Rainy day and trying to find something to do with the kiddos. Easy to make online reservations. Glow in the dark putt starts at 7pm - $19/person. Arrive just a little earlier and it's $17/person. There are snacks and drinks available for purchase. Love the SF landmarks. We had fun. Took us about an hour to get through the 18 holes.

A super cute date night spot that should be talked about more. It's a small course but the architecture is all based on San Francisco icons. It can definitely be a little hard to focus on playing the game because everything is so aesthetically pleasing that you want a picture or video of everything. Not only is there mini golf but there is also a boba shop that isn't half bad. Staff is also super friendly when explaining the rules and pricing. An extra bonus is that it's in the middle of ghiradelli square so there's plenty of things to do before or after your round of mini golf.

Neat little spot in Ghirardelli square. Surprisingly not too packed on a Sunday afternoon, but still good crowd. Cool San Francisco theming on each hole.

We had a team building event at Subpar Miniature Golf in Ghirardelli Square and we all had a blast. Everything about this place seemed to go perfectly. We had a room set up for our event, but everyone was playing mini golf, laughing and screaming at the great fun. There was a mini bar area set up, which had a pretty good draft beer selection. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and sharable plates that everyone seemed to enjoy. The view from the private room was incredible, welcome to SF and our postcard views. Service was attentive and everyone was really nice and accommodating. And last but certainly not the least impressive thing was the SF city landmarks and buildings as each hole design - It's so cool. I highly recommend Subpar Mini Golf, especially on a cold and rainy day like today in SF. Have some fun!

So fun! Great views. We came to Subpar after a layover in San Francisco and wanted to check out Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf; we didn't have enough time to explore everything but we were able to see everything from the windows of Subpar located in Ghirardelli square which has great restaurants, breweries, and Ghirardelli store. You can book online. We had chicken nuggets and a beer and it was great! Service was great very busy though they favor customers that book slot online, then walk ins are allowed but only if the holes are moving.

If you're in San Francisco and planning to visit Ghirardelli Square, set aside an extra 45 minutes to check out this mini golf spot--it's such a fun experience! My boyfriend and I haven't done the classic mini-golf date, so I really wanted to come here when I saw a TikTok video of it. For under $50 we played all 18 mini holes AND we each enjoyed a beer. The course itself isn't anything extravagant, but the experience was so cute, fun, and totally worth it. Highly recommend for a fun break in the middle of sightseeing!

Although the holes weren't the most innovative or extravagantly designed, the $14 price tag was extremely reasonable for the 1.5 hour fun my party had. A reservation was required and my time slot unfortunately didn't qualify for the glow in the dark option. There were complementary lockers near the entrance. Upon checking in, we were able to purchase boba, beer and fried appetizers. Strangely we didn't receive a receipt so we awkwardly stood near the boba stand until we saw something that resembled our order. Each hole had a cup holder and stand for the beverages and food. Each hole included a recreation of a famous SF attraction. Some paths were creative but I wished more of the routes weren't so straight forward and similar to each other. We were still playing when they shifted to the glow in the dark format. While the neon lights and music created a fun ambiance, it was difficult to play with the standard golf set up. Players with darker golf balls had difficulty tracking their ball as a result. I hope Subpar will revamp their courses and introduce more glow in the dark elements in the future. Besides the occasionally colorful light, it would be cooler to outline the attraction with glow in the dark paint. Although not perfect, Subpar was appropriately priced and my party left content.

This place is located inside Ghirardelli Square and I've been meaning to check out it out for some time. Definitely worth checking out at least once. 18-hole miniature golf place highlighting iconic landmarks in SF. And for only $14! Reservations recommended, but we got lucky and were able to snag a reservation. They also serve food, beer, wine, and some non-alcoholic refreshments, including boba! I think my only safety concern was that there should be some protective barrier at the end of the Sutro Tower course. One other group and ours ended up with the ball flying off course and into the walkway area. Aside from that, we had a lot of fun and what a great way to go sightseeing in miniature golf form!

