I'm here visiting from the Pacific Northwest. I was thrilled to see that my family's neighborhood had, what appeared to be, a cozy espresso bar nearby. The atmosphere is indeed cozy with quaint outdoor seating as well. Unfortunately, I gave their iced matcha latte two tries, on two separate days. Sadly, their version of an iced matcha latte is watery and lacks the matcha flavor, despite being green. It just tastes like milk. It takes a lot of flavored syrup to make this drink taste better, and syrupy drinks aren't good. The first time I had it, I was surprised to be chewing on ginger pieces that were floating in the bottom of my drink. Luckily, I like ginger and, more importantly, I'm not allergic. I passed it off as maybe their unique twist on a matcha latte. When I went back for a second try, I asked them to not put ginger in the drink, to which I was told ginger should have never been in the drink and the whisk they used was likely not fully cleaned from a drink that contains ginger. Uhh, gross! And not a good practice for a restaurant serving the public. I forgave the first mistake and ordered another iced matcha latte with lavender. I get back to my family's house, take a sip, and notice they omitted the lavender. Had to walk back to get it corrected. The young lady taking orders was very apologetic and swift in correcting it. However, her colleague wearing a bandana on her hair was not as kind and seemed to be irritated at my kind request it be fixed. Both of my experiences have been off putting and I simply will not be back! Thank goodness the neighborhood has alternatives like Over The Moon and Qahwah Valley. Came here for the New Orleans Cold Brew. Nice spot, pretty popular on a weekday. The cashier was nice. They offer coffee, tea, pastries, food, alcohol. I like that there was at least one gluten free bakery item. I didn't stay, I got it to go. I almost don't order from here based on the expensive upcharge for nondairy milks, but it's not often that I have New Orleans style cold brew. read more

We stopped by Espresso 77 while waiting for our car to be serviced at Koeppel. The walk from the shop was a bit long, but honestly, quite pleasant. This café has great reviews for its coffee, though the food tends to get more mixed feedback--and I'd say that checks out. My husband and I both ordered the Honeybee, an iced latte with vanilla and honey, and it was excellent. The espresso was smooth, and the vanilla and honey added just the right amount of sweetness. No need to adjust anything--it was perfect as is. Food-wise, I had a ham and cheese croissant that just didn't deliver. It was bland, oddly flavorless, and lacking the savory punch you'd expect. My husband ordered a raisin bagel and wasn't impressed either--he said it just wasn't good. The café itself is spacious with a good amount of seating, including a large communal table in the center that's clearly designated for laptop use. I noticed quite a few reviews complaining about their laptop policy--but honestly, I think the rule makes sense. Laptops are allowed on weekdays at the center table only, and not at all on weekends. And after this visit, I totally get why. There's a tendency for people to treat coffee shops like co-working spaces--camping out for hours, taking Zoom interviews, pacing while on business calls, and just dominating the space with little regard for those who might be stopping in for a quiet break or to catch up with a friend. During our visit, someone next to me was literally on a business call, walking around the café and in and out of the shop, like it was their personal office. Another person was mid-video interview. The entitlement is kind of wild. Some folks think ordering two items earns them the right to set up shop for eight hours. It's disruptive, and it crowds out patrons who simply want to enjoy a drink without feeling like they've stepped into someone else's workday. Biggest thanks to the owner for putting a stop to the laptop free-for-all--because I came for caffeine, not to be trapped in a co-working circus with Zoom interviews, business calls, and dudes pacing like it's their startup headquarters. Sit down. That said, I'd absolutely recommend this place for its coffee--it really was great. The food could use some improvement, but the staff was nice, and the overall vibe is solid if you can find a seat not taken over by someone's entire remote work setup. read more

Also, its a coffee shop but you can only use your laptop at the center table and you arent allowed to use their plugs to charge , interesting business model. One of my coworkers had given me a $10 gift card for Christmas and I finally had the opportunity to use it. I ordered a caramel frappe and a brownie. The caramel frappe was so watered down that it tasted like crushed iced with a splash of caramel. The brownie was good but I feel like they could have at least warmed it up. I've passed by this little cafe for years now, finally had an opportunity to walk in while meeting up with an old friend! The cafe is a block right off Roosevelt Ave, and nestled into the more residential portion of Jackson Heights. The environment is quiet with everyone's conversations at a low or with their heads buried in their books or laptops. It's a very calm atmosphere. The service was quick and lovely too. I got the chai latte and chicken pesto panini... or should I say two because I ended up splitting the second panini with my friend over how good it was! The chai latte was okay, not particularly anything ground breaking, but I would definitely highly recommend the panini! Their pastries on the other hand are always GREAT, as long as you get there early and catch the fresh ones. Chocolate croissants, almond croissants, muffins, ... they are always so good. Loved getting oat latte here as well with a nice latte art + the staff (Hi Pearl & Sylvia!) is always friendly to us -- always nice seeing them there in the morning with a smile on their faces and greeting us and everybody. Been here a few times and I only had their lattes to go cause of the pandemic. They tasted pretty great and Their honey bee latte was my favorite. Today was my first time finally dining in because I just really enjoy my espresso drinks more when I sit down and have it. So I came here with the intention to do some work on my laptop but they have this weird policy where you can't use your laptop cause it was a weekend day. I know some cafes do that and I'm not exactly sure what the reason is. They did say however that since it wasn't too busy that I could use it on the big shared table. Appreciated it but I needed an outlet since my laptop was dead so I just decided to have my drink and leave, which was unfortunate. Aside from that slight inconvenience, I enjoyed the rest of my experience. I ordered the coconut kiss, which is an espresso with half n half and coconut but in the size of a cortado. I was really craving a quality espresso drink and this satisfied it, which I was surprised cause I didn't expect this in my neighborhood. It was silky smooth (which was the type of drink I was really craving at the moment) with great tasting espresso and coconut working together. Coconut and espresso just work so well together. I'm definitely coming back. Probably not to do work on the weekends which was unfortunate cause I was hoping this could be a new addition to my list of study spots close to me. I'll try to see how it is on the weekdays I don't really like to be rushed when I'm studying at a cafe so let's see. But maybe to just enjoy a drink and chill or catch up with a friend. I am just giving this place a five star review because I am LMAO-ing so hard at other people's reviews about the laptop policy. However, I did not go there to go work on a computer. There's a common thread of getting sandwiches and wraps that first of all arrive warm but badly put together and hard to pick up. Today's wrap took the booby prize, though: Spinach, dates, goat cheese -- I was hoping for flavorful and healthy -- in a thick, inappropriately heavy whole wheat wrap. To add insult to injury, the typical tiny side "salad" (a few greens and a couple of very thin slices of radish, with a balsamic dressing) obviously came from the bottom of a bowl -- limp and soggy, oozing dressing. And the dressing got under that already soggy and heavy wrap. I couldn't pick it up to eat it, and wound up not finishing anything. So if you want coffee or latte, etc., this is a good choice. If you're thirsty, there's a good variety of offerings, and it's nice to support a locally owned and operated business. But if you're hungry, look elsewhere. read more
