Decided to find something fun to do with a team while in town. They have many room themed options and we couldn't decide if we wanted to do the VR room or the traditional room. Since 2 of our friends have never experienced the escape room before we decided on the traditional room. But the staff had us test the VR while waiting for the rest of the team it was one of the coolest experiences! We ended up choosing speakeasy because it's medium difficulty and we barely made our hour time. The hints were helpful and we had fun! Would definitely want to come back and try the VR one.

Just tried the Barber escape room and it was pretty confusing. On the bright side, it was cleaner than our last experience and staff was decently friendly. Definitely a cute room but needs better hints/layout. Also, it's quite confusing, but this company has two locations, in the same plaza but on separate ends of the plaza. There's one by the Carlos O'Briens and one by the Ashley on the end. This is NOT communicated well.

He had a little time to spare. Thankful for some hints. It was a good challenge.

We had a group of 8 and we all worked together to find a killer and the murder weapon. It was challenging, exciting, and fun. Everyone had to brainstorm and made contributions to the investigation. We had a great time. Definitely do it again with a group or date night. The staff member I coordinated this reservation with was very professional and helpful. Explained all the details clearly.

This has to be the most immersive escape room I've done! The staff did an amazing job getting into character and setting the scene. Normally at escape rooms you have to ask if you want a clue but here they just gave you a few. One of the times I felt like I would've figured it out on my own in time. I don't want a clue unless we're really stuck haha. We finished with 10 minutes to spare. After we finished, our host asked if we had any explanations and further explained some of the puzzles. I also love the speakeasy-style hidden entrance with the code word and you can order milkshakes from Soda Jerk from the escape room lounge after you complete the escape room. I definitely want to come back and do the other two escape rooms here!

The boys longed to swing clubs and send golf balls with care, In hopes one might roll and drop clean in the cup there. But alas, not a tee time or booking in sight, So a side quest was sparked in the glow of the night. "To Soda Jerk!" was the call, with milkshakes in mind, Sweet dreams of cold treats and good times intertwined. Yet fate had a twist, as it often will do-- We found ourselves hiking where the tall pines grew. Deep in the Rim where the wild things call home, Where monsters are rumored and few dare to roam. Five brave boys pressed on through the dark and the thrill, With one daring goal and unwavering will: To capture a glimpse--just a shot, just a sight-- Of the Mogollon Monster that roams in the night. And somehow, someway, through luck or through fate, They captured their proof--yeah, the legend was great. So back into town, with stories to share, Milkshakes for all to top off the affair. A birthday well spent, wild, strange, and just right-- Happy birthday to all, and to all a good night. (Would totally recommend this room, was a blast!)

Kinda seemed like escape rooms would be the worst thing on the planet for me. But a friend loves the cyberpunk-esque vibes, and I was going to swallow my hatred to try my first escape room here with the Immersive Machine. I leave the experience virtually speechless. (No spoilers here, so read away!) Why it was great for two people new to escape rooms: -You can book the place solo. You don't need to be partnered with strangers who are going to speed run the place. -There is no clock anywhere. Time flies (serously, wow, it went so fast), but you aren't feeling rushed. -I was worried about it, but there aren't any "HOLYSHIT GO FAST YOU'RE GONNA DIE" vibes like some of the "escape to live" ones I've been told about. There's an alarm going off when you first get there, but it's like, a casual alarm that just reminds you that it's going off every 5 minutes or so with a light "beep". Like a friendly alarm. Nothing in here is on a time limit, constantly flashing, or constantly making noise. Nothing is designed for a panic response. This was huge for me. -The gamemaster's involvement is fluid and very immersive in the universe (but they're not in the room), so if he sees you're struggling, he steps in, in-character, to gently guide you without making you feel stupid. -Puzzles make sense, but they're also just really fun. It was a lot more of paying attention to the room's details and exploring the space than trying to solve a Rubik's cube or a slide puzzle. There were a few moments that required some actual hard, focused thought, but most of it was trying to pull together details of the space and alternative universe you're in (that are all easily available if you look around again). -There is nothing to memorize or "called back" throughout the place. You don't need to remember something that was told to you 50 minutes ago or else you can't finish it; everything you need is always easily accessible, and all the puzzles are "solve it and move on". We started by taking tons of notes on our phones just in case, and we abandoned that quickly since it wasn't necessary. -You mostly stay in the same areas, so you can put down waters or drinks and take breaks as needed. It doesn't cut you off of any of the areas, so you don't have to stress about constantly moving. -We finished it, two person, in under the average time, despite never having done an escape room in our lives. Why it was great, overall, in general: -The "alternate universe" makes it a lot more fun. At one point, you'll get to see a calendar the team made, complete with holidays and other details specific to this universe that doesn't exist in ours. It's these small touches that made me super excited (and sad I couldn't just sit and read them). -The gamemaster (Randy, I think?)'s personality was absolutely amazing. He was super friendly, and getting into his character really made it easier for us to feel okay getting into them too. -I'm not super into LARPing or playing pretend, but if you wanted to, there are free costumes and the over-the-top vibe of the gamemaster makes you feel less silly about trying it for yourself. -There's a little personified "friend" that pretty much everyone is going to fall in love with. I now think I love escape rooms, but I'm not sure any other escape room will ever compare to The Immersive Machine. There's no way for me to go but down; there's no way any other escape room will be as good as Immersive Machine was. It entirely converted me, and now I think escape rooms are the coolest thing ever. I see why it has a straight 5 stars on every review platform AND wins annual awards from the escape room social network. This is amazing.

The front lobby was clean and had a no-charge foosball table you could play while waiting for your game to start, which was a nice Ent-Bite. (I am coining that here!) They also offered water bottles for sale. This will be helpful once the Arizona heat starts up in May (and ends in October). The AI room was clean and nicely decorated. We successfully escaped the room. It was fun seeing my husband and my two boys having fun. The negative - the location was understaffed. The business had just one employee working. This employee had to monitor all the rooms, which included giving clues to those in the various game rooms. He also was checking people in, taking pictures of those leaving, answering phones, and I assume also cleaning and prepping the room when people left. I get businesses wanting to increase their bottom line but they are being shortsighted when they cut corners that impact user experience. An escape room is about engaging in distraction. An understaffed escape room causes users to wait on a games master to address their questions while the clock is counting down. Our host said he added some time due to the delay. While that was nice, it would have been better to actually play the game as it should have been played so that our sense of accomplishment is not devalued. Anyway, the room was good, the theme and decoration was fine. Would I go back again, yes and no. There is nothing stopping me from going back, but if I find a business that better staffs its business, which also shows kindness to its staff, I prefer to support that business owner.

The puzzles were just challenging enough where we didn't feel frustrated but also didn't feel super easy either. We learned it's a small family owned company who designs their own stories too which is awesome! Highly recommend checking them out.
