My first visit at Escape was everything I'd hoped! My appointment was with Lidiya. We had a brief consultation, I told her what I wanted to do - I needed aroot touch-up, I wanted a half-head highlights and a drastic haircut. I showed her inspo photos and we were on our way! I felt like I was heard! At the end of my visit with Lidiya, my hair was exactly how I wanted it! I am so pleased with the color, highlights and the cut! She did such an amazing job that by time I was finished I had secured an appointment within the week. Not happy with the way I am treated after 6 years being a customer. Had to repeatedly ask each time that I did not want the shampoo girl doing my hair as it hurts my scalp. The last time I was given the shampoo girl, had to ask for an extra piece for the wash station for my neck. I was told in a haughty voice that was using the piece. I said I will wait as the last time it was not used even though I asked for it. I was told that time that is was being used. I also had to ask to have additional color removed from my hairline. I could not believe I was given a towel with the remover to do it myself. Last time I will ever visit this salon. read more

have been coming here since high school and I've had only positive results. I'm the type that tends to decide at the last second to get a haircut, and Escape is very accommodating. I never have to worry about who I'm booked with because I can be confident that whatever stylist I get will do a great job. I have been to many salons in the Greater Danbury area - including Adam Broderick - and Escape has been the best. AB and the franchises tend to make me feel like cattle - just another number. The salon was definitely clean and the staff was extreme nice & welcoming. In fact, the customer service was the best I have seen in a while. However, my hair cut was probably the least favorite hair cut I've ever gotten. I wanted side bangs and my hair to be thinned out a little. She did not style it for me at the end so I had to go home and straighten it, the bangs are too long and even the day I got them cut it looked like I needed a trim, and my hair is still too thick. Now it looks even thicker because she took off length without thinning it. Very nice people but I will not be going back. $50 seemed very high for the small amount of time that was put into my hair cut. I will be sticking with my regular salon in NYC even if the commute is ridiculous... It's worth it. read more

Salon was attractive & nicely kept. I only got a trim, so I can't really speak on how well they do cuts. It came out decent. My color on the other hand was not at all what I wanted, I was so disappointed. Maybe I could have asked them to fix it, but I just wasn't willing to let them work on my hair again. It took nearly 3 hours for a cut & single process color, which to me seems way too long, and my bill in the end was pretty pricey. I can't say enough good things about the owner Robin. She provides such outstanding service and really makes you feel at home in the salon. I love all my regular hair cuts from her and recently got my bridal hair and make up done there, and the bridesmaids hair too. The only recommendation I have for brides (which isn't specific to the salon but just in general) is that it's really helpful to have a hair and makeup trial, as it reduces stress on the actual day and gives you time to work with the stylist to find just the right look! read more

I came here to get lo lights because I had bleached blonde almost platinum hair and wanted something more natural, Britney did my hair and she was amazing she did lo light and an all over toner and it came out beautifully but because I am so used to blonde blonde it was a little bit of a shock for me so I went back the next day and she put hi lights in and it was absolutely perfect and she didn't charge me. I have gotten my hair done everywhere and everyone manages to mess it up and I am usually never happy but she did an amazing job and did not make me feel bad for being so picky I live in Florida and am so sad that I am not closer because she would be my new hairstylist, everyone was nice and the prices are great I was very surprised. My mom loved my hair so much that she is going to see Britney also and my mom has gone to the same girl for 6 years !! read more

I recently moved to the area and been here on 2 separate occasions. Both times I asked to be booked with "new talent," as the haircut I wanted was fairly simple, and it would save me $15. Both times I had great cuts, by a different stylist each time. They did exactly what I asked for. My issue is not with the cuts, but with the discrepancy price, and potentially shady pricing. When I booked, I specifically asked for "new talent" - which on their website is defined as a stylist who is new to Escape, and has been a hairdressing for less than 5 years. Haircuts are $35 with new talent vs. $50 with a master stylist. During my first visit I was charged $50 at checkout. I thought it was odd, but didn't mention anything. Maybe I had been charged for the blow dry...? Tonight, I was - once again - told my total was $50. I asked for the breakdown, and the receptionist said, "That's it. It's $50." I explained when I made the appointment I *specifically asked* for new talent, and they confirmed that the person they were putting me with was exactly that. Her curt response was, "No, she's not new talent. We don't have anyone that is new talent here." I didn't fuss, but she was quick to honor the new talent price. Given that this has happened on two separate occasions - nearly a year apart - I believe that they are doing some sneaky stuff with their booking OR their staff is not clear with who is new talent and who isn't OR they just need to take the "new talent" option off their website. Either way....be weary that they may try to pull a fast one on you when you check out. read more

After 2 yrs. of being a client here and receiving various services from 6 or 7 different artists/technicians, I can't say enough good things about this business. Here, there are skillful, professional, cheerful personnel who REALLY listen to your preferences for style and color; immaculately clean conditions; a warm, inviting, homey climate (not a factory feel); a beyond-luxurious shampoo technique that practically constitutes a massage service in itself (no matter who shampoos you, so it's obviously a standardized element); global- and local-community-minded, huge-hearted co-owners who have been recognized as salon leaders of excellence; and an in-house fair trade shop with delightful items where I've picked up several perfect birthday gifts for others. I'd have settled for a place where I could get a good, consistent hair trim but Escape is much, much more. read more

There should be a negative 10 star on this review!! The worst mani/pedi of my life. It's okay if you have years of your life to give up. The main/pedi took so long, I wanted to escape. I moved to Connecticut a few years ago and have searched and searched for someone I liked to do my hair but I am a very picky girl with thick hair who likes to change the color frequently. I had been to Tease, Dawn's Pizzaz, Matthew Broderick, etc with not only any luck, but I lost a good deal of money during this search. About a month ago, I moved to Bethel, and across the street was Escape. I read the reviews on Yelp and figured I'd give them a shot. I am in the process of going back to platinum blonde from a dark red (which is a long process). Annie was my stylist and she was very personable and friendly, plus, she did a phenomenal job. My color and cut came out beautiful and I really felt like she understood my ultimate goal. I came back a few days later to get a blow dry and style (loose curls) for a cocktail party I was attending in the city. She again, did a flawless job and I didn't walk out looking like Shirley Temple. I received compliments on my hair all night and it held very well. I was more than satisfied with the quality of this salon, and I highly recommend it to anyone! read more
