We did not succeed in escaping the room in 1 hour, even with a few hints, but we had so much fun trying. The staff member said it was their hardest room and only a few groups have escaped with no hints, which made us feel a lot better. Will definitely be back! read more

Three of us played Murder Mansion and had a great time! Garrett was friendly and even offered us coffee and tea while we were in the lounge. It was a cute place with a mysteriously fun ambiance. Our hint giver, Celina, was also helpful- we made it out with 2 minutes 26 seconds to spare. There's a parking garage down the street, so no problem with that either (we went on a Sunday). Was able to book this room same day, and have been to this location before to do the seven deadly sins and narcos (have to come back to escape this one). There were a few puzzles that were a bit difficult that we asked the gamekeeper to explain afterwards, but overall can't wait to come back and complete every room. read more

I really wanted to love this escape room! but taking off 2 stars as the room that my friends and I did was SOOOO short. (total only 2.5 rooms) not everyone was able to work on something as there weren't enough clues for everyone to be working on something simultaneously. so I would decrease the amount of people that you have for the room (8 is way too many) so that you actually get to solve for things. Overall, would maybe come back with a smaller group. read more

This was so much fun. Located right next to the movie theater inside stonestown mall. My partner and I wanted to catch a movie at the theatre but nothing was calling out to us so were galavanting around. We did the lost city escape room and had so much fun. Our host was really friendly and helped us get started few minutes after we got there. Great activity to do if you are tired of shopping or looking for something fun to do at the mall. read more

I always have a good time here. It's perfect for a date night. In my opinion these escape rooms are designed for 2 - 4 people. The themes are fun, the rooms look great and puzzles require you to think outside the box. The staff is very friendly. It's priced competitively compared to other escape rooms too. In my experience the staff will usually give you a discount at the end of an escape room for your next visit. I would defer recommend this if you need an idea for a date night or a small group of friends or family. read more

Attended a lost city escape room with seven people. Once we were all together, we were escorted to the first room. Before the escape room and timer started, we are provided a rundown of general rules - nothing out of reach, nothing that needs excessive force, no phones, and once you to use an item you won't need it again. Three free hints and then any hints afterwards take away from your time. There's also a basket in the first room available to store any of your personal items. Without spoiling this game, it's very decipher focused. If you love solving decipher puzzles, than this is for you. All the rooms were reasonable to complete without needing a hint (we only asked for one and we felt silly afterwards) with one room especially complex. After completing the entire escape room, we felt accomplished but partially unfulfilled. We do wish the game was a bit longer, and we felt that one room wasn't really a true puzzle room as it was mostly plug-in play with some items discovered in previous rooms. read more

Loved our escape experience and Emmett was great in helping our large group of 12 get settled and in ensuring we all had a great time. We did Antidote and Lost City and our group aged 4-50+ loved them. The rooms are really well done with a great level of challenge and even the waiting area is so nice- we visited during the holiday season and appreciated the cozy Christmas feel. I had the most terrible experience at Escapology at this location on 7/21/2025. I am not sure if this is a universal experience among the brand, but I hope HR or management gets ahold of this review to fix this issue. It all started because we were late only two minutes. This young lady -- skinny, short in height, wearing a green-ish hat, and wavy curly dark hair (writing her description because I was unable to get her name) -- already greeted us with a negative attitude to let us know "you're late". I understand that we were late, but for us to greeted with an unwelcoming presence, we felt that we weren't welcomed here. Then, as we started, the lady told us we wouldn't receive the full escape room time limit -- rightfully so. However, she then slams the door as if we had ruined her whole day. We disregarded it and got to working on the hard spent money on our large group escape room. We started running into issues in the actual games, the tube was not working, etc. The worker from earlier comes in with an accusatory demeanor... "did you break it?!" Possibly this may be a common issue for people to easily break it so then she was quick to accuse us, but it felt wrong because the room itself was already bugging with issues. After fixing it, she then slams the door once again, shaking the whole room. I was frustrated at this point. This entire experience, due to ONE worker, ruined our entire visit to 430 Bay St Escapology. I hope that one worker, although young and may have more to learn, is reprimanded for her unacceptable behavior. We drove an entire 45 minute route from where we are from, which made this entire experience even more frustrating. For the time being, my group and I will not be attending this location. read more

My group did the Mansion Murder room on July 21st at 9:10 PM at the Fisherman's Wharf Escapology location, and it was by far the worst escape room experience we've had. We were just 10 minutes late and understood that our time would be cut short. During the game, one of the puzzles jammed even though we solved it. A staff member came in--a woman with long curly hair, wearing a green hat and flannel hoodie--and without saying a word, handed us the key with an attitude and slammed the door shut behind her. It was aggressive, unprofessional, and honestly shocking. We were left speechless. We've been to many escape rooms and never encountered anything like this. It felt like they were annoyed we were even there. If you're looking for a fun and respectful experience, go elsewhere. There are much better places in SF that value their customers and actually know how to treat people! read more

