I have been coming down to Cabo and the Baja area for 30 years. Actually had a place over on the pacific ocean that I regret selling years ago. BUT......Esperanza is on a different level and if you have the means....by all means I HIGHLY recommend staying here. The ocean view suites are stunning with amazing views. Service is the finest you will find. You have your own concierge who knows you when you arrive. Everyone there is friendly and wants to make your stay the best. Location is the best. The beach is great to swim. The pools are great. The restaurants offer varied options....although we only ate at one and it reminded me of a Luau. Gold courses close by. Pickleball and Tennis courts. Basketball courts. Great gym and spa. With so many options and so many new places popping up...I think Esperanza still is the tops with it's gorgeous grounds and stunning service. read more

This place was an absolute dream. The spa, the FOOD, I am not kidding when I say I ordered the grilled oysters like 5 time a day. It's easily the most flavorful thing I have ever had. The property is just gorgeous, as are the rooms. It's a huge property & the staff are so efficient at getting you to & from in carts if you choose not to walk. The gym is amazing, they have this awesome stretching machine in there as well as pilates equipment. I would stay here again without hesitation. I had the best experience both times I stayed here, the first time in December 2012 then we were invited back the following year so December 2013. We had a magnificent suite with a fully stocked kitchen and tons of tequila! I have wanted to come back for years and here I am! She showed us our ocean front room which was just perfect with a beautiful terrace and jacuzzi. They also got us some more margaritas and chips/salsas which was nice touch. The service was impeccable throughout our stay. The views from this hotel from the poolside, Covina Del Mar (highly recommend for dinner) and Le Palapa were amazing. My husband booked a stay at Esperanza for my birthday MLKJ weekend in January 2023; we stayed Thursday through Monday. We stayed in Villa Silvana and had an ocean view--just gorgeous! Upon our arrival, the head butler, Jorge, greeted us and got us settled in our rooms. We had three bedrooms and three bathrooms--the primary suite was ours, our nanny had her own room and bathroom, and our 19-month-old son had his own room and bathroom. Jorge was our main contact during our stay; we could contact him at any time for help via text. On the plane ride there, all I could think about was chips, salsa, and guac. Imagine my surprise upon arrival when we walked in the villa and saw fresh, homemade chips, guacamole, and pico de gallo. SO GOOD! The staff was so pleasant and helpful at every point during our stay. The food was excellent--we ate at La Palapa on Thursday, Cocina del Mar Friday morning and evening, and Las Estrellas Saturday night. We also got food by the pool from La Terraza Americana on our last day. My husband booked me a 90 minute massage on my birthday (Sunday), and the spa was so relaxing--plunge pools, nice lounge chairs, refreshing drinks post treatment...the works! On my birthday, housekeeping gave me balloons and red velvet cake on my bday, too! During turn down service one evening, we were so touched to see an embroidered beanie and blanket with our son's name on it! SO CUTE! The villas come fully equipped with a stove, microwave, fridge, washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher. Truly your home away from home! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Esperanza. Incredible property that is impeccably maintained and enhanced with the excellent service. There's no access to sandy beach from the hotel but the dramatic cliffside views are stunning. The restaurants serve tasty albeit expensive food that's expected for a captive resort audience; I particularly liked the shrimp burger. Most tables offer amazing ocean views. Rooms are well appointed. Spa is an expensive treat; I loved the outdoor shower and co-ed relaxation area. The post- reatment drink and fruit/vegetable plates were a welcomed surprise. read more

The pool area has in-water chaise lounge chairs and private luxury cabanas. Down at the resort's private beach guests can relax in palapa-style cabanas with daybeds built for two. 2nd timer here... This is our 2nd time here at this resort. First time we stayed in the condos and this time in the residences villa 203. I absolutely love it. The view was breathtaking. This villa is perfect for a large group. We are a group of 15 and everyone was so comfortable. Our concierge "Lucas" is very nice and super accommodating. He went up and beyond our expectations. Condo: was a beautiful 3 bedroom and great resort amenities. Villa: I'll let the pictures speak for itself but the common area was huge, beautiful and comfortable. We spent lots of great family time together. The view is amazing and breathtaking. We had the beach right at our footsteps. Ps This resort even offers pickle ball courts you can reserve per hour.. They even have private lessons. The guys (Fernando and Maurcio) are really good players as well as teachers. =) read more

