We hosted 6 kids for my daughter's 13th Bday party here. They did 'The Antidote" room and had so much fun--it was the perfect level for beginners. Price per participant was lower than other places in SF. The lobby design is cool & fun -- like steam punk meets Edgar Allen Poe. The owner was super accommodating when I asked if we could rent a side room for cake/snacks/drinks afterwards--he said no problem. Before we arrived, they had set up a lounge area for us & roped it off for privacy; we got it for 1 hour. They brought in extra chairs, set up a big table with black table cloth for our food/drinks & let us decorate the rest. Parking was easy, lots of meters open on Sunday. Kids said they had fun & some want to come back for their own bdays. It was the perfect 13 yr old Bday spot for young teens -- I kinda felt like a genius for finding this cool & party-friendly venue! read more

We had so much fun for Halloween! Stylish place too and great location. The game was a bit short compared to the ones that ive played, (less rooms) but the staff who worked there was amazing and everything went smoothly. I've done over 100 escape rooms now, so I've become pretty picky about them, but the Murder Mansion room at Escapeolgy-SF was just a great experience. The puzzles were clever but logical, and the room was well built. Most of all, the people running it were very friendly and took plenty of time afterwards to talk to us about the room and the company and suggested other escape rooms in the city we should try. We had a large group (8 people) that did the Narco room together. I'm pretty experienced with escape rooms (20+) and we had one person who had done a couple, but everyone else was a newbie. I was wary of having so many people in a room, but Lauren said we'd probably be good with our group because there are a lot of different puzzles to work on in that particular room. It ended up being a fantastic experience! I really liked the different combinations of clues and puzzles. Some elements were easy to identify the kind of information we'd need, but then it was harder to figure out what to do with it. You definitely need to keep everything in mind as you go through the rooms because pretty much everything got used at some point, no matter how far along we went or how far back we had to go to get it. That was something that was in line with my preferences: I hate useless red herrings, but I enjoy when something gets used in an unexpected way. The Narco room was really great, and I definitely recommend it, but it's one that benefits from more people. I wouldn't do it with fewer than four people though, just so you can have multiple things being worked on at a time. Looking forward to trying Antidote in the future! read more

Went to Escapology for date night. We love escape rooms and have done quite a few. We love Escapology. Their rooms are detailed and make you use your brain without being over the top hard. We did, lost city, Mansion and Narcos. Lost city is good for beginners, got out with 15 mins to spare, a little easy for us but we still enjoyed it. Mansion was more difficult and definitely fun, we had 4 mins left and finally, Narcos, this one is pretty hard. We had 2 mins left and needed lots of help. Madelyn (hope I spelled it right) was our game master. She was soo helpful and friendly. We would go back just to say hi to her! We have one more to do here and rumor has it they are building a new room so we will also come back to do that. If you haven't been go! Rooms are private for just your party! read more

I had never done an escape room, but always wanted to. My 2 adult daughters and I went here and had a fun time. We did the pandemic room and I wasn't sure how difficult it was going to be, but we did manage to finish with about 30 seconds to spare. There were a few times where we almost gave up. They do give 3 clues without penalty and we needed all 3 clues. I would like to try another room sometime. read more

Normally I don't post reviews for the escape rooms i've been to, and this week i've been to like 10 different escape rooms but tonight just killed my mood for escape rooms ever. I don't wanna be rude or mean to the two girls who were our game masters but we played the room narco right after another party was finished. immediately when we walked in and the rules were announced the tv stops working. and the other foh girl walks in and starts fixing the tv and we weren't giving shit at all because like stuff like this just happens you can't control how technology works so yeah and she was nice giving us hints while in the room with us and told us she would add more time for us. finally the tv gets fixed and the music and timer pops on again and then all of a sudden the music starts fast forwarding and we realize they were taking away time bc we started when the tv was still getting fixed like lol okay so much for giving us more time but whatever totally understand. and then we needed a hint and that hint took us literally twenty mins or so to understand because they gave us the wrong hint. we didnt have everything for the puzzle just yet but they gave us the hint like we already did so instead of spending the time to figure out the actual room puzzles we spent it on a hint that we got from the game masters. and finally she realizes the mistake and we move on. we get to the other room and need another hint and they give us the hint for a problem we already started and was close to finishing. why bother having cameras in the room if you're not gonna look and see what puzzle we're working on to give us the correct answer. honestly after that we were just done and walked out of the room with forty more seconds, that experience was just wack. read more

