The lake view from the outdoor patio.

Went last night and was in shock, after 40 years they had a new menu. It appears to be like the one in lake Dallas. It's missing a lot of our Angelina's favorites. The portions were even smaller on my enchiladas. You want to charge more for the same thing but call it something else but the portions are smaller? Like that's a big no to me. I have been a faithful patron for 39 years. Please go back to the old menu. The only things good was the service, patio and the taste of the food.

    Brisket enchiladas.

I was shocked. I'm not gonna lie with the ratings that this restaurant has but I was impressed with the brisket enchiladas , they were so delicious. My family was also impressed with the food. The service was fast. The food came out literally after we ordered maybe five minutes tops. The ambience was really cool. The people were welcoming and the restaurant has a view, but it's not really a big view, but it's a decent view Overall I'll be back to definitely maybe to try something different and I recommend if you want to try the brisket enchiladas do that you won't regret it! The flautas dinner was really good as well.

    Carne Asada (overcooked)

I've always wondered about this place since I frequent The Rackhouse that's located right next door. I finally gave it a try--and honestly, it was underwhelming. I had high hopes, especially based on how great it looks from the outside, but it just didn't do it for us. We sat on the patio which felt unfinished and thrown together. I ordered the Carne Asada medium-well, but it came out overcooked and dry. The rice and beans were solid, but the queso was just meh, and the "frozen" margaritas were more watered-down slush than anything else. The 3 stars are: 1st - Our waitress Bianca who was really nice and attentive 2nd - The view which would be more amazing if the patio was in better shape and decor. 3rd - is for effort, they just need to literally spice it up and fix the outside patio area. Not the worst experience, but definitely not one I'd go out of my way to repeat.

Absolutely amazing!! We experienced a disaster and horrendous customer service next door and Angelina's completely turned our entire day around. It showed me and the wedding party that everything happens for a reason! My sister had made reservations for the upstairs private room at the rackhouse next door: the manager never made the reservations. Their attitude and behavior towards us was absolutely inappropriate. Well, Angelina's saves the day!!! They quickly seated out large party, the waitress was quick to fill out cups, bring out chips and salsa. Our serve was a lady at the beginning, didn't catch her name but she was great and quickly has us seated. Luis then takes over, luis was phenomenal as well! The food was great, the service was FAST, and we had a great great time! Saved my sisters wedding dinner. We thank you guys so so so much!!!

This is my husbands go to Mexican food restaurant since he was a kid. His favorite thing to this day is the queso and the tortillas. The tortillas are made on sight, which is a plus cause they're sooo good and they queso is delicious for dipping chips and/or adding to your main dish. I've tried their ground beef chimichanga and combo fajitas, and I've been impressed with both meals. The fajita chicken is juicy and full of flavor and the beef has a great taste and not over cooked. The salsa is mild and has a good flavor. Now for the refried beans, those have a some really good flavor prob my favorite refried beans I've had at a Mexican food restaurant. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and stocked. Never a super long wait as we usually eat lunch here, not sure what dinner time is like. But definitely a place we will continue going to when we're in the area.

Enchiladas Espinacas split so only a half portion but absolutely delicious!!!!!! More than enough for my husband and I to share!

Cannot recommend Angelina's enough! And I really think you should ignore the negative reviews because they are baseless and kept me from experiencing this gem sooner. The food was delicious (highly recommend the top shelf Margarita and Angelina's Fajita nachos) we had simply outstanding service with Julian who was patient with our unruly terriers pictured below and anticipated our needs before we even realized them (bringing separate water dishes for both of our dogs, split our enchilada dinner completely without being asked or without a split charge, etc ). The salsa, pico and guac were so authentic and flavorful and we couldn't believe how affordable the prices were when we got the bill. We will be back and often, perfect detour when doing an evening stroll on the colony shoreline trail!

    Peach margarita

I ordered ribeye and a beef fajita taco and both were super tasty! The meat was seasoned well and super tender and juicy. I was pleasantly surprised! I got a peach margarita which was pretty standard but the upside was that it came in a pretty big size. A big plus was our sweet and helpful waitress. We were celebrating my birthday and in laws birthdays late and it was nice how we were able to get a small birthday dessert for free (sopaipilla) The only downside of the restaurant which was hard to ignore was the poor smell where we sat. It wasn't unbearable but it lingered there the whole time we were eating. It is like the old building smell and something else I can't quite describe. I couldn't stop smelling it and it took away from the pleasurable experience of eating my food. Overall it's still a good restaurant- the food is great! But I just can't get over the smell when you sit inside.

    Cheers!!

Lots of flies on the patio - very greasy stuffed avocado. Mystified as to why this place is still in business.

Mediocre food. Would have given a 3 but they helped themselves to a few extra dollars beyond what I wrote for the tip so we won't be back.

