I've been a long time customer and always had a service contract. Things operated like a top for…read moremany years, but it all seemed to start going downhill about a year ago. Carol used to answer the phones and she would proactively call me during each spring and fall for the regular tuneup. She always scheduled the appointments on days where she knew a tech was going to be in the area. It never took more than a week or two to schedule an appointment. Usually it was a few days. On a couple occasions it was same day or next day. Then last fall I realized I never got the call from Carol and it was late fall. I called to schedule an appointment and they were booked a few weeks out. The appointment day came and went and nobody ever showed up. Turns out one of the techs died. So I tried to set up another appointment and they made me wait a few more weeks. By the time the tuneup happened, the heat had already been in use for weeks. I figured maybe they were just having a rough time dealing with the death. This spring I again received no call to remind me about the tuneup. When I called, I had to wait over a month for an appointment. The way I see it, it doesn't really matter how good the service techs are if this is how they treat contract customers. After they came for the spring tuneup, I decided not to renew the contract. They clearly don't have their act together anymore and I've lost faith that they could ever address an issue promptly. If it takes over a month to do a tuneup, I don't even want to know how long I'd have to wait to have them fix an actual problem. As for the tuneup service itself, it's generally very good, although lately, I find them trying to upsell me on gadgets and stuff for my central AC. They are professional, wear the booties to avoid getting the carpet dirty, and they've been using a tablet computer to do the payment, which is worlds better than how they used to do it all by hand. Still, I just can't get past the weeks of waiting for an appointment. I'd expect them to have resolved any staffing issues by now. I think I'm going to try another outfit in the fall.

He relentlessly tried to snake it out for about 2 hours but it wasn't really doing the trick. He said I needed to have my septic company install a clean out and have him come back to jet the line, which I did. When he returned, he went in with a camera and explained there were a few dips in the pipe where waste water and sludge collected and froze during this past winter creating the blockage. In addition the pipe is not buried deep enough to keep it from freezing, yet if any deeper, waste wouldn't flow to the tank (it's a very old system). Considering the time spent, I feel they were fair with their pricing. No upselling. I also appreciate the time he took on the first visit and the 2nd to investigate and explain the issue.

My husband asked what time he could come, and he said he would be there within 14 minutes. My husband said no problem, I just want to know because we have dogs and I will lock them up. We have two Rottweilers, one is a puppy, and the other is 2 1/2. I know, rotties have a bad rap, but it should really be the owners that have a bad rap-on that note, we've spent excessive time and a lot of training with our dogs, and we recognize that dogs, regardless of the breed is not to everyone's liking. But at any time that someone comes over, we always put the dogs in their crates individually. Nothing changed with this one. The man announced he was coming, the dogs each got locked up in their crates, the gentleman by the name of Rick came in he asked my husband where the laundry room was, my husband walked him there, he checked out the laundry room, he told my husband to flush the toilets, run the water, came back out, looked at the dogs locked up in their individual crates and told my husband he'll come back when the dogs aren't here. Really? What was the problem? We've had many workers come to the house and no one has ever done that, we were in an awful terrible bind, and we needed to be snaked because we cannot run water in our house right now without a flood and sewage discharged. I will never ever call upon this person's service and to all those looking for help, if you have a dog, think twice, even if you take preemptive manners in your hands as we carefully did, this guy will abandon you and leave you in complete despair! Really a disappointment!!Again, we took the initiative and had the dogs crated and there was no need to do that-he asked to call when the dogs are not here, so we will probably give him a call in about eleven years!

Our first experience with Plumbums was excellent - we had an emergency issue, Jim was able to come…read moreout within an hour or two and get it fixed, and he was on his way. When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.