This was my second visit, and I returned because I had such a great experience back in 2021. The location is fantastic--right in Ghirardelli Square with beautiful views of the ocean and Alcatraz. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which adds to the appeal. Each mini golf hole is well-designed with seating, stands for drinks, and space to write on your scorecard, making the experience really convenient. What really stands out is that each course showcases different SF landmarks. The pricing is also reasonable at $14 per person (for all ages), which is a great deal compared to many other mini golf spots. For two people, $28 for 18 holes was worth it. Some of the courses were challenging, while others felt a bit too easy, with straightforward shots. They also offer a range of drinks, including boba and alcoholic beverages . Last time, I tried their boba, which was just okay. This time, I opted for the Fog City Hazy IPA, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not usually an IPA fan because of the bitterness, but this one was lighter and more enjoyable--one of the best IPAs I've had. I've seen some reviews mention service issues, but I've had nothing but positive interactions. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. We came on a weekday around 2:30 p.m., and it wasn't busy at all, so there was no need to book ahead or make reservations. I loved seeing the local attractions reflected in the mini golf courses. It's a fun experience with great photo opportunities!

Eli and the rest of the staff at SubPar were awesome, and the venue is full of incredible sculptures. This place is part art exhibit , part SF city tour, and part golf entertainment. Kudos to the folks that built this place. Perfect spot to start or end a weekend getaway or family vacation to the beautiful city of San Francisco

Ask the Community - Subpar Miniature Golf

It says all ages for mini golf is $14 but are they gonna charge a 3 year old and 5 year old?

Kids under 4 years old are free with a paid adult.

How long does it take to finish the game?

It depends on how many people you have in your game, how many people ahead of you, and how fast you play. I'd say it usually takes about 45 mins to 1 hour to finish all the holes!

Do you have to be 21?

To play, no. But to drink, yes.

Do you need to make a reservation before hand?

no, its a pretty big place...maybe for a party

    Is there a bar?

    No a bar.

What choices are there for parking?

Street parking (4 hours free at the end of Beach street, or at the end of Van Ness Ave), or paid parking meters on nearby streets, or a paid parking garage under Ghirardelli Square (entrance on Beach Street, no tall vehicles)

    How many holes are there?

    There are 18 holes.

I was expecting it to be more expensive given it's in Ghirardelli Square but one round is 14 bucks a person.

Even with some friends having zero hand eye coordination, dexterity, experience with any sports, or experience playing mini putt at all, they still managed to have such a good time. They actually were really good at it! The obstacles are so much fun and so creative. There wasn't a single hole where we weren't cracking up laughing, amazed at how cool and fun they were, not too challenging but still challenging for everyone at every experience level. Absolutely unique holes to play that you will want to play them over and over again. There were lots of small groups like us and no one was rushed or waiting. Everyone was polite and knew to skip past us if we were stuck on a hole and come back to it when we were done. Very easy going atmosphere. Lots of fun props and spots to take pictures together. There's a bar with some really delicious food that we enjoyed. There's cocktails available with some extremely fun and unique Holey Moley signature drinks. We tried quite a few and they were delicious and fun. What we liked about it was that we could bring our drinks with us as we putted. There's a spot to place your drink at every hole which is incredibly helpful. I have to give a shoutout to the staff as well. All of them were very helpful, very friendly, and very funny. They helped make the experience a playful and fun experience all while being very fast and efficient in helping us with any of our needs. I recommend it to anyone wanting a unique and fun mini putt experience. Perfect for everyone of every skill level: kids, groups of adults, and would make a really amazing spot to go on a date. I absolutely rate Holey Moley 5/5 stars! Thanks Holey Moley for such a fun night out! I'll definitely be back again! #holeymoleygolf.usa @holeymoleygolf.usa #buzzybooth

However, my adult boys (21,29,36) did mention that while it was a fun experience, it was just a one time deal for them, due to high price point, and the lack of bells and whistles as experienced in the traditional mini golf course. The only glitch was that my oldest made the reservations for 4, but HM had a free ticket for mom promo, which the cashier had overlooked, and unable to process a refund, but gave him a bar credit instead. I'm familiar with the Palace Escape Games, but this venue added a nice whimsical and colorful mini-golf experience with an escape room twist to it! The experience can accommodate groups of 2-6 players, takes about 75 minutes or more to play, $30/player, and no experience required. You can make reservations in advance or do walk-in. I first became familiar with Lollyland through social media and thought it looked really cool. When I arrived, Lollyland didn't look as big as I had expected, and I thought maybe there were more courses behind the walls. Unfortunately, there were only 8 holes but what made this place unique is everything was run by tech. You get to select the appropriate club for your height and it notifies you when it's your turn by lighting up. Each hole had a special mission that players can achieve and after completing the hole, the team would receive a secret clue, which will be used later on. As a true Yelp Elite, I read other Yelp reviews stating Lollyland gave free candy. This wasn't quite the case during my visit - they had a vase of Dum Dums, but as soon as those were out, they did not refill them. I asked one of the staff members where the free candy was and they said management changed it and it depends on when they get a shipment. This was disappointing when the mini-golf theme is "Lollyland" and mimics a "Candyland" theme. I docked a star for this and the limited number of courses. It's a great spot to take kids, hang with friends, date night, or spend with family. If any of the staff members read this, please consider expanding the number of courses and incorporating more variety of candy and having it more available as part of the experience.