Doesn't hold a candle to Waldorf Pedregal or Las Ventanas. The service just isn't up to par compared to the top tier properties in Cabo San Lucas. We were positioned awkwardly on a ground floor and were able to hear noise above us day and night. When complained to staff, no resolution was made or offer to move us. I have been going to the Esperanza for 14 years now. I have always had an amazing experience over all. Staying on the residence side of the main loop coming into the resort the pools are amazing though I find myself spending all of my time at the largest one the furthest away from the beach with an occasional trek up the waterfall steps to the swim up bar for a light lunch or drink. For the restaurants beyond pool service La Palapa might have declined a little but Cocina del Mar seems to have gotten better. The place remains spotless and there is enough access to everything you can think of to keep your time on the resort as relaxing and as occupied as you wish. Though there is nothing particularly special about them it is nice that the cabanas poolside are there for the taking on a first come basis without any charge. So why four stars and not five? Could it be COVID, could it be the acquisition by Auberg, could it be just the change in times with a stronger Mexican Peso? I don't know what the answer is but the service is less visible (ultimately meaning less attentive) poolside. In the past someone was almost reading your mind when you needed something whereas now there are times you look up and wonder where did everyone go? It is not enough to ruin the over all experience but if you are a long time Esperanza visitor it is certainly enough to notice. read more

Food I must say was piss poor at best and extremely expensive. First night we go to a Mexican buffet for 80 bucks a person, who really wasn't worth eating we had a Barrett bottle of wine and the total bill was $480, Toro was pretty good but very strange music was way too loud to carry on a conversation had the seafood enchiladas, which weren't bad but know what you expect at this type of property. Everything you do is nickel and dying. You have to pay to play pickle ball, tennis, etc. if they could get their food in line this is five star all day long. read more

Where do I begin. Mario Lopez at the resort was in constant communication with us from the time we booked the trip to the time we got into the shuttle to leave to the airport to go home. As others have said, yes you get what you pay for. This place is not cheap and it doesn't feel cheap. Its a luxury, 5 star resort and you really feel it when you stay here. We got an ocean view, casita with plunge pool and it was one of the most breath taking rooms we have stayed in. Huge bathtub with salts and scrubs for you to use, huge 2 person shower that overlooks the water, king bed with super comfy pillows, huge patio with a piping hot Jacuzzi, what more could you want! we had a little bit of a hiccup with our room and a leak, it took a while for someone to come help but once they did, they made up for it with champagne, dessert and comped a meal off of our bill. Hands down the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in. The level of absolute detail at this place is not comparable to any other place in the US. Each room is extremely spacious and all complimentary products come in reusable bottles. They have hammocks outside of certain rooms, a turn down service at night, and even a set of binoculars so you're able to see the whales that pass by from time to time!! I was in absolute awe and how attentive the service and the rooms were, exceeded beyond any expectations and would definitely return!! It was amazing experience staying here. Rooms were all catered with much help with the concierge. Had stayed here the past weekend with my family. Every room had its own little balcony. Master bedrooms had a jacuzzi, shower and extra closet space. Living rooms were combined with dining rooms, art decorated the walls, kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, water dispenser, napkins, etc. Rooms were always rearranged neatly after each day, beds made, bathrooms were cleaned (garbage taken out), etc. I do have to say that the room we were in had a slow shower. The first day we stayed, the water ran cold for a good 10 minutes. We called the operator and the person who came to fix it stood there for a good while and then we found out we would have to wait a while longer for the water to turn hot. Also do keep in mind there are cockroaches even if its the cleanest place. All the buildings were structured to be around a giant pools. The pool in front of our building had its own swim up bar which was pretty cool. We ordered there one time during the weekend we were there and got our order steadily. It was mainly 1-2 people cooking so food took a while to come. Workers are also nice and want to expand your knowledge of Spanish. Due to the kind of rooms that were ordered by my sister, each of our suites got a golf cart. That was lots of fun! Instead of walking everywhere which we still did, the golf cart sped up our travels. My boyfriend and I did a night run just driving around the resort to see what was around. Fitness center was located above the concierges office. If you wanted to go anywhere out of the resort the concierge was your best person to arrange that. They also had specific things happening for each day which they left in a pamplet for each suite, along with information regarding activities. When you get closer to the ocean or walk through the gardens which seem to be daily trimmed, neatly arranged - it's just nice and relaxing. Walking closer to the water, it is a bit rockier but you can get the most beautiful photos during the sunset or sunrise. Water I would suggest not going in besides to have it wash up to your feet as it is quite rocky within here. On the plus side you get to see the crabs scurrying and jumping across the rocks. Reviewed as Flopsie the Corgi: My criteria for vacation are specific: beach, top notch grass and grounds, minimal walking, and a butler to attend to all my needs. Beach While not swimmable, the beach is pristine and completely private. In fact, the resort removes all the seaweed and other not photofriendly items, ie, broken crab shells. Workers groom the sand in the morning so I can leave my pawprints on it for my hoomin to take perfect Instagram photos. Impeccable!!! There was one morning where the ladies in super tight clothes were doing their weird bending and stretching poses. My hoomin said it's yoga on my beach. I proceeded to dig a hole and peed in it just to let these ladies know that they are on my beach and they play by my rules. Yeah, you know, Queen B*tch in town. Grounds I reward the hoomins by giving them fresh brown produce every 6-8 hours. The humans gather the rewards in the little bags and store them in a container back home. However, at Esperanza, there are no containers on grounds so my hoomins would scoop their rewards and the butler or another member of the Esperanza service team would magically appear within seconds. My hoomins would hand them a reward. I believe this is what they call "tipping". Otherwise, the grounds are pristine. I dont even smell any other dog. It is clean and well groomed nature. My hoomins didnt yell at my once from trying to eat things off the ground... because there was nothing to eat. As a dog, the lack of edible crap on the ground displeases me. Golf Cart My favorite part of the vacation. I seriously dont understand why we dont have golf carts at home. I dont even have to stick my head out the window to feel the wind on my face. Mind literally blown. Attentive Staff I travel everywhere with my personal staff, the butler/chef aka mom, and the chauffer/bell hop/photographer aka dad. But mom and dad still need help... with stuff (i guess mom and dad really aren't that useful afterall). Esperanza goes above and beyond to make sure all guests (even the furry ones) are cared for. When I walked into my Casita, my food and water bowls were already waiting for me, along with a dog bed with a clean cover. Every where I went, I was offered a bowl of water. I was taken care of at my beachfront cabana. The staff even laid down a clean towel for me. Fresh fruit delivered daily to our room. My chef cut up the bananas and apples for my breakfast. All the restaurants we went to had outside seating but under a gigantic umbrella. Ahhh... I sure love those who can properly manage nature. When we were getting ready to go home, Hector, my favorite staff member, gave me a small gift, a baby wooden sea turtle. He said the big turtles come to Esperanza to lay eggs. The baby turtles go off to sea and return to the Esperanza when they grow up. I ate the wooden sea turtle so must return to get another from Hector. Would I go back? I never wanted to leave in the first place. read more

