This restaurant on the corner of the square in Denton offers a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere and good food. We had not been here before but were in the area and decided to drop in. It was midafternoon, but the lunch menu was still in effect, although it was not given to us by the hostess. Our server suggested it and he ws right to do so because the prices are much better. My wife and I each ended up doing a three taco/enchilada plate combo for $14.00. Not huge tacos or enchiladas, but good size for the price. My choices were cheese enchilada (good), chicken enchilada (really packed full of excellent shredded chicken with an outstanding sauce, and shrimp taco (by far the highlight, full of flavor and plenty of shrimp). My wife selected shirt rib enchilada (excellent flavor and lean meat), shrimp taco, and chicken taco (the same well-seasoned shredded chicken as my enchilada). Both meals came with rice and beans. We also had a side of queso which was good but not special. I thought the chips that came with the meal along with the salsa were very high quality. They also came with an outstanding warm mole that really stood out. In the world of Tex-Mex everything was above average from ambiance, décor, service and food. I also had a Union Bear Mexican Lager (bottled but poured into a chilled glass, and my wife had a Frida Cuvee, a very nice drink from the menu. Would not make it a planned trip into Denton downtown to visit Mexican Oak, but would certainly go back if plans to be in the area and in the mood for Tex-Mex.

This was my first time here and I absolutely loved everything. The service was amazing, the drinks were strong and not watered down, and the food *chefs kiss* I will be back.

This is all I got a pic of. It was so good I didn't get any pics lol.

The mango margarita is very good and the chips are addictive. I'm sharing a plate with my husband .. annachera fajitas - medium rare. They were so good I forgot to take a pic. Then we had the quatros leche cake and it was divine. If you don't consume a lot , sharing a fajita plate here is the perfect amount of food. It was diving. Will be back.

The decor alone is more than enough reason to come to the Mexican Oak in Denton. But the tortillas the tortillas! They are so wonderful. Comfort food near and dear to my heart. We split the carnitas tacos. They are fantastic. Do your self a favor and get over to this wonderful delightful restaurant and enjoy some great food.

Mexican Oak is a beautiful restaurant! It is a Dia de los Muertos theme. They offer authentic Mexican food. That being said, (unlike most authentic Mexican restaurants) they do offer complimentary chips, salsa, & bean dip. Reservations are accepted, but not required. We were promptly greeted and seated. Service was friendly, professional, and attentive. Our table ordered the crudo del dia, tortillas soup, and enchiladas de short rib w/a mole type sauce. We also ordered a Tex-Mex queso, which was just a test item on their menu. If you want authentic Mexican cheese dip, they do offer queso fundido. The rice was mushy, but everything else was delicious. All of the food was nicely presented. It was Dallaa prices in Denton (read pricey for Denton). It's a great place for a date night or outing to impress.

10/10!!... everything about this experience was really nice. From service, food, ambiance, and drinks. The service was really good. I hate that I forgot the server's name (something to similar to Sydney) but she was fantastic. The food was so flavorful and came out in a timely manner. The prickly pear margarita was yum!! I already began planning the next trip back before I left.

Grabbed lunch here on a Tuesday. Nice decor indoors and service was pretty quick. I ordered the red fish and it was ok but not very flavorful. The rice and beans were good and so were the corn tortillas.

Friendly and attentive service from Tay and they were well-versed on the menu as well as flavor combos. Cool tip is that they have a rotating menu, so you might as well give them a second chance! The food was visually beautiful, but needed and extra oomph of flavor levels for this garlic lover. I love that mocktails were available. The fruity refresher (whose name I forget) was sour, sweet, and everything I needed to revive from TX heat. As a boutique restaurant on the Denton Square, the high prices made sense, but portions could've been larger. That said, the scene was welcoming to relaxed diners as well as business casual folks and date nighters. I'd like to try their desserts next time!

Janelle was amazing! She was so welcoming and helpful and took care of everything! The food was fantastic. Fajitas, bowl, salad, and brunch! Highly recommend a visit and ask for Janelle!

The overall vibe has changed, and not in a good way. There seems to be a clear tension in the space that makes it uncomfortable to be there as a customer. From what I've observed, the current manager creates a very unpleasant environment. She consistently appears angry, tense, and overly controlling, and it visibly affects the staff. The employees often look uncomfortable, uneasy, and as though they are being constantly micromanaged. It's hard not to notice, and it completely changes the energy of the place. As someone who has spent money here and genuinely liked coming in before, it's frustrating to see management have such a negative impact on what used to be a welcoming environment. A business like this depends heavily on atmosphere, and when management makes both employees and customers feel uncomfortable, it reflects directly on the entire experience. I'm honestly surprised this hasn't already driven more employees away, because it is definitely pushing customers away. I hope ownership seriously reevaluates the current management situation before it causes even more damage to the business.

It paired so well with my red wine. Fo For our main we ordered chicken spaghetti bake $17.50. It consisted of fresh house-made spaghetti baked with house roasted chicken, white cheddar cream sauce, calabrese chili peppers, italian pico, five cheese blend. Wish we had looked a litte harder on this selection. We thought it was a chicken Alfredo. So this is defintley packed with cheese, more of a Mac and cheese bake. Everything was good! This is why my rating is only based on the food quality. Brisket and Queso $10 Smoked brisket, Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, cilantro. A little too high for an appetizer, but the queso and brisket were good. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, the sweetness was a clash for me. The chips were also way too salty. The house salad $14 was an XL salad for sure! Everything was so good and fresh. They kindly brought me extra cheese and grilled jalapeños. The ranch was just right too! Downside: my patty was over-seasoned and overcooked. My partner purchased their most basic burger, the Waylon $12, the fries are sold separately. This burger was small, and once again, the patty itself was a disappointment. Texas sun cocktail was refreshing but just a simple pineapple and vodka mix.