The section you play in is pretty cramped. It's not quite traditional mini golf, it's really more like arcade mini golf. It was a nice fun twist on things. You don't really do some problem puzzles til the very end. Wished there were some more of those elements incorporated into the experience. I also read from some earlier reviews that there was candy and stuff. But I guess too many people took advantage of that. There were no candies when we played sadly :( All in all it was fun. Just wished there were more holes and more spread out. Also wished it was shown more clearly who. That element was lacking a bit

From the very beginning, the customer service was lacking. Before finalizing my event, I visited the venue in person to ask questions and get a better understanding of the space. The Hispanic male employee I interacted with was unfriendly, unapproachable, and unable or unwilling to answer even basic questions, repeatedly telling me to contact sales. While I understand that sales handles bookings, I expected someone who works at the venue to be able to provide some level of assistance or information. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the same during the event. Several things that had been requested were not set up as discussed, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. What upset me most was that some of my guests arrived carrying water bottles, and this employee openly told me, in front of my guests, that he would kick us out if he sees outside drinks again. I found this incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The experience became so uncomfortable that many of my guests left early. For what was supposed to be a special occasion, the service and treatment we received fell far below expectations. Considering the amount spent, I expected professionalism, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I would not host another event here, nor would I recommend this venue to others looking for a place to celebrate an important occasion.

Castro Valley hosts this mini golf spot that's an affiliate of the Golfland family and features its two 18-hole ranges perfect for beginners and experts alike. After a few rounds on the green, consider venturing into their arcades to play some good old fashioned video games (Time Crisis and other dual player shooters, Mario Kart and other racing games, and fighting games) and skill games (like skee ball, table air hockey, and claw machines). Be wary, however, for those who have game cards from other Golflands, they're location specific so they won't work here unless you have one from this spot. Starting from the giant parking lot which is just off of a busy street, you'll make your way through the gates and stroll up the long walkway to the front desk where you'll register to get your clubs and balls (you'll get your choice from among a few colors). From there, you'll have your pick of the two courses, one for novices and one for the more adventurous. Make your way through the obstacles and mark your scorecard to determine the winner of bragging rights! We came for a birthday party and logistically, they have the main room amongst the beginner course which is well lit from all the open windows but I believe they have another space near the arcade for those looking for a more enclosed, private gathering. Once the guests arrived, they hosted an orientation and got the members all equipped and ready to go. The youngsters had a lot of fun and can't wait to return! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. You'll interact with them more at the arcades especially if you'll be redeeming prizes with your hard-earned digital tickets. The ticket values on the top tier prizes were pretty large but for frequent visitors or lucky winners, you can get some pretty neat stuff here. The mini prizes definitely reminded me of my times at the arcades when I was a kid, very nostalgic! Overall, Golden Tee Golfland is a well-maintained, family friendly environment conducive to an awesome time outdoors as well as an exhilarating experience soaking up the old school arcade vibe. We accumulated a ton of steps during our visit here and the kids could not stop hitting the greens to get their fluorescently colored balls into the holes. The obstacles are fun - there are water effects and moving doors and bridges. While most of them functioned as expected, there were a few hiccups with some like balls getting stuck or certain doors just not functioning as expected. For wetter seasons, the holes for the balls do end up pooling which makes picking the balls out a bit of an unpleasant endeavor. For being exposed to the outdoors, the place was in pretty good shape, however. It's a bummer that the Golflands don't have a unified system for the game cards as it just incentivizes families to just pick one and stick with it instead of venturing out and exploring the other amazing locations like this one. If you're a local, this is a great place to take a date or the family - it'll tee you up for a good time!
