Our server, Paul, was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. Chips and salsa were also delivered promptly and were delicious. Spicy margaritas with Tajin rim were tasty. Camarones a la Lorena (bacon-wrapped jumbo shrimp) are a must-have! The tortilla soup was delicious, as well as the Sunset Enchiladas, Brisket Tacos, Pollo en Crema, and to top it off, Flan. Went last night and was in shock, after 40 years they had a new menu. It appears to be like the one in lake Dallas. It's missing a lot of our Angelina's favorites. The portions were even smaller on my enchiladas. You want to charge more for the same thing but call it something else but the portions are smaller? Like that's a big no to me. I was shocked. I'm not gonna lie with the ratings that this restaurant has but I was impressed with the brisket enchiladas , they were so delicious. My family was also impressed with the food. The service was fast. The food came out literally after we ordered maybe five minutes tops. The ambience was really cool. The people were welcoming and the restaurant has a view, but it's not really a big view, but it's a decent view Overall I'll be back to definitely maybe to try something different and I recommend if you want to try the brisket enchiladas do that you won't regret it! I've always wondered about this place since I frequent The Rackhouse that's located right next door. I finally gave it a try--and honestly, it was underwhelming. I had high hopes, especially based on how great it looks from the outside, but it just didn't do it for us. We sat on the patio which felt unfinished and thrown together. I ordered the Carne Asada medium-well, but it came out overcooked and dry. The rice and beans were solid, but the queso was just meh, and the "frozen" margaritas were more watered-down slush than anything else. The 3 stars are: 1st - Our waitress Bianca who was really nice and attentive 2nd - The view which would be more amazing if the patio was in better shape and decor. 3rd - is for effort, they just need to literally spice it up and fix the outside patio area. I've been going here for years and realized I never wrote a review. The best is the location and ambiance. Love the view of the lake, especially when that seating is open. Now--the refried beans and my favorite that I've found in Texas. I'm sad because I'm still trying for the taste they have in Southern California, but these are the closest. Yum! The inside is very nostalgic as it hasnt changed in probably 15+ years but the service was very mid. We did wait a long time for our check to be brought to us. The food was alright but their "brisket" is pot roast so maybe stay away from that. I got the steak quesadilla and it was fairly good for the price. We were scouring the menu looking for drinks and she just stood there and watched us. We had to ask her if there was a drink mine. She proceeded to take one out of her pocket and threw on the table. Absolutely amazing!! We experienced a disaster and horrendous customer service next door and Angelina's completely turned our entire day around. It showed me and the wedding party that everything happens for a reason! My sister had made reservations for the upstairs private room at the rackhouse next door: the manager never made the reservations. Their attitude and behavior towards us was absolutely inappropriate. Well, Angelina's saves the day!!! They quickly seated out large party, the waitress was quick to fill out cups, bring out chips and salsa. Our serve was a lady at the beginning, didn't catch her name but she was great and quickly has us seated. Luis then takes over, luis was phenomenal as well! This is my husbands go to Mexican food restaurant since he was a kid. His favorite thing to this day is the queso and the tortillas. The tortillas are made on sight, which is a plus cause they're sooo good and they queso is delicious for dipping chips and/or adding to your main dish. I've tried their ground beef chimichanga and combo fajitas, and I've been impressed with both meals. The fajita chicken is juicy and full of flavor and the beef has a great taste and not over cooked. The salsa is mild and has a good flavor. Now for the refried beans, those have a some really good flavor prob my favorite refried beans I've had at a Mexican food restaurant. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and stocked. Never a super long wait as we usually eat lunch here, not sure what dinner time is like. But definitely a place we will continue going to when we're in the area. read more

Cannot recommend Angelina's enough! And I really think you should ignore the negative reviews because they are baseless and kept me from experiencing this gem sooner. The food was delicious (highly recommend the top shelf Margarita and Angelina's Fajita nachos) we had simply outstanding service with Julian who was patient with our unruly terriers pictured below and anticipated our needs before we even realized them (bringing separate water dishes for both of our dogs, split our enchilada dinner completely without being asked or without a split charge, etc ). The salsa, pico and guac were so authentic and flavorful and we couldn't believe how affordable the prices were when we got the bill. We will be back and often, perfect detour when doing an evening stroll on the colony shoreline trail! read more

