We had a blast here with our family over Christmas. We did the apartment and we did have to ask for two clues! It was pretty hard. We had a few blunders that keep this from a perfect 5 star - the staff told us to put all of our coats and personal items on the couch so we missed a clue under that heap, and we had one item that was not reset from the prior game!! We had so much fun! There were seven of us in the group and we definitely needed all seven brains to complete the escape. The story line and clues were fun and challenging. For some of us it was our first time doing an escape room, and the employee did a great job explaining the process, storyline, and goal. What a fun activity in the Southside. May sure you write down the street address as you just might miss the entrance. The door is very unassuming but it's marked and there's a stairwell to get to the 2nd floor. We went as part of a large group and had a great time. We split into two groups and went into 2 different rooms. It was a good way to hang out, have fun, and solve a puzzle. I wish we would have planned it and switched rooms so we could have really compared who was the best! That would have added some time to the event and delayed eating, but just a note if you go with a large group and have the time. The staff was helpful and easy to work with, signing up kind of took a lot of time with a large group (lots of checkboxes and info to fill out) but once we were in, we were on our way. You can't take photos IN the rooms (for good reason), but you can take photos when you win like my team or lose like the other team. read more

Always have fun doing escape rooms and this one wasn't any different! I found a groupon for a group of 4. The place is a little hard to find because it's just a door in the strip. But the staff is friendly and the room we did (the agency) was well thought out. We had a good time and would definitely go back. Pro- they have a few little games you can play in the lobby while you wait for your room to get set up. Tip: use the bathroom before you get here. Dirtiest bathroom ever. But I don't blame them- the employees are friendly and probably not paid enough to clean pee off the floor. read more

Really fun time! This was my very first escape room experience. I love puzzles and board games, so I really enjoyed the game play of it all. The theme was 1980s Pittsburgh in a much better version of the T (seriously, send that map over to Port Authority - it was genius.) Escape the Room PA is the REAL DEAL! I had done some knock-off "escape the rooms" in NYC (and they were ok) but after trying The Agency at Escape the Room PA, the bar was seriously raised. The puzzles are tricky but doable as long as you have good communication with your team. The sets that they've constructed in these rooms will blow your mind, especially if you get all the way to the end. It's like being in a real life video game. Our game master was super nice and congratulated us on finishing The Agency with 9 minutes to spare. The only thing I would've liked is the opportunity to "peek" into one of the other rooms - I've noticed that this often gets people even MORE excited to come back. Also, they could stand to have a better sign on the front door - I almost missed it as we were driving by. Escape rooms are a blast, and this was no exception. Our group did "The Agency", one of I believe five rooms at this location. The place books up relatively quickly, so you should go on the website to prepay and book your time. Bring your smartest friends because it's all about strategy and problem solving. Joel was one of the gentlemen who checked us in. He was great and offered a bit of flexibility when we got into a pinch with our group- which was extremely appreciated and he earned a repeat customer for certain. :) One star loss because of two things. We had a group of 8, and max for the room was 10- so we had two strangers in the group as well. This has not been the case with other escape rooms, and it took a little away from the experience for our first-timers. Second, our "group leader" or the person who watches you on camera was a little bit disappointing. We are convinced she missed one of our clue solves, which made us miss "escaping" by literally less than 5 seconds. Oh well, all in fun. We will be back. read more

This is an expensive and very fun hour of entertainment. It has to be expensive to pay the rent and any longer than an hour would diminish the fun. The sets are elaborate and multi roomed according to the theme you choose. We have done two rooms, got out neither time - so close once and not close at all once. Don't ask anyone for 'tips' and it would be no fun to repeat a room. This is a great break from anything typical and provides a lot of laughs and conversation afterward. My wife and I have done 2 of the available rooms at Escape the Room, and the experiences are always fun but there are some issues. First, we did The Apartment, and while the game itself was fun there were a few times when we had a clue but nothing to give us an indication of what to do with it. This has nothing to do with the group of players, but rather the clue itself. Like another reviewer stated, they had to install TV's to help the players out, and they are used too often to guide the players because of the inadequacies within the game itself. The second room we did was The Newsroom, and the same problems were present. There was a real lack of clues to begin the game, and the TV was once again used to guide the players. If the game was better thought out to begin with, the use of the TV clues could be minimized to a set number allowed per game like other games of this type. Three stars because of the good time with a group of friends (or strangers if it is just 2 of you), but the games themselves need a bit of refinement. Update #1 3/19/16: My wife and sister-in-law did another room today, The Dig, and it was more well thought out than the last two, with less clues having to come from the TV sets. Of the three rooms we have done here, this was by far the best and the one I would currently recommend to do. A more well thought out game is exactly what this place needed, so bumped it up to four stars. read more

A must to entertain friends! We took a group during the day for "the agency" and then had to try "the dig" that night. We will be returning for the others. The game masters give you clues when you get off course from a TV screen. The technology that the rooms have are what justifies the price. Be prepared to pay attention to detail. A lot of fun! We did "The Dig" with 6 people and it was a blast. It is easy to do these rooms with less than the maximum number of people as long as everyone works on different puzzles/challenges and everyone works together. You'll probably need 2 fewer than the max though, because there are a lot of puzzles to work on at once. The only down side to Escape the Room is the price, which is understandable considering that these rooms need upkeep and require some overhead. I definitely recommend people give it a try! read more

We did The Apartment with a group of 8 and had a great time! It accommodates the right number of people so that people can be working on different things while still being small enough to communicate and collaborate on everything. The hints were perfectly timed to make the difficulty level just right - just enough to keep us moving, but not too much to give anything away. I will say that our group was all in our 20s so it didn't bother us, but I could see how a couple of the clues would be confusing for older people. Without giving anything away, we did use our smartphones (though probably didn't need to) to help us out with one clue, so if you're not super comfortable with technology have at least one millennial in the group! Our very first time doing an Escape Room. We had lots of fun and it was a great activity for us to do with our kids. Only disappointment was a finicky key pad that cost us about ten minutes and not knowing that we might need to make a call on our cell (the confirming email said "just bring yourself and your wits" not "bring your cellphone you might need to make a call") A lesson learned, we'll be better prepared next time and hope to return for another challenge. read more

I really had a great time at escape the room I highly recommend going to this if you wanna do something different.

We dropped in with some friends from out of town hoping to be able to play a game. The guy said we had to book an hour in advance online and wouldn't even let us play the game. We offered to pay cash, he said no. He said he didn't have anyone to run the game even if we played it (so what is his purpose of being there if he couldn't run the game for us?). This was by far the worst customer service experience at an escape game and we have played over 50 escape rooms with no issues dropping in (even with the same booking system). read more

We have been to other escape rooms. Was not impressed with this at all. We did the apartment. It was filthy! Puzzles were challenging and I'm not sure what our cluemasters name was but she wasn't helpful. Not to mention, we could even enjoy ourselves because the room was FREEZING!