Spent over $2,000 /nite for a deluxe Ocean suite. Sadly we arrived and there is a building blocking half of our ocean view, and large trees blocking most of what was left of a view. We enjoyed a 4 night stay in late October, early November. Highs were in the 80's and lows in the 70's. Our casita was very large with beautiful ocean views and a large jacuzzi on the patio. Casita #27 was the number. I saw a previous review complaining about the price and comparing Esperanza to the One and Only Palmilla Resort. We have stayed at both and where there are similarities, there are differences also. Our room at The One and Only was around $1000 a night. My wife found a special online for our room here at approximately $350 a night so a big difference there. As far the beach goes, The One and Only has a nicer beach if the texture of the sand is important to you. If the view is what your looking for, I think Esperanza wins hands down. Beautiful rock formations with waves crashing over them and many covered cabanas which are included at no cost. They are tended by excellent servers who take very good care of you. This place is pricey though. A small margarita runs $20 and food isn't cheap either. But The One and Only is even more expensive. The staff at both resorts are outstanding. Our personal concierge "Monica" was the best we've ever experienced. She greeted us upon arrival and after taking us on a tour of Esperanza, she escourted us to our room and explained all the amenities. We did not get this level of service at Palmilla, even while paying almost 3x's as much for our room. Everyone of the staff from GM to Housekeeping, spoke excellent english so communication was very easy. One last shout-out, we used Esperanzas transportation, and although it was costly compared to perhaps a taxi, it was safe and the vehicles used are new, large Escalades or Suburbans. Our driver "Ezekiel" was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the Resort and Cabo San Lucas. Refreshments and cold face towels were supplied as soon as we entered the car. So, you can find specials that can cut the cost of accommodations at Esperanza in half if you look for them. Go in the off season as we did, the weather and prices are best around then. The One and Only is also a beautiful Resort, however, we enjoyed our stay at Esperanza equally as much, with better views, at a lot cheaper price. read more