I ordered ribeye and a beef fajita taco and both were super tasty! The meat was seasoned well and super tender and juicy. I was pleasantly surprised! I got a peach margarita which was pretty standard but the upside was that it came in a pretty big size. A big plus was our sweet and helpful waitress. We were celebrating my birthday and in laws birthdays late and it was nice how we were able to get a small birthday dessert for free (sopaipilla) The only downside of the restaurant which was hard to ignore was the poor smell where we sat. It wasn't unbearable but it lingered there the whole time we were eating. It is like the old building smell and something else I can't quite describe. I couldn't stop smelling it and it took away from the pleasurable experience of eating my food. Overall it's still a good restaurant- the food is great! It has been a while since I ate at Angelina's so I decided to stop in around 2:00 on a weekday(Tuesday). I ordered my usual beef enchilada plate and I was extremely disappointed. One word to describe the food.....HORRIBLE. The ground beef did not smell fresh and all of the food was bland(no seasoning at all). The chips were stale and the salsa was watery. I ordered the food to go and if I did not live 45 minutes away I would have taken it back and requested a refund. Needless to say, I wasted my money and will not be going back. read more

Angelina's has great views, a wonderful patio and tasty Tex-Mex! The bar area is great and they have excellent, friendly bartenders. I have been going to Angelina's for about 8 years now and I think it has improved throughout the years. I am not a huge fan of the queso but it's okay. The guacamole has always been good and fresh. The chips are good and lately the salsa has been spicy and I like it!! The beef quesadillas are the best I've had anywhere!!! The tortilla soup is muy bueno as well!! Two servers stood watching the news, completely ignoring customers. While the drinks were strong, requesting more sweetener or mix led to the server blaming and gaslighting us, insisting, "That's how it's supposed to taste," despite us never receiving a menu in the first place. We have always been sat right away no matter what time or day. Food is delicious. The music they play is amazing. Patio is enclosed and cool. Def check them out. For my kids, the split the beef fajitas for one. As the portion is enough for one adult. It works out fine for two kids and I did an additional side of rice and beans. This is my absolute go to when I want Mexican food. First of all they always bring you the best chips and salsa and it's award winning make sure you ask for some to go! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu but my go to is the filet de la casa and I've probably ordered it over 50 times and it has yet to disappoint me! I drove by this place several times and finally, my coworkers and I decided to have dinner here. In my experience, everything was good! I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the tortilla soup. It was delicious. My coworkers ordered their dishes and they finished it. We cleared our plates. Their complimentary chips and salsa were authentic and delicious, partially what filled me up too. My first disappointment! Got seated with my mom in town for a day. I asked for a drink menu and the sever just named a lot of drinks. I said so you don't have a drink menu? Asked for water. She came back with a drink menu and called me momma every time she came to the table which was twice because she knew she made a mistake. She spent at least 10 minutes with one table just talking. Didn't deliver our food someone else did. My mom commented hers was cold and I said it would be a long wait to reheat a quesadilla. The service was good but WOW are the food and drinks terrible! I couldn't finish my plate or margarita, it was totally inedible. The margaritas are just tequila and sweet and sour mix (gross) and the carne asada is just a frozen piece of beef pounded paper thin. So so disappointing. There is so much restaurant competition in the area, they really need to improve on the quality of their food and drink. This is the place to go for authentic Mexican food. I've tried their steak and fish before and it is consistently good. Their food is simple and exactly what you would ask for and expect. Service was great, the waiter is fast and just knows what you want. This particular time I got pecados loco and the fish tasted very fresh as the menu description promised. The Beas and veggie mixed very well with the fish. Mexican rice also never disappoints when mixed in. I'd recommend this place anytime to anyone as it does not break the wallet either. Why...I mean...how's it this bad?! We ordered queso and margaritas. Neither were edible. The pure rumbling of our bellies forced us to eat more queso than we should have, and we will probably regret it later. How is one to describe the queso? Flavorless, bland, warm, melted cheese. Maybe I'm wrong and those adjectives are right up your alley. If so, you have found your new favorite restaurant. As for the margaritas, the spicy had no spice, but an aftertaste that had you begging for less. So much less that we left a 5/6 full margarita on the table. What a disappointment. I have been wanting to try this place so bad. Last Saturday we stopped in about 2:00 ish. We requested to sit outside. We were immediately greeted and taken to a table. Where we sat, for 30 minutes. No one came to greet us. No one offered us drinks or chips and salsa. About 20 minutes in a server walked by and said she would be with us shortly. We waited an additional 10 minutes for someone to return. No one ever did. We ended up leaving super disappointed. The food was mediocre, the bean burrito came just with black beans inside it, they put verde on it and the cilantro side and black beans on the side, needless to say it is something I do not want to eat again, flavorless.