My friends and I went a couple of weeks ago and did the narcos room, we didn't know it was the hardest room but thankfully the girl who helped us was very kind and understanding! Booked a reservation for doing an escape room with 4 people. Parking is a bit hard. You have to do street parking. But once you walk inside it's very nicely decorated. They had two tvs playing movies and nice interior with their clocks and gives a dark vibe. We did the hardest room which was the Narcotics. They explained the rules very well and gave us 3 free hints. We unfortunately did not escape on time but we did at least got to the third room. I would say this place is a bit pricey but for the quality of props and equipment used I can see the price worth. read more

We were running a bit late but they still gave us full 60min and we had a great time! Our group of 4 was the perfect amount for Murder Mansion. Little did we know that this was the hardest room with 27% pass rate. Unfortunately we did not finish in time but the gamemaster showed us how to finish since we were super close. Pros: - You can find discounts for this place - Private parties only - Production value is very very high - Very thoughtful puzzles and a nice challenge - Three rooms so plenty to do - They have a nice lobby and 2 restrooms - Very creative props and clues (we had to figure out which notes to play on piano to get next clue) Cons: - parking is not convenient in this area - Murder mansion room is right next to bathroom so we would hear people outside periodically which was distracting Overall, I've been to several escape rooms and this has been the best one so far, definitely coming back! read more

I had a great time at this escapology and wanted to leave a high star rating. Lennon and Natalie provided a great experience for us. I was concerned that my seven-year-old granddaughter would get a little nervous in an escape room experience but she had a blast and provided great insight to solving some of the puzzles which surprised me. I learned that escapology rooms are big hits even with the young generation. We ranged in age from 7 to 67 and everyone had a great experience! We will definitely be returning to try other rooms. Not a great experience at all. Half of our party arrived on time and when we got there it seemed that there was a power outage which can be a little overwhelming for the employees but they acted super unprofessional about it. We did narcos which the room was pretty cool but the hardest one. We asked for clues and nobody would answer until minutes later saying they were with another room. We were close to the end and the final door opened by itself and the employee just looked at us and said oops. Maybe it was just an off day but the vibe wasn't it. read more

We have really enjoyed the 2 games we've done here. Looking forward to doing the third soon and very excited for the opening of another new room! The puzzles are well done, some are very unique which we like since we have done a lot of rooms. The games flow well and you can tell there is attention to detail. Came here with a big group of friends and we managed to book two rooms for a private experience. The process was super flexible--we just had to pay for the right number of players and could decide ourselves who goes into which room. They were also pretty accomodating when we added more people after our initial booking. The interior lobby was one of the coolest I've seen among all the escape rooms I've done. Our group chose the Lost City room, and the theming was pretty nice. However, the puzzles were quite straightforward; none were too tricky, except for one that was easy to miss the room change and understand how to use it to solve. Surprisingly, we wrapped it up in about 31 minutes with just one hint. Considering we were familiar but not experts in escape rooms, it felt a bit too easy. The overall service was good, and while the escape rooms might lean on the simpler side, the theming was nice too. read more

We played murder mansion, and the game had 2 different things that broke and literally didn't work to the point where 2 separate employees came in and messed with things for several minutes to get the game to continue. It really ruined the immersive experience, and it made us question everything else in the room because we were worried more things would be broken. For $45 per person, it was sooo not worth it. The price is too high for a broken game. I've been to cheaper places that have everything work as planned, and they're so much fun. I asked afterwards if they could provide us with some kind of discount off the game because of how awful the experience was, and they only said they could give a coupon for later which does nothing since we weren't from SF. Absolutely would not come back and would not recommend. Too expensive for a broke game. read more

We just did The Lost City and loved it! The theme was great, the room was decorated accordingly, and the puzzles were challenging but solvable. We are two experienced players and solved it with the help of several hints. We also did Mansion Murder months ago. It was difficult so we suggest more people for that room. The great thing about Escapology was that the rooms are private, meaning you don't share it with strangers. We considered The Escape Game but didn't want to take the risk of doing it with people we didn't know. read more

From the moment we checked in, there was a certain staff member that gave us rude behavior and attitude. We were a bit late but thats not an excuse to give us a bad experience. She was wearing a hat and had a ponytail. We asked for help one time and the same employee came into the room and helped us. After that, she stomped out of the room and slammed the door behind us. Other staff members came into the room but did not give us attitude and bad behavior. We understood that we were late and we complied with their company policy with us taking time off our escape room. Regardless of that, there was no excuse to treat us that way. Even when they called us about the booking, the same employee gave us the attitude on the phone. We really wished that the escape room would be good and challenging but we couldnt get over the fact that that employee treated us that way. Beautiful escape room, the interior was super thematic. Our party played Murder Mansion and Lost City. As a group who has done various escape rooms, Murder Mansion was a great puzzle experience in terms of difficulty, and Lost City had one of the best production sets we've seen. More notably, I felt like our GMs were really attentive to our game experience, giving meaningful hints that fit our group's context (unlike some other escape rooms where the GMs are unresponsive or give you a hint to a puzzle you've already solved). The staff was super personable, we're definitely going to come back to play Narco. read more

Love Escapology! My group used a Groupon the first 2 times we went. It's valid Monday-Thursday. We escaped the Lost City and Murder Mansion. They were so fun. We also did Narco and we were so close to finishing. If we had 5 mins we would've escaped! The lobby is really nice too. The people helping us were really nice and helpful during the escape. We're going to do Narco again eventually and doing Antidote next month for a friends birthday. read more