Spent 4 days in a Ocean view 1 bedroom suite. Jacuzzi on the balcony is a nice touch. The staff is the fantastic, food is good. I enjoyed the spa every morning. many pools to enjoy. My wife and I spent half a day in a pool with no one else around. 2 pools over by the condos are always empty. This is a great resort. I would recommend it to anyone that want to spoil themselves. only thing is you can not swim in the ocean. read more

Where do I begin... just got back 2 days ago and I'm still in la la land. I've been to Cabo for three times already and have stayed in high end resorts but this one by far beats the other two resorts with its top notch service, food, beauty, cleanliness, amazing views, Ahhhhh and that gorgeous restaurant on the cliff (Cocina Del Mar) Just amazing!!!!!! From the minute you step a foot in this secluded resort you feel nothing but pampered and special. The rooms are gorgeous and updated. Husband and I looked forward to turn down service every single night. All the lanterns in your balcony and around your jacuzzi got lit along with your room candle oil diffuser making your room smelling like lavender. The pools are super clean and updated as well. We only hung out at the adult pool which was one of my favorite pools. I couldn't get enough of their guacamole and fish/shrimp ceviches and seafood tacos. This isn't a resort where you see young crowds partying drinking and being loud. It's an elegant and classy resort!!! And you definitely get what you pay for :) Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Overpriced by a wide margin. In fact, its a rip off. Firstly, it is in the same price and category as the One and Only, which after staying at both, is a misplaced assignment. This is no Palmilla and certainly no Pedregal. It has no spa or ocean access, like all the other top tier Cabo properties. You need to have a sauna and/or a steam room to have a spa or call yourself one. This has neither of those. No plunge pool, nothing but a group of treatment rooms for services at a very high rate from second tier providers. And again, no ocean access. Their food and beverage is quite ridiculously priced yet mediocre. $25 for two eggs and a side of bacon. $12 for juice. Another $10 for coffee, but with a service charge and mandatory gratuity on top. So expect breakfast for 2 to cost $150 or so. Have a couple of small frozen Margaritas each while lying by their pool (which is cramped unless you spring another $200 for a cabana) and again, expect another $200 for your drinks on top of that. A day by the pool with a few drinks each is roughly $500 so by the time we left the resort, we hadn't so much as order room service, eat dinner at the resort or even get drunk - but somehow our food and beverage bill came to over $2500 for our 3 day stay. Thats over $700 per day. And no, it isnt exceptional. Its rather mediocre. So while the grounds are nice and lush, you pay for a room with pool access. No ocean, no true spa and a massive bill for virtually anything. Hell, its $300 for a ride to the airport and back. For me, at this price point - I left disappointed. I wont be returning to the Esperanza next time, but our old favorite - the Palmilla. Same price, but superior in every way shape and form. You dont leave feeling ripped off or even close - but I did at the Esperanza. After our experience at the Jerome in Aspen, I think our time and experience with the brand Auberge is well.....fini. read more

I have been to Esperanza, 6? 7 times now? It is always so amazing, I've lost count as it feels like my Cabo home. The staff here are always above and beyond- from check-in, to dining, to housekeeping, to the pool and swim up bar- each sets the gold standard for what service should be. The grounds are unbelievable and Esperanza goes to great lengths to keep everything immaculate and makes just enough changes and updates to keep things fresh and interesting. We enjoy looking for the small changes on each visit. The accommodations are perfect- we have stayed in either 2 or 3 bedroom villas each time and they come equipped with a full kitchen, inside dining table, large den area and 2 balconies, one with a large dining table and the other with a table and 4 large chairs- perfect for relaxing. We really love to enjoy the outdoor seating for meals, morning coffee and just hanging out. The Welcome drink (Cabo Green) has become a favorite the entire week. And Room service is always amazing. I highly recommend their guacamole, grilled mahi tacos, any grilled fish they have and even spaghetti bolognese when you need a break from all of the authentic cuisine. My only wish is that they would bring back the Tres Leches because it was one of our favorites and has not been on the menu the past few times. And I am a little jealous of the straw figures another guest posted from their visit that were left daily. But really, that is just me being extra. Fantastic resort, all around. Located what seems to be roughly between El Pedregal and the turn to the airport, Esperenza has everything you will need for a comfortable stay in Cabo. Multiple restaurants located on the premises. Lovely natural walking paths around the resort and surrounding desert. There is lovely greenery around the property and multiple pools for all ages. Not a party atmosphere so don't have to worry about noise - probably the loudest event are the multiple fireworks early in the evening for various celebrations. read more
