The first thing to know is that they are public and open to everyone although the offerings are geared towards older people. They have a gym, an "honor system"library, a billiards room-- even Friday BINGO! Much much more. David and I are going to pay 15 dollars each this month to use the gym on our walks. We are psyched. I have had the pleasure of interacting online with Denise from this foundation, and through her, my school library has become the recipients of a donation of badly needed books. Considering the budget cuts our school is going to have to endure yet again this year, we can't stretch the money any further. Therefore, new books are out of the question. However, with a little luck and my somewhat obsessive geek love of Joss Whedon, I found The Kids Need to Read Foundation. Generally, I pride myself on knowing ALL of the sites where teachers can get on their knees and unabashedly beg for free supplies. I, myself, am shameless. But, hey...teachers like me are on the ball. In this day and age, we need to be ridiculously creative and excessively Internet savvy to find money to pay for our "MUST HAVE" items that enhance the education of our students. One can only do so much with a stick of chalk and a busted overhead projector, people. Nathan Fillion (Firefly's Captain Tightpants for you Whedon cult-members out there) and author PJ Haarsma (The Softwire series) teamed up and established this foundation in 2007 because of a common love of education and reading. They strive to encourage a love of reading in children who would not normally find resources, which is a goal we should all share. Kudos to all foundations that foster a love of reading in all our students. And to all of you generous peeps who donate books to these organizations...FREE CUPCAKES!** **This is a lie. You do not get a free cupcake. But you do contribute to the education of our youth! WOO!

Last night, I had the absolute BEST time at this place. I've never been to a rage room before, but…read moreI've always wanted to go. I'm so glad that my first experience was here. My fella and I made a reservation for (what was probably) their last slot, 9pm. They offer a $10 cash discount, so we opted to pay cash for our time. The guys behind the counter were super nice, very knowledgeable (we had a few questions), and explained the whole process. We went for the splatter room, so we were offered ponchos and shoe covers. I intentionally wore things I didn't care about, so I took neither - my fella took the shoe covers. Inside, the room itself is pretty bonkers. It's relatively small-ish, but the set up is really convenient and easy to navigate in. There is paint dripping from EVERY surface lol the walls are thick with it, the barrels on which the canvas sits have puddles, your shoes slightly stick to the floor. It was a totally different experience than what I was expecting, in a good way. We got to throw paint anywhere we wanted. I splattered the walls, the floor, the door, what I could reach of the ceiling, and my fella (of course). By the end of our 45 minutes, I was COVERED and glowing (as the paint was neon and we chose the black light room). I know it wasn't a rage room, but it was still really cathartic. One of the best parts was that I got to hook my phone up to their Bluetooth speaker and jam loudly to my favorite music. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. It was just such a fun thing to do, and I recommend coming here as often as possible (they have punch cards!).

I love coming here to fix my bike, not only because of how well structured the place is set up making it really easy to find everything that you need and all of the tools necessary to build. But the staff is very knowledgeable which makes it 10 times better I love coming here occasionally just to check out different parts that I could swap and add to my build as they receive a lot of donations and their prices are really good.