The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and we were greeted warmly upon arrival. It's a great spot for large groups and celebrations. We had a party of 16, and I really appreciated that there was no automatic gratuity added. The restaurant was also very accommodating when it came to splitting the checks exactly the way we wanted, and the QR code payment option made settling the bill quick and convenient. Our server, George J., was friendly and attentive with drink refills throughout the evening. I ordered the Shrimp Brochette and a Strawberry Mocktail. The Shrimp Brochette was delicious and definitely something I'd order again. The Strawberry Mocktail was refreshing, but I wish it had a stronger strawberry flavor. I was also a little disappointed that it seemed to be the only mocktail option available. It would be great to see more non-alcoholic choices, such as virgin margaritas and other traditional mocktails. One area that could use improvement is table maintenance during the meal. Since we had a large group, empty plates accumulated on the table and remained there for quite a while. Even as our server stopped by to check on drinks, the plates weren't cleared. Eventually, I moved several of them to a nearby empty table myself. A little more attention to clearing dishes throughout the meal would have made the experience more comfortable. We also brought a Nothing Bundt Cake to share for the celebration. While paper plates were available, we ran short on serving utensils, and it would have been nice if the restaurant had been a bit more accommodating for guests celebrating special occasions with outside desserts. That said, everyone had a great time, everyone else's food looked fantastic, the prices were reasonable, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I would definitely return for another group gathering.

We normally ask for extra sunset sauce, and when we asked again this time around, we had less sauce. Don't know if the extra sauce wasn't rung up or if the quantity has been reduced. I truly hope it's not the latter, because that would be disappointing - redfish ceviche: a little too sweet for us. It's been a while, but we normally get the Havana nachos - an off the menu item.

The photos make it look very lively and fun so imagine our surprise at happy hour on a Friday walking into an entirely empty restaurant! Two couples inside and a couple guys drinking on the patio. We still decided to stay because we were hungry and the place itself is super duper nice and cute! We opted to sit at the bar where we were kindly greeted and two TVs playing football with no volume (which I love)! The barstools were very comfortable as well. Ordered two of the BEST margaritas I've ever had with the gran marnier! I now want all my margs made this way. No need for a second! For food, the enchilada verde and the taco lunch plates were pretty dang good. No complaints there and the servings were reasonable and not too much from the lunch menu. No leftovers. Really enjoyed the verde. Chips and salsa were something to write home about! Amazingly toasted and crunchy, I should have asked for a bag to go with just those chips! Very good! All in all, the staff was too kind and it happened to be my friend's birthday so I "snuck away to the restroom" and told our waiter and he surprised us with a perfect tres leches slice that was absolutely delicious! For lunch and margs I spent $65 and he treated us with that dessert and I felt like that was so sweet! Thank you team at Lalo! You guys were great and I now actually like that the restaurant was slower at the time but I do hope they pick up because it was a great place for us! Enjoyed very much and if we are ever back in the area we will stop through.

We don't make it in person as often as we'd like, but we order delivery almost every single weekend--and seriously, we couldn't live without it!! The pozole is the reason. It is absolutely divine. I genuinely dream about it during the week, counting down until the weekend because that's the only time they serve it. The meat is unbelievably tender--melt‑in‑your‑mouth tender--and the flavor is rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying. It's one of those dishes that sticks with you long after the bowl is empty. Everything else is consistently excellent too. The guacamole is always fresh and delicious. All of their salsas are vibrant, fresh, and full of flavor, and you can really taste the quality. Their chips and tortillas are also fresh and delicious, which makes such a difference and really rounds out the whole meal. When we do go to the restaurant in person, the experience is just as good. The servers are always helpful and friendly, the bar is great, and while the atmosphere may not be over‑the‑top fancy, it's comfortable, welcoming, and always very clean, which we really appreciate. Calles de Mexico is one of those rare places that's incredibly consistent over the years. Whether you're dining in or ordering delivery, they never disappoint. And if you're lucky enough to catch them on the weekend--do not miss the pozole!!

What this place lacks in ambience, it more than makes up for in flavor. We ordered both the Taco Tex (Chicken Tinga, Al Pastor, Spicy Chicken) and Taco Mex (Al Pastor, Chicken Tinga, Spicy Chicken), along with fries and a Michelada. The tacos were truly out of this world--perfectly spicy, incredibly flavorful, and packed with juicy, well-seasoned meat. Each variety had its own distinct taste, and everything felt fresh and authentic. We loaded them up with the sauces available at the table, and that just elevated the flavors to the next level. The fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned--simple but done right. My husband really enjoyed the Michelada as well; it paired perfectly with the tacos. If you're looking for great Mexican street-style tacos, this place absolutely delivers. I only wish I had more time in Dallas to go back for another round, because this spot definitely left us wanting more.

The food was excellent, and that's the reason I'm giving more than one star. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our waitress was inattentive throughout the meal. After our appetizers, she never cleared the table to make room for our main course. Other servers ended up bringing both our appetizers and our entrées because she was nowhere to be found. Eventually, the manager noticed our table was still cluttered and came over to clear it himself. I even had to ask him to find our waitress so we could get the check. The final frustration came with my child's meal. I ordered a kids' Coke, and the waitress told me it came in a can, so I said that was fine. When the bill arrived, I noticed I had been charged extra for the drink. When I questioned it, she explained that only fountain drinks are included with the kids' meal--not canned drinks. That information should have been explained when I placed the order so I could have made an informed choice. Instead, all I received was a quick "Oh, sorry." The food was truly delicious, but the poor service put a damper on what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. I hope the restaurant addresses these service issues because the kitchen is doing a great job.
