"Holy God, no more friggin' mail order." CCS is here. I order out of CCS website about once ever 2…read moremonths, I feel almost, that CCS is a shrine. Yesterday was the grand opening. I walked into a skateboard paradise. The entire front area is apparel. Every brand of skateboard shirt, jacket, some jeans, and female clothing, too. Sunglasses, watches. Whatever. Think Loma Vista Hardware in bright in your face colors. The back of the store is a wall of skateboards decks, and a few wide boards. Impressive display, Enjoi, Habitat, Baker, Element, CCS, Alien Workshop, Toy Machine, Girl, Plan B. I saw a Rob Dyrdek Deck I would've bought for my son, if he'd needed one. (We go through a deck about once a year). then at the counter is the hardware, and wheels. All sizes. Several brands of hardware. It'd be a kick ass place to work. Heck, I'd like to work there, myself. When I go back to Oak Park Mall, I saw a female Famous Stars and Straps shirt I want. But instead of mail ordering it, I can drive and get it, along with my son';s clothes. (Almost every shirt he owns was bought at CCS mail order.) The store has a sampling of what's on the website, and a full selection of decks. I imagine if you watch the website, there will be demos there. And know what? I love to watch skateboarding demos. I've seen professional skateboarders and CCS is one of the larger sponsors. I'm thrilled to be writing this review.

We got 3 sets of ski's and boots, My wife got a jacket and pants as well... Long story short we couldn't be happier. I had a problem with my boots so we went back, they figured out what the problem was and took care of it no problem. I ended up going back a week or so later to get a helmet and the guy remembered me and asked how the boots fit! I always have a great time dealing with this shop.

The way he spoke with my daughter to help fit her to the right bike was just so sweet. He was helpful and encouraging of her. He was also very respectful. Always asking if he could hold on to her shoulder to show her how to ride or to hold my son's head to try on the helmet. I will definitely be recommending Erik's and Brian to anyone I know looking for a bike. We'll definitely be back!

I asked about the price of a tune-up; he said "$150, but you don't need a full tune-up. We will only charge what you need." I asked about the crank shaft. He said it was fine. I had issues with the brake lines, but no crank shaft issues. This is significant because I went to the Erik's on 135th St., Overland Park, KS before going to the 95th St. location. I was told the crank shaft needed to be replaced and the cost would be about $147 (including labor). They said if the bike can't be repaired, I could get a comparable bike for $850. I am so glad I followed my instincts at went to the 95th St. location for a second opinion. Great service and honest values goes a long way and I will always return to Erik's on 95th St. Thank you!

I'm familiar with Escapist (it used to be over on Barry Road). It's a local; shop, and they have their own skateboards, and clothing, besides carrying the usual brands. Walked in, and there's a few wracks of clothes, not much. Maybe 20 hoodies, and none of which I was looking for. Jeans, and a wrack of t-shirts. They do carry a near full line of skateboards. Skateboard, and supplies are kind of becoming part of the general public, but people should be mindful of their equipment. They should be mindful of the wood that is the deck, the grip tape. The wood is generally maple. Stores like this sell the real thing. Stores like this can keep This location has a good stock of them, and many shoes. (mostly Vans). Vans are fine, but don't grip the grip tape as well as DC's or Etinnes. This is a generally uncolorful store, nothing too interesting. That's unfortunate. I hope they can manage to stay afloat in Summit Fair. Maybe if they can,they can improve the shop to make it a bit more lively.

The main attractions for me are the Ferris wheel, the aquarium entry area and the cafe (+ sweets store). However, they have so much more to offer. It has departments for all sorts of team sports, all types of outdoor and adventure sports like fishing or hunting, fitness, footwear, games, toys, apparel, home goods and more. Do not forget to have the pizza and fudge at the cafe after a long stroll at the store. Also on the second floor they have beautiful taxidermy animals areas which is a fantastic site. It can get busy on the weekends so plan your visit accordingly because it's hard to get parking outside the store. Best best is to go onto the shop. If you are HARDCORE into mountain biking this is your local spot for Service & high end parts, Onestar had a LOT. Somehow they have parts you can't even get online and at a better price. Shop itself: It's a very small shop and there are party everywhere in kind of an organized disarray lol I just bought parts so I'm only reviewing this aspect. Parts: I was told he had a Carbon Revel Rascal Frame. He actually had a few! I asked about the frame (He was very knowledgeable) I needed a BB, sram cassette and a sram chain. I had to ask because it would have taken me a week to find the parts myself. But he got everything together and he gave me a really fair price. Zumiez is known for skateboard and snowboard apparel, supplies and boards, et al. So, expecting them to have snowboarding pants isn't too much to ask. The website has tons more, but I can't order something like pants online without trying them on first. This being local, I went to Zumiez, and expected them to have snowboarding pants. They had 5 or maybe 6 pair, one of which I bought. All were marked down. But nothing for females, really....except the teeny Burton's that would only fit a pipe cleaner. My son asked if they had any other snowboarding supplies, and they replied that they sent them all back. WTF? That didn't go over so well. I kept my mouth shut. One of us didn't. They do have a pretty good skateboard shop, one of the few in Independence. But, heck, I'd rather Loma Vistas in Westport. I'm not happy cause this Zumiez didn't have what my son needed (they could've but didn't), and we drove all the way to Oak Park Mall. Keep that in mind before you go to this store.

They have a really big collection of apparels, jerseys, accessories, home goods products and more. They also had Fifa WC products and local made KC goods too. Prices were good, we compared some of items and the price was cheaper than Chiefs' Pro Shop. We spent about half an hour in the store. The staff members were really friendly. They assisted us with finding some specific items. I bought some Chiefs magnets, Fifa WC magnet and KC souvenir from the store. Checkout was super quick and easy.
