Adorable friendly little bakery that serves the local community. The little lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful to this first timer. The latte and hot chocolate were perfectly made. I really wanted to like this place as both of the ladies working there were so nice but the day old muffin I got- while it tasted okay, was burnt on the bottom and my mom's oat milk latte was so yucky she ended up pouring it out. She said it tasted burnt and when she poured it out there was lots of coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup. Sadly we won't be going back while we're here visiting. read more

SO disappointed! Visiting Sooke for the first time on an after holiday relaxation getaway - visited their website to see big hearty sandwiches made with real roasted meats and tasty treats so we went to check them out. placed our order$15 for a grilled roast beef panini- (they asked if I wanted it warmed up???) oh well, small town and if it's as good as the picture... will be worth it. got back to our place and opened up our bags to what looked like a 7-11 sandwich on a bad day! Always try to support local, but wow, just wow! Hard pass for the future and would not recommend! read more

I was very disappointed at the baked goods. Usually there are only one or two duds, but unfortunately all the pastries that my friend and I purchased were bad. We brought our little boxes home to have with our afternoon tea. Thankful for the tea as everything tasted a week old. The almond tart was hard and dry. The carrot cake tasted more like an old dry spice cake with wannabe cream cheese icing than the moist carrot cake that you would get anywhere else. I thought the little lemon cheesecake would be good, especially at an overpriced $6, but no. That too was a disappointing failure. We were in Sooke for a small getaway and in searching I found some very nice reviews for this place. We stopped by for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Very friendly service. Food was great. Their breakfast menu is not large, but the items they do server are very good. read more

Stopped in for a snack after our hike. Had a gluten free blueberry scone which was tasty. Our son had a lemon tart which he liked and hubby had a lemon Copenhagen which is basically a danish- he thought it was average. Daily specials offered here. Stopped in for lunch. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Ended up getting a soup and sandwich. Both were very fresh and tasty. The sandwich could have had more ingredients in it. Seemed a little stingy. The baked goods looked awesome. Expect to pay a dollar extra for every coffee refill you get. The cups are tiny. There is a nice outdoor patio area to eat and a bright indoor area. Lots of parking as it's located in a plaza. read more

Put simply, I liked it so much I bought the hat! That was BEFORE I lost my wallet out front and one of the staff went above and beyond to track me down. So yeah I guess you can say the staff are friendly. The pastry was crispy and well balanced between sweet and savoury. Most Importantly - the best coffee I have had on our trip to the island so far, and I've been searching hard. My wife, who is also a serious coffee nerd, said her Americano was the best one yet too. Really good coffee and lattes. My wife and I went in on a warm sunny morning and sat on the patio. I ordered a breakfast bun with a latte, I was really impressed with the latte, delicious, right amount of espresso oomph. The breakfast bun was also very good, tasty, and a good size. read more

Whenever we are out in Sooke we make a point of stopping here. They have a great selection of vegetarian sandwiches on top of all the regular stuff and their veggie chilli is a favourite! Add to that the selection of European style breads and desserts! You have to check it out! read more

I originally wanted to come check out their baked goods but unfortunately they didn't have gluten free vegan items that I was going to have. So had a small soup and a cup of tea. Soup was too salty to me and tea wasn't brewed enough as water was lukewarm. I had high expectations for their food... Besides that, service was excellent! read more

We stopped into the Little Vienna three times in one week. First time was for a sandwich, cinnamon bun and a Nanaimo Bar for a drive to Port Renfrew (highly recommended); all were throughly enjoyed (drive included). The next two times were for lunch. We ordered a cup and a bowl of soup and a sandwich to share. All were freshly made on site and very tasty and not overpriced. We noted many other delicious looking breads and baked goods and look forward to trying them. This spot is worth a drive out from Victoria and is a must stop on the drive to Port Renfrew, Jordan River, French Beach or China Beach. Visited June 2012 read more

Great breakfast spot. I was pleased with the vegan breakfast wrap and child friendly. The staff were welcoming and answered all our questions making some of our breakfast options more toddler friendly (we didn't want the sugary add ones). They were more than accommodating. Excellent. My wife and I recently spent a weekend in the hidden gem of Sooke, BC. One of our favourite places was Little Vienna. We knew it was going to be good when the customers on their way out of the cafe were stopping to rave about their lunch. On our first stop, I ordered the cucumber & sprout sandwich loaded with cream cheese, sprouts, cucumber, red pepper and pesto mayo. My wife had the smoked turkey sandwich with swiss cheese, lettuce & pesto mayo. All on home-baked bread We sat in the cafe's serene, flowering garden to eat, and both our orders were scrumptious - big thumbs up for the pesto mayo. We topped off our meals with a poppy seed slice for me and a "Lemon Copenhagen" (a butter croissant pastry filled with lemon cream cheese and drizzled with a lemon glaze) for my wife. YUUUUUUUUUUUMMY! Michael, the owner, brought out a map of the area and sat down with us to show us the best local spots and give us a local's perspective on life in Sooke. A very kind man and a good story-teller. We had such a great experience for lunch, we returned another day for a delicious, filling European-style breakfast. More home-baked bread, Applewood cheddar, ham, and a great cup of coffee. Couldn't resist the pastries this time around either. The cinnamon schnecke was outstanding.