The designs are very intricate with stories that felt very captivating throughout its entirety. My friends and I have been wanting to do an escape room for a long time. We planned this super last minute and we're able to get a book for the next day. When we got there they were able to get us into the room early and the place was very clean! You get a private room for your party and there a puzzles in the waiting room as well. We were told that the escape room had recently opened it's doors so that definitely excited me to see how creative these new rooms were. My group of 4 took on Narco (deemed the hardest room) and we loved the whole experience! Chatting with the staff showed me that they loved their craft and the passion and heart put into the room showed. This was our teams first escape room since COVID and the staff was very accommodating and made us all feel safe and a sense of normalcy during the experience! We were able to beat the room with ~4 minutes to spare (which earned us the best time on the board). I highly recommend Escapology and am looking forward to taking on more rooms in the near future! read more

My husband and I have done a bunch, at least around 15+ now. We did the Narco room - and they were great. It wasn't very high-tech the way you see in palace of fine arts for instance, but I really liked how many puzzles they had (and the variety of puzzles - although most of them leads to a lock/key type of a thing). They really set their room up according to the story, which is always really appreciated, and the person who were giving out hints were very attentive, so we didn't waste time when we asked for hints. And they were nice and enthusiastic about the escape rooms, which I love (it does enrich the experience). We finished with about 10 minutes to spare for two people (and 2 hints) so it's definitely do-able, and I think with about 4 people, it would have been better. I think they said that they currently have two rooms available and are hoping to expand. I really like that you don't just finish one room and move onto the next, but sometimes the puzzles you do in room 2 is needed to solve something in room 1, so I would keep track of all the things you are doing. Things to know: - They allow for 3 free hints, and then the rest of the hints, you get two minutes or something added to your overall time (it doesn't take away from your gameplay time, but if you care about the leaderboard) - I don't think there are team names, it's just based on the name of the person who first registered (first name and last initial) - the volume for the hints/time warnings were a little hard to hear - I wish they could improve that a little bit. - Some of their locks don't work very well, there were like 2-3 puzzles where we did it right, but for some reason it didn't work for one reason or another (they don't count toward your hints) but I appreciated that they noticed right away (I would talk out loud as you are doing the puzzles so that they could keep track of what you're doing as well) and they would ask us what our answers were and what we did. - Parking here is a little annoying because it's near the tourist spots (and around so many hills), but if you are okay with walking a couple blocks, it isn't too bad.. We can't wait to come back! read more

I just finished my second escape room here with a group of four friends (we're all 16-17). The first time, we did the mansion murder one, and our attendant was Tre, who was AWESOME and put up with all of our shenanigans and occasional stupidity. We went about a minute or two overtime, but Tre saw that we were really close to escaping and gave us those extra few seconds to get the satisfaction of escaping. The second time, we did the narcos escape room, and our attendants were Grant and Karen (mostly Grant, I think). They were just as awesome as Tre and super encouraging. We also had some random groceries from a recent picnic, and they let us store them in their fridge! As for the rooms themselves, my friend group tends to be pretty good at escape rooms, and the two we did here had an appropriate level of challenge for us--we escaped both of them, but with hints and only at the end of the hour. Both rooms were very fun and didn't feel cheap or anything, which is one of my pet peeves with escape rooms. All of the activities were super fun and very satisfying. The decor was also super cool, and the attendants offered to take team photos of us both times. In terms of pricing, it was WELL worth the money in my opinion. It came down to about $35 per person for my group (party of 5), for an hour of fun and excitement. I highly recommend the experience to anyone, and I hope to go back and try their other rooms sometime soon. Thanks for this awesome experience! read more
