy touch my beautiful watch. The guy pulled out a folder with band selections and then when back to cutting the guy's hair who was sitting in his chair. No comment. When I told the guy I didn't see anything I liked, he told me in a very rude and dismissive tone "then go to the diamond district!" Yes, go to the diamond district. Yes, go anywhere else to any professional who specializes in watch repairs, battery and band replacements, etc. I promise your watch will thank you. read more
