Let's start with I LOVE DOUGHNUTS! Okay. For years I have been faithful to a doughnut shop around cook street and thought they were the best doughnuts ever, but..... I can across this little shop when I was working in the area. The difference is HUGE. Example - their cookies and cream doughnut has chunks, big chunks of "oreo" on it. The other I'm used to has just sprinkles of the "oreo" cookie crumbs. The glaze is a big difference as well. I can't describe it, you just have to come find out for yourself. I am going to try their Apple fritter and then I'm going to finish this pos! YUM!

Vanilla with sprinkles, Oreo, Glazed, Nutella filled, lemon filled, and cream filled.

A very popular bakery in downtown Victoria, and it's easy to see why. We stopped by for pastries…read moreand coffee. The shop itself is quite small, with only couple seats along the wall. Everything in the display case looked delicious, but we decided on the lychee raspberry & rosewater pastry, the pistachio ganash tart and the pork & fennel sausage roll. The pistachio tart was fresh with a rich nutty flavor, though it took a little finesse to eat because the filling kept wanting to spill out. My favorite was the lychee raspberry & rosewater pastry. It was flaky, with a delicate sweetness from the fruits and a subtle floral note from the rosewater. You can really taste the dedication in these pastries. I'd recommend going early in the day as many of their items tend to sell out quick.

We bought a cake here for my mom's 70th birthday and were so impressed! We chose the "Crusty…read moreForest"--their take on a Black Forest cake--and it was absolutely delectable. What we loved most was that it wasn't overly sweet. It had a wonderful, strong fruit component from the cherries that balanced perfectly with the chocolate and a light, thin layer of whipped cream. The cake itself was incredibly moist and executed with such care. It was a total hit for the celebration! I only wish we lived in Victoria so this could become our regular go-to spot for special occasion cakes.

FOOD Almond Croissant: sure it's more than $5, but it's decently-sized and loaded to the gills with almonds and powdered sugar while still being flaky-fresh - yum! The real value is the day-old section: three pastries randomly placed in a bag - these pickups worked for us: - Chocolate Roll: yum! - Apple-carrot Muffin: yum yum, and still soft! - Spinach Feta Danish: a great savoury treat! Note: for those of you with kids: they have giant Smarties-based cookies for $2.75! === 3. SERVICE It's great and patient, and full of recommendations. What more could you ask for! === 4. ENVIRONMENT A dim, aged interior awaits you - but it's really just enough space for you to walk in and admire the offerings in a couple of display cases while watching the staff behind the counter whip up more bakery delights. You could bring wheelchairs and baby strollers in here, but there would not be much room for anyone else during your visit. Parking is best found on one of the nearby streets - be careful not to park in the lot in the back, which is reserved for the cafe and other businesses next door.

When you walk in, the smell of bread & pastries will have you immediately pull out your wallet, or should I say cell!? There's plenty of baked goodies here - bread, pastries, pies, cakes, with gluten & vegetarian options available. Great service & comfort in this cozy bakery. Come prepared to grab & go. I got the a Peach & a Berry Tart. Both were on point top notch. For Victoria, I'm going to rank this a close second to Crust Bakery - see my review. Now there may be more out there in greater Victoria as I continue to explore, so do stay tuned.
