Kiki was awesome and and so nice! Bonus points for saying they were proud of us. The "p" word that makes all of us peeps with parent issues cry. We were trying to kill some time before an event we were in town for (my birthday present) and it's definitely the most chill and relaxed escape room I've done. Most don't let you keep your phones let alone encourage it's use for specific functions. We chose the apartment due to the time and also to be able to do it with 2 of us alone since nobody else was registered for that time. The website says you can buy out the remaining tickets to ensure your alone but they will totally let you go without the fee if nobody else is there and they do take walk-ins. My partner and I play alot of puzzle games and I'd say that it wasn't particularly difficult, but some of them didn't flow well causing us to needs the hints. Though genuinely there was 1 hint we actually did need due to us being blind and not seeing a particular piece in the room. Most of the puzzles were pretty straight forward with one time use items to make it easier to ensure we have finished a particular section. I also overlooked a piece due to my autistic intuition to blindly follow rules and ignored an area near something labeled as not part of the game which immediately made me leave it alone and that one was also on me. Tried come from a constructive critic angle with compliments as they are definitely worth checking out. I would say that it is also super beginner friendly. I enjoyed this "Escape the Apartment" escape room very much, since it was more like "real-life" detective work than the other escape rooms I've been to. I'm familiar with the patterns I saw. These types of clues that involve numbers and number locks are really hard for me, since they are designed for logical-minded thinkers who are good with numbers. I am neither of those things. I'm more of a holistic detective--much slower. It would be AWESOME to participate in an escape room designed for how the "other half" thinks if you know what I mean. :) Also, most modern-day thieves don't use number locks, so this is antiquated. They use things in "plain sight" and use "tricks" in modern technology more commonly to remind themselves of short key numbers and things (like a label right on a door or under a chair that looks like it's part of manufacturing). Plus their lock boxes are more MODERN--like fingerprint activated--or even boxes that look like empty storage boxes but have hidden chambers or simply clues that lead to more of a patterned scavenger hunt. The common pattern of using lock boxes and keys in escape rooms is VERY behind the times, I'd say, everywhere, and I'm not seeing a pattern of A to Z-style thinking at any of them that bridge all the connections (like providing a "treasure map" at the end that showed one person's devious method). Patterns are similar, but they are also unique to each user. :) I'd love to see a more modern adaptation! Thanks for a great time! read more

First time doing an Escape Room, but it was a lot of fun for a VERY competitive family of four (mainly because we did actually escape). We did The Dig and the only complaint is that we had to use our cell phone flashlights because it was very dark which made it extra difficult to find things, but we realize this is because they were trying to create the proper "mood" for a dig. Our daughter had done a few Escape Rooms in the Boston area, so we made sure to ask plenty of questions about what we were allowed to do once locked in the room, including cell phone use. We advise that you ask, ask, ask before you start. This Southside escape room was very different than the ones my daughter did in Boston, which is good to know. It is also reasonably priced for an escape room. Will go again and try a different room next time. read more

I took my very close friend (totally platonic), Ruth, here for the first time. Rebecca (Becca? Becky? Bea?) was our game master. She was very nice and had great hair. It teetered the line of fierce pixie and Groucho Marx. You know that line... She did not bombard us with hints, but helped us when we needed it most. She struck us as the kind of person who owns way too many Joni Mitchell albums, but she did a great job. The room was very clever. We shared it with some really cool cats. Made some new friends. Had a lot of fun. It's a great location too. Plenty of spots to have dinner before (we went to Aspara) and lots of fun to be had after (karaoke at Smiling Moose). I recently had an incredible experience at Escape the Room in Pittsburgh, PA! The puzzles were cleverly designed and truly immersive, making for an exhilarating challenge. Our host, Abby, was absolutely fantastic--she was not only welcoming and friendly but also incredibly helpful throughout our adventure. Couldn't have had a better time! I went down for both rooms they offered on back-to-back nights with groups of friends for my birthday. Rooms were well designed. It was challenging, but there were enough hints given along the way to not make you feel completely in the dark. A tad pricey at $30 per person, but when you consider how well the rooms were designed, all of the props that were put into place, and the friendly staff available to provide a great experience, the $30 seems worth it. Can't wait for the two other rooms to open! I'll be back for sure! read more

Highly recommended! If you want to do something different for fun... this is it! One of the coolest things I have done in a long time. I looked for things to do for my visit for Pittsburgh and I/we are so glad I saw and chose this place. I loved it so much that I am trying to convince them to set one up in my hometown of Buffalo where I know the locals will love it including my work for corporate team-building events. SO much fun! I knew that I would enjoy it, but it was even better than I expected. We did The Dig and The Agency, and both were terrific, though I liked The Dig a little more. Both were perfectly crafted to make you feel like a genius one minute and an idiot the next, all the while having a great time. I can't wait to do it again. The only suggestion I have to share is that is you can buy out the room and split the cost among fewer people than the maximum allowed, do it. This was SO MUCH FUN! I went with a group for my friend's birthday. I expected it to be fun, but it was way better than I expected. The best part is that it was actually pretty challenging! We barely made it out in time and even asked for a few hints. It was all even made better by the super friendly staff and the picture you get at the end. This was literally the most fun I have ever had. The level of detail that went in to the room made it an incredibly immersive experience, the puzzles were beautifully designed, both in terms of pacing and approachability, and nothing felt contrived or impossible. My group did the Dig, which could accommodate up to 8 people, but we were able to solve it with 6. I feel like at maximum capacity it would have felt crowded, especially at the beginning, but as it was, it was a solid all-around experience. read more

It was everything I was expecting and hoped it would be. If you are at the point in your lives where you have some awesome friends or family members - go and make a great memory with them. This place does not disappoint. We chose "the Dig" and were successful. Dress in layers - it was very warm in the room. What an incredible find!!! I hosted a little birthday party for my fiance here and everyone had an unbelievable time - even those that I was SURE wouldn't be into it. The puzzles are incredibly challenging and complex with some seriously cool gadgets and clues like magnetic locks and cryptic recordings... I can't WAIT to go back and do another one. I went to this escape room for my birthday with friends. We did the agency theme and it was very fun and interesting to navigate!! If you plan to go and do this theme bring your friends who have common sense and DO NOT step on or over the neon green line. Ha, I'm only half joking I love my friends. We came here for a work team building exercise. We chose the "The Dig" there were 8 of us. And we did it with 7 minutes to spare! It was kind of perfect we all worked on a puzzle/clue at any given point. We struggled on one part but I'll leave a hint at the bottom. The host was amazing and knew when we needed a clue.
