I was very apprehensive at first. My daughter cried a lot in the beginning, and leaving her each morning filled me with guilt. I found myself constantly second-guessing our decision--were we starting too early? Should we wait another year? During the school orientation, we heard from other parents whose children had similar struggles adjusting at first, but eventually settled into their new routine within about a month. I was still skeptical. There were days when I wanted to quit, but we pushed through those first four weeks--and I'm so glad we did. Eventually, my daughter stopped crying during the drive to school and at drop-off. I can confidently say that the love and care from her four teachers made all the difference in her transition. Ms. Sasmita, Ms. Anitha, Ms. Van, and Ms. Kathy are incredibly patient, kind, and nurturing. They truly care for my daughter as if she were their own. One example that stands out is how they handle her comfort items--her milk bottle and her blanket. Instead of forcing her to give them up, they gently encourage her and thoughtfully support her transition during school time. To me, this is going above and beyond. I worked in childcare for six years at a well-known nonprofit organization, starting as a teacher's aide, then becoming a teacher, and eventually a center director. Because of this, I feel I have a strong basis for comparison--and I can say that the Montessori approach here is truly exceptional. What I appreciate most are the practical life skills being taught. My daughter comes home excited to show us how she can match socks, fold clothes, and even sweep with a dustpan. She has always been independent (she's an Aries, after all!), but I've noticed that now she actively wants to participate in everyday tasks because she's practicing what she learns at school. When we enrolled our younger son at 20 months, he struggled with significant separation anxiety. Ms. Varsha and the Busy Bee teachers--Ms. Vanaja, Ms. Sandhya, Ms. Sandeep, and Ms. Mandeep--were extremely patient, flexible, and supportive during this transition, not just for him but for us as well. Over time, he settled in and began to truly enjoy school. In the Cherry Blossom classroom, he continues to receive love and care from Ms. Sasmita, Ms. Anitha, Ms. Kathy, and Ms. Ven. Today, he has grown into a confident and happy child who looks forward to both classroom, music, playground, and sport activities. We were lucky that for the first 3 years of our daughter's life, we could rely on grandparents for complete childcare. When going to work, our minds were at ease knowing she had excellent care and attention at home. The downside was that at 3 years old, our daughter did not have much opportunity to socialize with other children or stay with an adult other than her grandparents or parents. We were, of course, concerned that the transition to childcare or school might be disastrous. I cannot be more satisfied with our decision to enroll our daughter at the Kinderwood School, San Jose CA. We began with the summer school option, enrolling her in a half day program, 5 days a week when she was 3 years and a few months old. This was the perfect transition for a child who had no experience of staying with other adults outside of family. Her cognitive, social, and emotional progress was visible immediately. That Fall, we enrolled her in a full day program in the 3-year-old class.A year later, and we are still so happy with our experience. Our daughter will be enrolled in the 4-year-old program. While the curriculum and academic expectations are indeed rigorous, the staff is so incredibly loving, caring, and nurturing. The instruction is given in a way that engages the students through music and art. The children genuinely have fun while they learn and appreciate the structure and routine. We are always impressed with the work our daughter brings home. She is only 4 and can print her name, blend letters to phonetically read and write 3-4 letter words, add and subtract numbers, and so much more. Her experience is not unique as most if not all the students in her class can do the same.On top of this, every staff member from the administration, secretarial staff and teachers are excellent. I feel as though I am leaving my child with family. This is an incredibly important feature to me as I need to feel as though I am leaving my daughter in loving and capable hands when I drop her off to go to work. This school has been nothing but amazing to Alyson for the past couple of years. All the kids and the staff love her. The ratio was perfect for her. DelRoble CDC is just the right mix of academics and culture. A very diverse student body and an educational approach that really emphasizes what the children need and at the pace that the children can handle - if they can handle more they get more. We have referred multiple other people to DelRoble CDC The students are far ahead of the public school curriculum but they don't exhibit signs of stress or pressure. My wife and I are both SJSU alumni and our children are very motivated to work. Our favorite part of Del Roble actually their responsiveness not only to the kids needs but to ours - each and every incident that occurs at the school is addressed immediately, all teachers must respond to emails within 24 hours if a parent asks a question, and helping your fellow students is highly encouraged - even having older kids "mentor" the younger grades. Much to our dismay, she would be sad to spend the weekends with us because she would rather be at Ms Sharon's learning and playing with her new little friends. They taught her basic skills and really tapped into her creative side on certain projects and activities that they would do. Everyday she would come home and tell me about her day and we would go through worksheets togther, she was so proud, and it made us proud as parents. Overall, I understand, trusting someone you do not know yet with your own child can always be a scary thing but with Ms. Sharron, you should never have that worry.
