    Curly cut hair
    Maris T.

I always do my curly cut hair at Esmeralda. Love how they treat my hair and the cut my curly hair. I don't need to spend 300 dollars on a special salón just to cut my hair. Been a customer for more than 11 years.

    Terrible.

I can only speak for my hair type: relaxed, short pixy cut, if that's you.. do yourself a favor and skip this salon. I wanted a relaxer and trim, not too hard right? Relaxer.. was ok, but about 1/2 way through I wanted to cry with how rough she was. My head and ears were in pain for how hard she combed my scalp and combing over my ears with the metal fine tooth comb (??!!) ouch! Cut.. again, just ok.. but when I got home I realized it wasn't short enough in the back and sides. There was no blend/fade. Especially I got a 8 year old boys bowl cut. And right and left sides were so different. I called and went back, but even tho I made an appointment no one was there to "fix" the mess up. The owner found someone to fix it on the fly but alas, she made it worse. No way to fix it now. Just have to walk around like this until it grows out. Buyer beware. The owners told me, "Go somewhere else."

This is truly THE worst salon on the planet.Filthy trashy ghetto pigs! Flys and bugs all over.the owner herself destroyed my hair literally. A simple color and highlight. My hair was FLAME RED SUNKIST RED it was spotty patches of color. I was crying.6 processes later and a burnt scalp I finally gave up on this butcher. There is a putrid chemical smell in my hair that has soaked into my pillow. She's a butcher AND her and staff dicussed everything in Spanish. Which I could understand. Animals! It should be shut down. It cost me $100 for her to destroy it $250 to repair what she did. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Fabulous job! Really happy with my blowout! I have. I have natural Curley hair and the blowout was great with no frizz!

A pretty good job on services but expensive. $85 for color touch up and $200 for keratin treatment. Majority of staff do not speak English.

Searching around for a new hair stylist and I came upon Mina via instagram. I am so glad I did…read morebecause she is an expert at her craft, and gave me exactly what I asked for. I already knew I loved the color when it was washed and wet. Happy to say that I will be definitely returning.

I'd like to update my review from the initial review I gave the salon when they first opened and I…read moregave them 5 stars. I've been going to this salon for years and have always had great experiences and service. Lately, I have been traveling quite a bit and haven't gone in about a year. During this time, my go to stylist, Allison, had left the salon. Because of this I was reluctant as I wasn't informed she was leaving and I wasn't sure who I'd trust at this point to style my hair. I wasn't assured the brand new stylist they have would be a good fit because she was the same level as Allison. Upon my arrival, I was excited to visit the salon once again and begin treating my hair with them. A very strange looking lady approached me and introduced herself as the stylist that would attend to me. I was extremely reluctant to go with her and trust she would know how to take care of my needs for my hair. I asked for a TRIM, conditioner, and blow out. This lady kept cutting my hair and cutting and cutting. I had long bangs that outgrew and I was okay with that, but she said she would clean it up. She CHOPPED the bangs off so much. They were about two inches above my eyebrows. Picture that for a second. So now, my hair was down to my back and now is chopped off to my shoulders and my bangs are completely ridiculous. When I stopped her from continuing cut, she grabbed a mirror and showed me the back of my hair. It was completely uneven; completely. So she began to fix it and continue cutting. She then whacked me on my eyebrow with the brush and she absolutely did not know how to properly part my hair as a professional stylist and blow dry my hair. She seemed like it was her first time blow drying. I have to question if she is a licensed stylist just by the entire experience. I approached the owner who took me to the back and evened the hair out and tried to blow try my hair to attempt to fix it. He asked if I gave her a photo of what I wanted and I said no because it was supposed to simply be a trim. No more than an inch and a half at most. I looked at how horrible my hair was at this point and kept saying, "I can't believe this." No discount and I paid ladies. That is the last money they will ever see from me. I will never return and I have spread the word. This is unacceptable, especially after I heard the owner and the manager talking badly about me as if I had no reason to be upset. This experience was traumatic and now I'm dealing with people asking me, "what happened to your hair?" It's nothing I can do and I have to just wait until my hair grows out a little. But the bangs? There's nothing I can do to even move it away or hide it. This is the WORST haircut I've ever received and I hope all reading this caution before coming here for a trim. Especially since there are other clients that have complained about bad haircuts here.

TL;DR: Lowlights rock…read more I had been to Jackie's years ago when I used to travel more frequently to the northeast. This time I had some downtime and swung by for a trim. She asked whether I want to try something different and suggested lowlights - I had never heard of the term but figured they're like highlights, just less obvious. The first and last time I had had toned down my hair (highlights, actually) was 22 years ago, but the AI photo apps had all suggested recently that I go blonde, so I thought this may be a first step in that direction. She said how long it takes depends on the individual's hair but should take no more than an hour, and I was intrigued. I can do an hour. I told her I really don't want that overbleached, orangish yellow color, and she was on the same page. We were going to aim for a light brown, but that could mean any number of things, right? It came out a copper-bronze that adds just a touch of light around my face. The color looks more obvious in certain angles depending on how my hair is tousled or parted, and I love how it shows up more prominently in the under-layers of my hair and when I put it up in a bun! This is a result of her gathering my hair, then taking some away in a zigzag before bleaching what remained in hand. I really like that she made the bleached hair blend with my natural hair. Btw, she's pretty opinionated and has a lot of comments, but knows her stuff. If you've ever been scared about toning down your hair color, give lowlights a try! It's very affordable here even with the wash and cut afterward. I was here a total of 1:30 including my wash and cut, during which three people walked in. She had to turn them away since she was doing my hair; one person came back at a time she had told him. Glad to see that it's a happening place but that she takes walk-ins like I did :D

After asking for the price she told me it'll be more than $150+ depending on if I wanted 8 or 10 and I'm old school lol that pricing threw me off because you can get some knotless box braids, literally a full head of braids for around that same price so I was definitely shocked that 8 BASIC CORN ROWS would cost over $150 or even close to $200! Especially since I wasn't asking for stitch braids. She also told me it's because I'm "adding hair and it will be about three hours to complete the service..." which again I've never had someone take THREE HOURS to do 8-10 cornrows, like what? THEN she proceeded to tell me "this isn't Harlem" mind you I'm not even from NYC or NJ so that was lame, and then she hung up the phone on me while I was still speaking. Although the price was high I would have considered keeping my appointment and just paying that unnecessary fee for 8-10 regular cornrows but unfortunately I couldn't because she hung up the phone and pissed me off. VERY TACKY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. She kept hinting at me not being able to afford the price that she is overcharging meanwhile you can be both shocked that something is expensive and still be able to afford it, so that didn't even make sense. She thought she ate with that but whomp whomp it didn't hit over here LOL. So, I called back and 100% called her out of her name because I felt she was disrespectful by saying "this isn't Harlem" and hanging up on a potential client. Then she went out of her way to text me as if she wasn't rude and unprofessional towards me on the phone, LOL. Moral of the story, the owner or whoever answers/makes appointments needs etiquette class or a good pop in the mouth :) You don't get to talk to people however or assume/call them broke because they don't wanna be overcharged for some simple straight back cornrows. Highly recommend finding another salon where the workers know how to keep it cute.
