We were I. Portland for meetings. We came to Escape Games PDX for a team building outing. The staff here was nice and explained the games to us before we went in. During the game play we could ask for clues, we needed many, ha, ha. The clues they gave were helpful and helped us push on to eventually solve it with only less than a minute on the clock. We did the Tales from the Attic room. I won't give away any of the room, I will only say it was kind of like a mystery game of hang man to fill in the clues as we found them. It was different than other escape rooms I have done, but it was fun figuring out the clues to fill in the puzzles. I believe they have 4 different escape rooms here and I am sure they are all just as fun. If you are looking for a fun group activity, work outing, birthday party, etc. I would recommend an escape room and if in the Portland area check out Escape Games PDX. If you solve the game, you can pick a little key trinket as well and go up in the leader board if you solve it fast enough. We unfortunately did not make the leader board. Enjoy! read more

10/10 experience- Jake was the absolute best! Loved that they emailed you results after along with any pics you took. I don't think I've come across that anywhere in SD. We did the Prison Heist room because a couple of us had never done an Escape Room before and it seemed like a perfect starter room. Loved that the room is non-linear and the clues were all cohesive. You had a choice of dressing the part as they had inmate costumes readily available. The door is never locked so you can get out if needed. Also, for this room, there is no clock. Your gamemaster will let you know once you have 30 and 10 minutes left. Jake gave us fantastic clues and didn't make us feel like idiots for asking. I feel like we asked for only maybe a handful of clues. We escaped with about 11 minutes to spare. Loved that they had merch for each specific room. Makes it easier to grab a souvenir. Took my team of six to Escape Games PDX to play Portlandia. We had a great time. Elliot, our game master was fantastic. They greeted us enthusiastically and explained all the rules, including what to do if we needed a clue. We did ask for clues and unfortunately, we were unable to solve it. We had a great time nonetheless and I would definitely visit again. I did find a key that I thought was part of the game. I was so stoked...then Elliot told us the key wasn't a part of the game lol. It gave me a good laugh. They have a large parking lot, so you don't need to worry about a place to park. We went on a Friday around noon and the place wasn't busy at all. We had a group of 12 and Escape Games PDX is one of the few places (if not the only place) that accepts a group this big. We went to celebrate our friend's birthday here. We opted for the AMNESIA room and had a blast! Unfortunately, with a 20% success rate, our group wasn't able to escape, but we still appreciated the mind-boggling puzzles. Had an absolute blast in Noir! Our team of 6 finished sub 45 and would've finished faster if we had dug a little deeper in one of the locked boxes! (Make sure you grab everything!!) Jeremy was an incredible host and guide. When he saw that we were overthinking, he'd kindly send us a hint. What was great about the hints was that they were not revealing -- they pointed us away from the wrong direction (and not necessary pointing us in the right direction, so we had to think a bit) --- and **most importantly** the hints stayed in character with the theme to keep you immersed in the experience! My friends and I attempted to "escape reality" at Escape Games PDX during the rainy part of the day (buzz kill am-I-right?!). We opted for the "Prison Break!" Option and had a blast. Zack (sp?) was our escape guide and did an excellent job. If we were rating just him, we'd give a 11/10 stars (not mathematically possible :p). Extremely disappointed by the treatment from the staff. Our group came from out of town and arrived 10 minutes late. We were told that instead of an hour, we would have 50 minutes. I understood and asked if we could pay for an additional 10 minutes but was told that for the extra 10 minutes, we'd have to pay for an additional hour. I shared with the Supervisor Ava that this made no sense but she was unmoved quoting policy. It should be noted that there was not another group booked back to back. My response was that I disagree and would be posting my experience online. Ava shocked our group by accusing me of "being aggressive!" It is fair to say that we just wanted to be locked into a room as quickly as possible and as far away from this staff as we could be. I've done about 25 escape rooms worldwide. As a tradition, I do a escape room in every city/country I visit whenever possible. In this case, I chose the PORTLAND room which was pretty fun and fairly difficult. For a team of two (us) it was a bit more challenging because it had a good amount of clues and puzzles to solve. For Portland Room: I recommend a team of 4. The room is big enough that you could have 6 players , but I wouldn't recommend more than that. Really friendly game master and unlimited clues. I always come with a large group of friends and it's so fun to be able to solve all of the creative puzzles and fun surprises that they prepared. My personal favorite room is Amnesia. We tried the Sherlock's Secret room. All but two of us had never done an escape room, so we were not sure what to expect. We had the best time! There were so many intricate puzzles, some easier to crack than others. The props seemed to be high quality. I would definitely recommend doing the room with the max amount the room allows (we had 8 people) because you really do need to divide and conquer in order to get to everything. You are also able to get clues from the game master if you want. We finished with 15 seconds to spare. I can't wait to try more rooms! FYI - the main door to the room is never locked so you are able to leave at any point if you need to use the rest room or get some air, so you don't have the feeling of actually being trapped. There is a place in the room for your personal belongings, and there is also a screen in the room with a countdown clock. read more

My husband and I were the only two who reserved the A.M. time slot, so once she locked us in it was game on! Time flies really fast when you're having fun, so make sure you are always on your toes. Even though we were only 2 clues away from winning, we still had a lot of fun. The employee who let us in also turned out to be the owner of this establishment, and she was so lovely :) I'd recommend this to anyone in the area--I even told our Lyft drivers about this place. By the time this tape is finished, you will have 60 minutes to find a way out." Escape or cry, make your choice. Instead, it was kind of fun. And, by fun, I mean stressful. Until a person is faced with being locked in a room with "friends," it's impossible to tell whether they have what it takes to survive. Click. Tick. 59:59 Tick. This review is solely for the Prison Heist room at Escape Games PDX I have only done the Prison Heist room here, so I cannot comment on other rooms but for Prison Heist, i would not recommend this room if you are an escape room enthusiast I have done 50+ all over and this room was not that great in my opinion On a recent trip to portland, I wanted to check out this place but the only room that worked with my schedule was Prison Heist (not my first choice) The story of the room is that you are breakin into a prison to steal some evidence or something?? It was like they took the 2 most generic escape room themes (prison break and bank heist) and turned it into one disaster together lol. Really lame story and i was actually confuse at why you would break INTO a prison but okay... The room itself is pretty bland, typical cheap prison decorations and like a toilet and a desk, etc. Very uninspiring I could very clearly hear other rooms and patrons screaming loudly, which really ruined my immersion The puzzles were just okay, nothing that really sticks out in my mind, nothing that memorable The game master seemed uninterested and bored, not very hospitable Overall, i would skip this room. I would maybe consider coming back to try a different room on my next trip, but we'll see. there's some other places I'd rather visit first read more
